Available in-store only nationally from 9am today. Will update prices as they filter through. Good luck!

Everyone, I'm seeing a lot of comments here about people walking into stores and seeing nothing on sale. You may actually be missing out if you leave. I've just been to Broadmeadows (10:45am) and nothing is tagged. I asked the sales rep, and he took me through the specials.

YOU NEED TO ASK!!!

Examples:
6x iPad mini ex demo $99
1x iPad Air 16GB ex demo $99
2x Nikon J3 $99 (one display)

Popped into city Emporium store yesterday after work. Absolutely zero stock there to even work with. About 3-5 games left on the shelf…no cameras…in fact, nothing mentioned in the sale was either ON SALE or any stock. These aren't leftover bits and pieces they're clearing, right? The way I read this is it's CLEARING ALL STOCK to reduce overhead costs with their physical stores…which means there dhould be SUFFICIENT STOCK across multiple stores in the same state - yet can anyone who visits a store after typical business hours actually get a deal or not? So far, no.

No GO PRO's were on sale yesterday. I checked. Just $49 'action cameras'

    • +1

Their lease must be almost up

    • +1

      What about the GoPro accessories?

      • Kaiser Baas accessories weren't shown with big orange tickets, but I'm pretty sure thwy were supposed to be marked down to $1 according to the sale post from yesterday.

        • That sounds dodgy. What about GoPro accessories?

        • +1

@YellowKnight: I couldn't see any…mostly because there were still a lot of customers hoarding that area, i wasn't really looking for accessories in the store at the time; particularly because I didn't see sale tickets near the display.

    • Bourke St was better despite being half the size!

    • i managed to grab the last sony as20 action cam yesterday at around 5.45. it was sitting behind the gopro hero4 with a 'clearance' label on it. was suprised no one had grabbed it. shrugs

going back today albeit earlier to see what else i can rape my bank account with

      • How much did you buy it for?

        • $99 as per the ticketed clearance price

      • -2

Rape that shit good and hard bud!

  • +2

I don't want to ask if the one thing I'm after is on sale, it's the one day I can't make it to a shop!

  • +11

Went in this morning. Absolutely nothing. The staff seem to have already cleared the shelves. No surprises there.

    • They must be packing up and getting ready to close down

      • +2

Nah the same store did it back in 2011/2012ish when they had another big instore sale.

        • That would have been when anchorage took over.

    • That's pretty shitty imo.

    • I'm not surprise by this..

  • Come on man!

  • +4

HDMI cables from $5 doesn't seem very cheap either when you can get them on ebay for $2+

    • +4

Even the actual computer stores like MSY have had cheap HDMI for years. Anyone that bought one from dickies is a sucker ;-)

    • +10

yes, but are they the Dick Smith branded premium gold plated ones that improve image quality?

      • +3

        LOL

      • +2

Haha, reminds me of a bloke at work who reckoned his network connection was slow, I gave him a special Ethernet cable and he told me later the improvement was huuuge!

        • +1

This would actually be a solution if you're on a gigabit network, he was using a cat5 cable, and you gave him a cat5e.

    • And this sums up the cause of DSE problems.

  • +15

    only 70%???
their share price down from IPO $2.20 to $0.35, this equal to 85% off

  • Anyone ever purchased a decent branded TV from DSE over 55"? Seems they don't carry any big TVs and if they do, they're crappy brands.

    • +2

Not since their large format stores failed miserably. Their store at chadstone was a joke!

  • Folks,
Any deal on Galaxy S5 / S6 ? Please share info. Stuck at work. Thanks!

    • See T&Cs copy/pasted on page 1 of this post down the bottom. Excludes such devices (of course)

      • I thought that was a prank T&C. That's pretty much everything decent.. again.

        • It could be, lol. Might as well say "excludes any useful electronics".

      • +2

Those are for the online sale…

        • Makes sense!

    • Yes, about 30% of Vodafone branded Samsung Galaxy phones.

      • Saw stickers for Samsung Galaxy s4 for $199 but he said none in stock @ nunawading

        • The s5 was about $469. I was offered the commercial price but that was only another 5 to 10% off.

        • @unity1: Thanks for the info, still expensive

        • @zsa82: Exactly. No ozbargain would buy at that price.

    • Just asked for the S5. It's about $430ish…

  • Any news on the Broadway SC store in Ultimo??

    • opens at 10!

      • +1

        Any updates?

  • +1

  • +6

    Nothing notable at bourke

    • Any games left?

      • Few at entrance

        • +3

Doesn't sound too promising. Maybe I'll just stay at work in that case :|

    • +3

Thanks mate, you saved me a trip!

  • +30

Can't believe I'm stuck at work when selfie sticks are on clearance today! FML…

    • +6

    • Would like to know as well

      • Same. Anyone get a price list?

  • +4

Most Ozbargained are oniomaniac. They will go to great extent to buy unnecessary items at bargain prices.

    • +17

Of course, why else would we be here

      Look
      If you had
      One shot
      Or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted
      In one moment
      Would you capture it
      Or just let it slip?

      Yo
His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy
There's vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti
He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready

    • +1

      Its true,

Wow the Prime Minister's golden payout must have really come down in recent years.
Least you still can afford a car, They gave Gillard a rusty bike and a kick up the bum.

  • +1

    Waiting waiting….
    No successful bargain reports yet.

  • Any update on Sydney CBD store? Thanks.

    • +29

I can confirm, the store is still there!

      • +4

Further report just in, this is breaking news, it's open!

      • Are you sure it's not a giant poster as they weren't on sale yesterday.

  • +2

  • +5

That Changhong 40" LED marked down to $199, that's as far as I've caught glimpse of the list. I've asked the bloke for the list but he's playing dumb…even though it's right in front of my face :|

    • +2

Grab it when they are not looking :p

    • I noticed you used the word "playing". Did you mean " "?

    • good deal! bought this earlier in the year for 440ish
Great pics with movies and games. sound quality …just ok

  • Went in to carlingford 2118 and all things seems normal to me. Not much discount I would say.

  • +3

Keep in mind that Coles currently has 10% off Dick Smith gift cards - if you're feeling brave to stock up. :D

    • Risky gamblr, but worth it, if it paid off.

      • Risky indeed. I'm going in to spend my remaining gift card. No point holding on to them of they go under in the near future.

I can't believe people are taking out extended warranties with purchases - hopefully dse isn't the underwriter.

  • +1

Have a 54.5 inch tv for $209. One left at ACT Civic

    • Is it worth it if there's no warranty?

      • +2

        There is always a warranty

      • You'd get at least 12 months.

        • +1

With the manufacturer maybe. Who's the manufacturer of this TV?

I wouldn't be buying a Dick Smith branded TV.
