Suspend video camera from ceiling to record classes

Does anyone have a suggestion for a cheap 1080p video camera that we can suspend from the ceiling, so that we can stream & record our classes?
What about the ceiling mount?
How does it all get hooked up to the laptop - a long USB cable?

The camera would record the wall mounted television & whiteboard underneath, so students can watch classes live.
Would stream using YouTube Live Streaming.

  • Lots of options but the Logitech C920 HD Pro Webcam is very highly rated. Around $110 (http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=logitech+c9…). The cheapest way to hook it up is by a cable, either USB or HDMI.

But more convenient are devices like the Livestream Broadcaster that can allow you to broadcast it directly from the camera to the Wifi network to YouTube (doesn't need the laptop).

  • Instead of using a long HDMI or USB cable, which can be expensive, get a balun kit which uses CAT5 or CAT6 cable. Then it is a matter of just running the CAT5/6 cable from the ceiling down to wherever you need it.

Altronics and Jaycar carry such balun kits.
