          depends on what you're after…

no annual fee cards —> amex qantas discovery or amex velocity and you earn either qantas or velocity points, depending on which one you prefer. Earn rate is 1 point per $1.

The platinum edge is also good, although there is a $199 annual fee, I think. However, you get one free return domestic flight each year (which usually more than offsets the cost) and the earn rate is better - up to 3pts per $1.

Wiki link for referrals here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/american_express_referrals
You get bonus points for using a referral and referrers get bonuses too.

        • @bluedufflecoat: Thank you!

  • Do you need to use your Amex to pay, in order to receive the credit?

    • -2

      No

    • Yes you do.

    • +2

      Of course you do.

  • Will the offer work if I spend $80 twice on same card

    • +1

U only get $15 for $80 or more

  • Not able to be directed to Dan Murphy site via cashrewards , anyone has the same issue?

    • +1

      It's hit and miss.

  • Any for bank issued Amex?

  • Weird I just tried a GC and it wouldnt work. Maybe they banned me?

  • +1

Had anyone else come across the issue on Dan Murphy site where you click on Payment during checkout and the b****y page simply scrolls up and does not take you to the actual payment screen..

    • i have that very same issue right now.
tried with both IE & Chrome.
      guess i'll try again later.

    • yea having the same issues, hopefully they don't temporarily disable the sale of gift cards

      • Happening with me too Safari and Chrome….. noooooooo

  • Got 5 $80 gift cards. Got emails from Amex straight away. Cashback tracked at $5.6 each which seems to be 7%.

Combined with 8% wine purchase and this $15, does that mean it would be like 34% discount??

    • +1

I'm assuming you have more than 1 AmEX card? Are they registered to individuals or supplementary cards? I have a supplementary card but these offers are not available for that card :(

      • +1

Plat Edge Cards issue supp cards with all different numbers, as do the Discovery Cards
You can register for everyone of them,

      • +1

Register your supplementary card using the manual links provided in the OP.

        • +1

          Thanks. Worked for me :)

      • 4 cards here + 1 supplementary. Had to register 3 cards manually. Supplementary card is fine as well.

        • HI, sorry but what is supplementary amex card? Is my card westpac amex supplementary card? thanks

        • @bigbabo:

The supplementary card is an additional card issued under the same account as the primary card holder. It will use the same credit limit etc and primary card holder will be responsible for it. Your westpac amex is a normal card if you apply for it yourself or a supplementary card if you get it from your family or friends' account.

  • I can't for the life of me actually PAY for the DM's gift card! I put my billing address in, click the purple "PAYMENT" button, but it just takes me back to the top of the page, with no changes..? All fields are filled in correctly..

    • Same here. I successfully bought one in the morning, but did not get the Amex confirmation email. Just tried a different card, but it's not letting me pay…

      • Are you getting the exact same issue as me? It's got me tearing my hair out. I am out of ideas, tried changing everything..

      • Just tried an order without gift cards - works fine.. Seems like they've taken gift cards down!

        • Annoying, missed it by a few minutes…

    • Plastic gift cards still seem to work, although with a $5.5 postage fee.

  • oh nooo!!!

Can we make the GC $75 and add on the $5.50 fee to make it $80.50 and get the $15 back?

    • +1

that's $5.5 less in value… the tightass in me says no… but then still better than nothing?

      • yah i know.. :(
but i got 4 AMEX cards, unless i wanna buy $320 worth of alcohols, otherwise it is a better option for me..

        • buy the egiftcard, no shipping fee so you get a $80 wishcard

  • same issue here, can't click payment. OMG.

WIth these e-gift cards, can you use them in-store or are they for online use only? Like I can only use the $80 gift card at woolworths online and the like, and not physically instore?

    • can use it anywhere

  • +3

Ok guys. Those who are having trouble with putting in exact "$80". I just bought the $100 option and was able to successfully go through with the order.

Just got the amex grats email

On the side note, if cashrewards does come through, wouldn't that mean it's effectively 7-8% off woolies gift cards ongoing basis? I know they say giftcards are excluded etc…

    • 3% cashback on DM's gift card. They will probably adjust the cashback rate to 3%.

    • +1

Four $20 egift cards (total $80) works

      • yeah but just annoying having 4 pdf

        • Does $81 work?

        • -1

          @unity1: nope

        • @Frozensage: Thanks. Will give it a try in the morning and hope it has been fixed.

  • +1

Doesn't seem to accept any custom amount for gift cards, only the listed amounts.

    • I have managed to buy $80 this morning and just tested - still can get $80 (custom amount)
So not sure about your issue

Are you trying through https://www.danmurphys.com.au/gift-cards ?

      • +1

doesn't go through the payment when you click payment button.

      • +1

Yeah they don't work currently, it won't get past the payment screen and removes it from cart if you have other items that allow it past payment screen.

  • Did anyone received their $80 giftcards yet?
I ordered two around the same time around 5pm but only managed to received one, other one is saying "Your order is being confirmed"

  • I have placed order at 6.00pm. Received the email confirmation from Amex, email from DM saying that their team are working on the order, and still waiting for the egift card.

  • +1

bought $100 for one AMEX card just in case they are not comming back. 15% off still good

  • Is anyone actually using the dan murphys offer for alcohol?

    • I use it mostly for grocery, petrol, bigw

    • +1

Sure am- perfect timing with a weekend away bucks party for a best mate coming up!

  • $80 still not working. $100 value is working

    • no wonder why i cant check out the $80

    • $90 is working.

