Found this hack which is a 20% saving on Coles gift cards.

  • Add a $100 gift card to cart
  • Add a $25 gift card to cart
  • Apply code: EXCLUSIVEOFFER at checkout
  • $125 worth of gift cards for $100
  • This is a 20% saving which will be good for grocery shopping :)

Also works for other gift cards too.

      Order was 10.47 and it was for a Coles GC.

  • Ordered at about 11am, paid "$100" via paypal, received the ecards at 12.34pm, bank now showing $125 authorisation. I've emailed them advising that I did NOT authorise them to deduct a further $25 (how they can do this using paypal without my approval is a mystery - worth knowing about) and that they should contact me with an explanation.

    If the code wasn't valid then they will have no choice but to cancel the cards, I'm not keeping them. Coles is generally overpriced so I have no intention of paying full price for their cards.

    As advised above CHECK YOUR BANK ACCOUNT

    • Call their customer service line, they'll process the refund for $25 on the spot.

      • previous comments says that they will look into it and contact you later. They don't give refunds straight away.

      • Thanks but it appears that it depends on who you speak to and whether you want to hang around on the phone while they try to find a resolution. Can't be bothered wasting my time, Coles just isn't worth the hassle.

    My order went through with a confirmation email however no gift card email yet. So I called the help line and the operator explained that the online store generally stocks 1,000 cards in each denomination and they have run out of stock today thanks to us Ozbargainers.

    They will restock tomorrow and mail out to those who got a confirmation email by COB tomorrow.

  • Placed my order at 10.40am, code worked but was charged $125 when I check Paypal.
    Loddged a Paypal dispute and received a reply from Target:

    "We have recently received a paypal case open against your online order in relation to a system error with a promotional code.

    As a result we are happy to honour a $25 refund back into your paypal account.

    Please note however that we do need you to please close the Paypal case in order for us to apply this refund as the dispute places a hold on the funds

    If you can please confirm by Friday 8.1.16 that you have closed this we can proceed to action the refund, otherwise we will need to cancel this order due to the dispute."

    However I have not received the gift cards yet - hopefully soon?

  • I've just received a refund through Paypal for $25. Assume the eGift card will be processed when they have more available!

  • Got the email from old mate Gabrielle at Target advising that they will refund me back the $25

    But I still haven't received the gift cards though. Hopefully they come through tomorrow

      Remaining balance stays on the card until you spend it all.

      Coles one is more handy as you can scan the barcode instead of manual input.

    Kudos to Target for honouring this deal, maybe is DSE honoured more pricing errors and looked after their customer base they would be in a better position now.

      I really like giving back to this community which has given me so much over the years, it's just returning the favour I guess.

  • What's the best approach for using the giftcard at Coles to buy another type of giftcard? Self check out?

    • Not really. When you pay the machine will summon a staff to manually go through each gift card item. Then they'll probably stand by the side and watch you pay, unless you pick a really busy hour.

      • Staff only need to approve the transaction and then walk away.Unlike Woolies system,no further action like swiping the cards needed.

        • If they don't walk away chances are they'd tell you off when you pull out your coles gift card. Happened to me twice.

        No need to worry Target the best retailer (in store and online) among all others.

  • So i Got my GCs on email, tried to use one today to buy milk but the machine said its invalid. Does anyone who received theirs actually work?

    • You can check the balance here. The card number to check the balance ignores the first 13 numbers and starts with 6.

      If using the self serve, select eGift Card and scan the barcode or enter the entire card number on the screen including the first 13 numbers. You will then need to enter the PIN on the EFTPOS machine. If the balance on the card is less then your total, it will ask you to try again and only checkout the balance on the card.

      At a regular checkout, it's listed as a Digital Gift Card but the method is then the same.

    • I scanned mine at the Coles self-serve checkout and it worked fine - just had to enter the pin manually.
