Dick Smith Clearance Purchases List- Update Items List Only

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Can people please update the thread as they bag some bargains today at Dick Smith

DO NOT boast and write stories of what you got and where and how you got

Make it simple

Just List the item - Price (If possible the product code- you can find in the receipt or the ticket)

Prices are going to be same at all stores

This will help people to just go for that item instead of trying to scan 100+ to get 2 or 3 at a reduced price.Do not post any comment other than product and the price.

So just comment

    • TV was from Browns Plains and the rest was from the DS inside of Indooroopilly shopping centre. There's basically 4 DS stores within a 1km radius of each other. DJ, DS and Move inside the shop and a DS just outside of the main shopping centre as well.

      • good haul

        • I'm rapt when I worked out what I saved. Yes older models, but some aren't that old and I saved over $1500 on market price

      • Well done. Wow Queensland has all the good stuff

    • May I ask what model that LG 55" UHD was? 55UF850T?

      • +1

The one below LG 55 UHD UB820T, it's the one without Web os

        • Cheers.

    • Can I ask what it says on your receipt for the Canon 700D like product code etc? I want to see if mine is elegible cash back. Mine wasn't the SLK but one that came up as $399.

      Thanks!

      • I think your will be the twins lens kit. Should be eligible for cash back. If you go to canon website, that'll tell you more though.

  • regarding the NB4540 sound bar the only 4 left in all of Australia and there in the NT stores

    • Darwin city couldnt even find this model in the computer

      • Yeah. Never saw these in the cbd or cas store. Out back in the storeroom maybe?

        • I overheard the manager talking to an employee at mitchell Centre today. Asking if the employee snagged any good deals for himself, the employee said yes and the manager said so did I…

I didn't see ANYTHING at the mitchell centre store that was on clearance except the Swann security all in one wifi pack and the LG Bluray player and PVR both of which I already snagged from Cas yesterday.

        • @insane: guy show me the Computer was Darwin store unsure what that means and 3 other stores in NT unsure where but oh well.

  • Saturday will be busy…not from new stock, but because everyone will realise "I don't need this" and there will be a plethora of returns. I bought an LG PVR /Bluray…then got home and read the review..

    • Are returns even possible?

      • +2

If it isn't fit for purpose, then yes. For example, this Bluray / DVD player supposedly doesn't play DVD's and the PVR doesn't track time properly. I'll give it a chance, but 9 out of 9 negative reviews on the LG website itself doesn't sound promising!

        • +1

"this Bluray / DVD player supposedly doesn't play DVD's and the PVR doesn't track time"

Wow. Just wow. Remember kids: do your research.

        • +1

          @WalterPPK:
When you find a deal that is so cheap & know staff or next person will snap it up, there is little chance to do research! I'm a thorough researcher, but snapped up 90% off deals & hoped for best. At that price I knew I could offload it if not satisfied šŸ˜Œ

    • did the same thing.. reviews don't look too promising….

      • +1

Never buy then look at reviews as you'll find faults that aren't really even faults, but if one person says it you'll think 'yeah, I have that too, I think'. I'm guilty of that and I look at reviews while in store and that takes time, so usually by the time I'm done with reviews I'll know if it's impulse or if I genuinely wanted it.

    • Which model?
I bought a LG Blue-Ray recorder with PVR. Its ok @$80, but not that great for original $549 price.

Firmware upgrades probably have occurred since reviews were posted on these older models.

  • Epping DS have a display D3300 if anyone is interested

    • +1

      not on sale

  • My quick summmary.

DJ's Bourke St crazy people everywhere only got 2 Epson Ink Cartridges for $10 each.

Emporium not as busy but still a lot of people, didn't buy anything. One guy buying 20 Timex Ironman watches. Glad I didn't buy one looked cheap and nasty.

Went to DJ's Bourke St - staff super helpful.

        • Thanks for that so looking at dick smith prices did ok but i see this time last year they where down to 70 something and 50 something.
Maybe a deal they had in at time? Like the often do with products.
Its not till i get back and notice you paid $5 for yours i got two of these and was $10 each.
Is it possible each store is different im in wa.
Is it possible the charged me for wrong price need to check my receipt and very unlikely staff riping people off by charging more?
Guy in front of me was buying phone cases not sure which ones or for what for but they was $5 i thought most where a $1.
Just weird how i paid $10 for same item so being two of them $20 vs if was your price $10 very strange.
Still think i have a good deal but your was better and dont understand why you where less.
Has this been common with people buying items one store more than next.
Could be they are lowering and raising there prices?

        • @bwatt99:

It's probable that it was a mistake in their system, I had them both price checked thinking only one was reduced, the first scanned up as $10 and I said that I'll take that one, but on scanning the other it came up at $5 so took both. I've been watching them for years and missed the opportunity when they were at $70 and but they've been $150 ever since, which was never gonna happen for me. On seeing those prices I jumped at the chance.

I'd be very happy even if they were at $10ea. Technically it should be the same Prices across the board AU wise.