      • not working for me

      • if you don't mind 3 pdf gift cards, it works with 2x $20 + 1x 50

  • +2

No problem with ordering $80 e cards 5 mins ago

  • Ordered and received $100 egiftcard, instant email from Amex confirming the purchase & cashback & cashreward also tracking for $7. Thanks OP!

  • the payment button took me back to the home page but when go into cart and try check out again it works no prob so worth a try for some. bought 1x80$

  • yup i just bought a $82 gift card..seems to work ok now

  • I just successfully bought $80 now. It's working again. Got the order confirmation and the confirmation from Amex $15 credit.

Have not received the gift card yet but I see it takes some time.

    • Ordered 2 x $80 yesterday 4pm and still waiting from DM to email me the gift cards.
Got confirmation from AMEX and Tax Invoice from DM and confirmation from CR, so should be coming through today.

Seems they've been inundated with $80 orders which maybe requires some manual intervention?!

      • I ordered a $80 egift card at 6pm yesterday and received the card this morning. It should have been in your mail box by now.

        • Thanks maybe I'll chase up.

        • @TrailerTrash: I strongly recommend you follow up with DM. I bought a $80 this morning and the egift card arrived within 1.5hrs.

        • @Fernley:
I got my email Gift Card in an hour after ordering

        • +1

@Fernley: Thanks - Called through last night and it was "stuck in the system", so they manually released the hold and it arrived about an hour later.. Weird.

  • Hmm… haven't received the Amex confirmation email for my 3rd Amex card yet. The two from yesterday came pretty quickly.

    • I often don't receive the email for my amex issued card but always get them for the bank issued card. Credit has been applied they just failed to send an email

  • Does anyone know if the cashback will work if paying using paypal?

    • +1

      It will not work.

      • seriously ? I remember purchasing online via paypal and still get credits from CR

        • I assumed the question is for the AMEX cash back, not cashrewards cashback. If it for the latter, then you are absolutely correct that PayPal will cause no issue in getting money back from CR.

        • +2

Depends On the context of the question…cash back from Amex vs cash back from CR.

          Former: no, latter, yes.

        • @bluedufflecoat: I presume Cash rewards credit is called "cashback" and Amex credits are "statement credits"

        • +1

@spk: you are correct, but some people may not be as detailed as you are. :)

  • Is this the gift card everyone is ordering? https://www.danmurphys.com.au/gift-cards

    • Yes, the digital version.

      • Great. Thanks. Just ordered one for $80.

  • has anyone got the Amex cashback yet?

    • +1

It should be on people's statements in 2-3 days but the official line is:

"Credits usually take 5 days to appear on your account upon completion of your qualifying transaction, but may take up to 90 days after the offer has ended. "

  • +3

Noticed the change in wording in the amex email after you have made the qualifying spend -

Thank you for using Amex Offers with your Card ending XXXXX at DAN MURPHY'S ONLINE. If your purchase meets the offer terms, you will receive a $15.00 credit. Credits usually take 5 days to appear on your account upon completion of your qualifying transaction, but may take up to 90 days after the offer has ended.

This is in stark contrast with the previous emails from amex -

Congratulations, a credit is on its way. Thank you for making an eligible purchase and qualifying for your Amex Offer. Your $30 credit for spending $100 at First Choice Liquor Online will be issued to your registered Card account. Credits are generally issued within 5 business days upon completion of your eligible transaction.

I think Amex is onto folks that are buying giftcards…

    • Nothing in the dan murphy offer excluding gift cards.

Edit: actually gift cards are excluded.

From terms and conditions "Gift card purchases are excluded."

      • As I said yesterday…

Make sure you enrol through the offer enroll.americanexpress.com link provided at the start of thread.
Gift cards ARE NOT EXCLUDED under the terms and conditions.
If you use other links like Amex Connect they are excluded and AMEX have every right not to give the $15 back.

        • through americanexpress website
          and the link

          both state:
          "Gift card purchases are excluded"

          4x Amex used
4x Cashrewards email received for $5.60 cashback
          4x Tax Invoices (2within 2hours of processing; another 2x 19 to 21hours)
          4x $80egift cards received (2x within 3hours of processing; remaining 2 came in 21hrs to 22hours)

now you have me worried that i won't get the $15bux back

          kinda spewin…

        • @chinezejew: Dont worry, you will get it, I have always gotten cash back on gift cards. How do you propose amex find out what customers bought?

        • +1

          @Turd:

          True.
But if ozB sooo well known.
          Woolies. DanM. Amex.

          *cashrewards should troll here too

Some1 may be trolling this thread

        • @chinezejew: You may think ozb is popular it isnt not actually. Only popular within the internet people, but you have to remember there are A LOT of the population who dont know about it. Unless us professionals.

        • @Turd:

My super broken english mother in law tried to explain cheap parking in melb cbd to me.

          58years young… and her group of friends…

I replied: i have enough liven accounts for free parking most days of the year.

          Thanks secure parking

edit ozB pros do not squeal and lag ozB forums at the register of retailers to bugger… ie: officeworks international student $10.
My cousin didnt get her copy.
Yes. She freshly imported this year

I had that new wording when I completed a purchase at Shoes and Sox about 2 weeks ago. The purchase involved some school shoes and a gift card to make it up to the $120 qualifying spend. I received the $30 statement credit without any issues.

However, you would think there was some reason for the change in wording. Let's wait and see.

    • How would they know what you bought?

      • +2

They ask the Australian government for your metadata and check against 'gift cards' word. A simple Visual basic program can do this /s

  • My gift card has arrived via email now. Confirming it can be used in store too.

    • pls let me know when u get ur $15 back!

  • As I said yesterday….
