The great devaluation of physical DLC called Amiibo continues in Australia, while Americans buy them for 30bucks from scalpers on ebay and amazon.

Skylanders numbed it for me ….. $400+ worth in a tub, and now my son has outgrown them ….. wanted splatoon until I read about physical DLC ….. amiibos ……inner city real estate is just too expensive per m2 for this junk.
What happened when you used to buy a game and it just worked.

  not 100% sure about skylanders, but the good thing about the nintendo system with amiibo's are that they are very much an accessory. They don't really add much content or levels to games but mainly costumes and other features (as opposed to Disney Infinity/Lego Dimensions etc)

  Splatoon functions 100% without the amiibos (there are only 3 for splatoon). There is no additional content, just reskinned weapons and some clothing items with stats that are available on other regular in game items. None of it gives you any benefit over not having them. You're missing out on a great game! :D
