    In app purchases…

Yeah I was going to buy too until I saw the in app purchases.
Refuse to buy games that have that crap.
.. thus my phone has (counts) 6 games -_-

    • Agreed!

    • I have plenty of games in IAP. Only once have I actually paid for anything - and that was after I'd finished the entire free game and wanted to play more levels.

Sometimes, an app only has a "lite" version and the "pro" version is an in-app purchase, so you're eliminating too many good apps with that categorisation.

  • Why are Google Play apps discounted to stupid amounts like 20c?

    • +3

Because then they can get people hooked and they'll buy the in app purchases. Also the more downloads a paid game has the more appealing it looks to someone wanting to buy, especially if the reviews are positive (which is why you often have nags to rate as 5 stars).

    IN APP PURCHASES
All bat skins can be won in multiplayer but you can buy them too if you like.

      oooh.. purely cosmetic upgrades ?
could you please advise.. is there adds in game ?
      if not.. I MAY HAVE A 7TH GAME! :)

      ta for info mate

  • This one is simpler with clunkier graphics but it's a smaller download, always free, no in app purchase nonsense, and I quite enjoyed it. It came pre-installed on one of my phones.

guys there are two types of games with in app purchase.
one: without buying you CAN NOT play more than xx levels etc
two: without buying you STILL CAN play just like normal, but if you do BUY you will get some advantages over non BUYing players, or you just need more time. so you trade in $ with time basically.

the number two is fine i dont mind.

i hate mote the games that need us to connect to internet all the time.

      And there's #3

In app purchases are cosmetic and have no advantage except for supporting the dev or looking good.

Apparently this game is #3 and even better (the cosmetic items can be earned by playing the game)

      • and i probably bought this game long time ago at FULL price! but yeah very cool game despite make my galaxy note 3 running hot….

    • Not a fan of in app purchases.

Games that make you purchase time or lives to continue playing so you don't have to wait ages for the game to reset or refill lives after xx amount of retries.

Along with wasting download quota with in app advertising if you have wifi/mobile data enabled. I usually turn of mobile data and wifi to avoid this.

    • What I hate are those reviewers spamming the google play reviews complaining about an app with in-app purchases having in-app purchases.

Anyone who is a Play Music subscriber will get a 10% discount (-$0.02)

    BARGAIN.

  • I don't understand the in-app purchasing that allows you to continue to increase your score.

So it doesn't become a game of skill or challenge as gaming has always been about, instead who can spend the most to get the highest score.

    It's disgusting, but whatever.

well, but developer need money.. in app will give them more than one off purchase price.. as some people will just pirate instead of buying.. but in app harder to crack/hack.

also, some people have money but not time so they dont mind spending cash to get better than others. thats human nature. willing to sacrifice what they have to get what they dont have

      • I'm sure the dev is more creative than that to make proper DLC.

Those people shouldn't be playing games if they have no time. Otherwise might as well give them a 100% profile with score of 999,999,999 to every game.

Games designed for challenge and reward.

    • Remember, the player doesn't have to keep playing the game. It's hard to make a living off a one-off 20 cent or even $5 game, and kudos to those that do.

What's the difference between a $15 game and multiple in-app purchases totalling $15? How about a monthly subscription to World of Warcraft vs buying gems in a game to keep going forward?

      • That's a good point. However, it ruins it for other players. So it means, who is willing to pay for the most progress. Pay to win is rubbish in gaming and I wonder who it's really targeting.

The difference is you're getting a full experience of a game that costs $15, it's designed as one not designed as a game requiring in-app purchasing. Candy Crush for example will on purpose have levels not winnable and make the game much more difficult to promote purchases. Full game experiences don't have these built-in limits.

I don't agree with subscription based games or games you buy jewels in.

My opinion is, if you enjoy the game, set a limit.

My issue is pay to win mostly.

The only game from my experience that has done DLC right is Mario Kart 8.

        • Somehow my reply didn't continue in this thread.

  • The thing about in-app purchases is, it lets you consume only a slice of the pie if you wish, instead of paying for the lot.

True, pay to win seems unfair, but if the "free" portion is actually more like a "trial" and the real game is in the paid version, then isn't it more an issue with the player's "sense of entitlement"?

What grinds my gears more is the privacy/malware problems that usually come with "free" games, especially if they still apply to the paid versions.

edit: this was meant as a reply to justmiike's comment. Don't know why it broke from the thread.