        • yes I'm happy as well you must have got lucky on that day for getting less there is going to be errors along the way with pricing.its crazy as probably still good deals to be had many days since sell started and I was still able to grab these.
I bet there has been loads I would have liked to have purchased and been in stock but was not any wiser.
And that's why these are still there as nobody knows they are less I. Sure where priced $149 and $99 in store.
And I almost walked away thinking I'm wasting my time scanning them but they was on offer so very happy with that.
Never even knew they existed have got same brand glass cover for my phone.
I'm sure if dick smith had priced everything there would have been not much left of anything.

    • Got one of the pro+ and two of the profolio i remember seeing this post on them but thought these maybe newer ones and walked away then thought i ask them to scan.but weird thing is they where all $10 each for for me,would have thought it be same?
They are xmas gifts but trying to figure out what these cost now or used to cost in dse and other stores.
Yes there be newer versions etc but just wondering what they cost and where i find a lot come up for ipad air.

  • +1

picked up a Yamaha Electronic Drum Kit - DTX430K $299 and a ASHTON SOPRANO UKULELE BLUE $9 which i thought were good prices in DS Hobart - they had some yamaha and ashton electric guitars and basses as well and a few keyboards all cheap as well

    • Musical instruments. Bloody sweet deal. Good haul mate.

  • We need insider info for tomorrow sale please. Wake up early or don't bother?

    • It's Saturday.

      Don't bother.

  • Is the supposedly 70% off thing going on tomorrow? Any information on that?

    • +4

      Probably 70% off shop fittings.

  • I doubt it…WIll only be the stuff left over nothing new and anything good will be taken by the staff.

    • Agreed. Not going to go. They seem to have a big amount of inventory of phone covers.

  • Anyone pick up a kaiser smart player plus? Picked up one yesterday had already been used (guys gmail was still linked), xbmc runs fine but anything app related runs horribly, can barely stream anything.

    • should have sent an email to his girlfriend confessing his love for another man and outing him as a homosexual

  • Anyone pick up a D3300 and able to share the price/receipt?

I've got one on hold but they are saying it scans at $699. Is this model not a part of the sale?

    • +3

D3300 is a current model. No current stock is on sale, only old stuff

      • D5500 was on clearance for $447 and that's a current model.

  • +4

A bit OT, but some Kiwis managed to score a very sweet deal on an iPad mini. Just an illustration of how low DSE prices could go.

    • Lmao wow! No one has claimed it though

      • Well the staff almost certainly nabbed them as soon as the store opened.

    • +2

Even better, that equals $8.22 AUD!

    • +1

Amazing price but will be snapped up in 1/2 a second. Would rather a slightly higher price that weeds out some of the resellers meaning I will have a better chance of nabbing one.

  • i'm thinking there really isn't going to be much going on tomorrow. some further discounts on the clearance stock only, most of which is gone already. the good stuff anyway. my dream of a sub-$100 40" FHD tv gone for now!

  • Temperature Controlled Soldering Station - T2200
    $30 usually $89.98
Listed as home delivery but there were two on the shelf in Hobart for $30 (now gone). Good unit.

  • Got bowers and Wilkins P5 for 147, is that good?

    • +2

you should find out before you buy, not after.

      • +1

It takes two seconds to google for reviews. Even when its cheap I still look for reviews.

    • I listened to the display and was meh about it

  • Got an ex display D3100 for 149. Luckily it was sitting in the display cabinet without any touch so pretty much brand new. Quite surprise image quality is very good compare to my A7. Also scored myself a Lg G2 32gb brand new for 135 just with box-opened. Quite surprise it's been there for a week, lot of people instore, but no one asked. When i ask them for a price check this morning, the staff surprised for the price , told me this one would be pretty rugged. However, inside the box phone is still with its original accessories, all in plastic wrap. I guess i'm just lucky guy. Wish everyone find some good deals for them self :)

    • Any Dslr left? Which store?

    • How did no one get it before you if it was just sitting in the display cabinet?

    • +1

I was the first instore and that's one is always quiet cause there is another DS in the shopping mall next to it. Got both in WA, one in mirrabooka n one in morley galleria.

  • Can dick smith sell display stock macbooks? I was told by the store manager these are owned by apple?

Quite a few posts reflect that ex-display macbooks have been purchased. Would be good to confirm if the display models can be sold.

    • Came across the same issue with iPads.
Greensborough had a display mini and said they cant sell Apple displays which is the opposite to what everyone else has said about display stock

  • +15
Thumbs down to all the DS items purchased at the sale for high profits on Gumtree. There are a few ads/sellers with multiple TV's an other electrical items for sale with high profit margins. These sales should be for people looking for a personal bargain not bulk buyers looking to on sell!!!!
    • +3

Should email them and set up fake meet ups.

      That will teach them.

      • Well I hope their plans to make a big profit fail if they have solely purchased multiple high end items to make large profits. Surely people are well aware of the DS sales by now and surely people would question why some sellers have multiple "brand new" items for sale when they could/can get the same items at the sale

        • +4

Most people don't care really, especially on Gumtree.

As long as they can get it tad cheaper than market price, they be more than happy to buy.

    • +3

Yeah, i saw a guy trying to buy 5 TVs at my DS, he was in at 9.20am on Wednesday.
His story was he has a house to deck out, maybe he did, maybe he didnt?
Anyway, the DS Sales Guy sold him 2 Tvs, then told him there was no more stock out the back, even though there was.

Some Gumtree sales might also be people that purchased, then realised its not what they really want etc.

Here is a classic though: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/pakenham/tvs/dick-smith-39-5-ā€¦

      • +2

With this sale, there wasn't the usual time to read reviews & research.

When something like I bought is 80% off clearance price at TGG & 90% off DS shelf price, I just bought rather than thought.

But using it, now I've found its not really what I want. So that's going on Gumtree unless I find a use for it. Did that recently with a crap PVR from DS. The difference is I have 1 to sell, not 5 some people are listing.

I wonder how many more TV's Samantha has to sell on Gumtree at potential enormous profit?

      • Gotta love how these people always have generous friends and family that give them these kind of presents. Also seen a lot of MacBooks as "unwanted gifts"…..if they are "unwanted" just ask for a receipt for a refund.

    • 50 eneloops 8 pack at $5 each. Sell for X $25 each on gumtree ebay and make $1000 before fees. Cost you $250

  • maybe a stupid question, but I missed out on a discount Xbox one earlier in the week, as it was only old stock. It's there any chance the ones which were not discounted, will now be disjointed on Saturday?

    • I take it that's a no :(

  • Philips Action Fit Bluetooth InEar Sports with Mic SHQ7300LF for $77 which COTD is selling for $99. Not a real bargain but…then I got Philips bluetooth portable speakers BR-1X for $20 which HN is selling for $88 and something else to take it over $99 for the REWARD20 coupon! So I literally got the speakers FREE!

  • Hey guys is it worth buying one of these i7-2ghz 8gb-ddr3 1tb-hdd laptops for $499?

    • +1

If you are not playing heavy graphic games and the laptop serves your purpose the cheaper the better. Make sure you buy something else as well and push it over $499 for the $70 coupon instead of the $45.

      • Is this coupon in store?

        • +1

Go to www.dse.com.au and it's on the top of the page. I just claimed the REWARD20 this morning online. First check if your laptop is an exclusion item.

Edit: I just read that the offer is online only. Do a click and collect.

    • +2

      which model is this?

  • Saw a guy get a HDMI cable for free but also bought some other stuff guy behind thecounter went wow so not sure if its some sort of deal with the blueray player he brought but was in a rush to ask.

    • +1

On Wednesday staff gave me free 8GB USB drives when I bought a Blue-Ray (HDMI cables were too dear - they tried giving me one but couldn't). It wasn't a deal, they were just generous after we'd been joking around. So be nice to the staff šŸ˜€

      • +1

        Are you male or female?

        • +1

          Let me see… Wednesday… A guy šŸ‘¦ I think.

That's a rather personal question & I was having fun with a male & female staff.

        • +1

          @Infidel: Are you sure?

        • @DarkOz:
I've had people come up to me confused - after seeing photos from my student days… Ah misspent drunken parties of my youth - I never paid for a drink šŸ˜€

Now back to discussing Dick šŸ˜ƒ

        • @Infidel: Incidentally DSE just called this promotion #DSXMAS but we all know it as #DICKSXMAS.

        • @DarkOz:
One day I want the job of selecting sale names & discount codes at DS. Then people can call me a real Dick šŸ˜€

  • 8gb emtec USB stick $2
3d lamps for kids room from $59 to $9
Genuine apple mini smart cases from $59 to $5
Belkin 30pin charging cable from $29 to $2
    Skylanders $2

Had a chance to buy pvr, security systems, TVs, bluesy players etc for very good price but don't need any…

    • Sweet as. Was the iPad cases for iPad Air 2?

    • I can't see the lamps for kids room and Skylanders online. In store only?

      • Yep all instore

  • +1

I went this morning at 9am to DSE at Morayfield. My god the "sale" was shit. It was some heavily discounted crap that was still overpriced and you can still get them cheaper on ebay everyday. They had some discounted TVs but they were crap Dick branded ones and were only like $50-$100 off and still overpriced. Not worth the time. I asked one of the staff and he said all the good things were sold by Wednesday morning.

  • Went this morning to Burwood NSW and many people and most bargains are not ticketed. You have to price check at the counter.

Picked my self some Brother 3pk ink for printer for $30 down from $95.98 - good to stock up. 69% off - LC235XL / XP2331
Cambelbak eddy stainless steel insulated drink bottle. down from $50 - 60% off / SE5207

    City store
Lytro 8GB blue camera for $49 down from $397 - 90% off. / XG9226 - also got 1 yr extra warranty on the receipt and $10 mates rates discount applied - which I didn't even ask for.

  • Saw a Philips 3D Bluray for $49 ($99) at Carnes Hill, had about 6 in stock
