    • I enrolled with the link too but if you log into your amex account online and check the saved offers. The dan murphy's offer terms does say "Gift card purchases are excluded.".

      • Thanks

        • Defintely different to the terms we agreed to when we enrolled.

  • Would anyone have the original terms and conditions from the link from yesterday?

    without the giftcard exclusion line

    • The following transactions are not considered eligible spend for the purposes of the Offer:

      1. Excludes all purchases through a third party. For example through an online aggregator (e.g. PayPal) or retailer;
      2. Returned items;
      3. In-store purchases; and
      4. Transactions which are subsequently cancelled or refunded;
  • How does AMEX know what people buy? Can someone please help me.

    • +1

I don't think we should worry too much just yet. All similar previous deals have always excluded gift cards but the credits have always been honoured.

Worst case scenario we have spent $80 for an $80 gift card that most would probably use in a week. Anyway, I remain optimistic.

      • Opportunity came.
So we all tried it to gain a potential 19+% off

Worst thing that could happen is paying full price.
And maybe 20mins of work hrs.

        Hahahaha… full price

    • I doubt they will know. However, from the new wording, it is clear they no longer assume every spend above the required minimum should receive the credit. My best guess is they could start looking out for suspicious transactions (e.g. exact min spends, esp if a cardmember has multiple sub cards with multiple exact min spends?) and then raise an inquiry with the merchant to "check" if giftcards were purchased?

    • AMEX can know your DM Giftcard purchase in this case because the transaction record shows DM Bella Vista. And there is no DM store in Bella Vista so they know what is happening. If knowing this and being strict,AMEX can not issue you credit.

Correct me if someone bought real products and transaction record shows a different location.

How long will an account take to register?
Does this new woolies system give pdf of registered card barcode??

    If group with this….
    Another 20% off

  • Maybe of interest last Amex DJ offer I did not receive the credit of $40 for my last purchase on multiple cards of gift vouchers plus hair bands etc over $200.
Not game enough to ring and complain as they may then go back to purchases on the other cards and debit the lot.
Will never know if it was refused because of the Gift Voucher purchase.

    • I got all 7 AmEx cards between me and my wife credited with the $40. We got $200 gift cards and some tiny <$5 item to get the free delivery.

  • wtf haha got a email with this message with no $ amount value.

"If your purchase meets the offer terms, you will receive a $ credit. Credits usually take 5 days to appear on your account upon completion of your qualifying transaction, but may take up to 90 days after the offer has ended."

  • Just about to buy egift card from Dan Murphy's and found this from cashrewards:

    Cashback on Gift Cards: 3.00%
    Cashback on Beer: 3.50%
    Cashback on Beer: 4.50%

It implies they will have clear info about what you purchased from Dan Murph's, either a gift card or alcohol. Then AMEX may as well get this info.

    • Weird.

      $5.60 on my cashrewards email.
      $80egift spend.

    • Cashrewards uses cookies to track what you buy. Amex only joins the party when you pay and can't see the cookie trail.

  • Bought four $80 DM Gift cards.. Thanks OP

    • I had to get 4x$20 gift cards. How did you get an $80 one. Didn't see that as an option?

      • +1

        Click on "Other Amount". LOL

        • Thanks. Will do for the other cards. 😄

  • Can u use dm gift card at masters?

    • yes, both online and in-store.

  • +2

Gonna wait for some people to report that they have actually received their credit for the DM eGift Cards before I bite. Slightly concerned.

Also if anyone else is wondering, I have also noticed the new/updated wording for the AMEX statement credit emails after I purchase. I recently purchased some gift cards from HN and shat myself when I saw that, but I got the credit on all cards so that was fine. I do wonder though whether they have now updated their systems such that they can actually see what we have purchased, but I still feel like they can't due to privacy reasons.

Then it also made me think, when someone pays for something on their credit card with the intention of getting extended warranty, how does AMEX (or Mastercard/Visa) know whether that $300 item purchased from JB Hi-Fi on 1st Jan 2014 was actually a PS3 and not just a $300 Gift Card? Assuming they cannot see what was actually purchased, the PS3 could've been bought from Gumtree…

    Anyone have any insights?

    • +6

If you claim extended warranty they ask you for receipts and proof of what you actually purchased with your card.

    • What do you lose if you buy DM eGC and not get the Amex credit? Just spend the eGC as you ordinarily would when you shop at Woolies. This is an upside risk rather than downside.

      • +3

It's more about efficiency (and me being a little picky):
        1) I already have ~$2500 in WISH GCs at the moment so it'll be more to manage. Not impossible to use it within a year (expiry) but will definitely require some more planning/management if I purchase another ~$1k as part of this DM deal
        2) If I'm gonna get $80 for $80, I'd rather use my Platinum Edge AMEX straight at the supermarket and get 3pt/$, rather than have got 1pt/$ making this purchase. But if I get 1pt/$ and get a $80 WISH eGC for $65, then I'd prefer that.

        • you can always buy GC with a GC to prolong the expiry date

        • +1

          @spk:

True, but requires getting a bit lucky with who you get (they can choose to not allow it, as per T&C)

        • Got 3pt/$ for my $80 spent at DM on Platinum Edge AMEX. So no difference there if I were to shop for the same amount at Woolies directly (or Coles for that matter). If Amex don't honour the $15 statement credit then the downside for me is the loss of flybuys points I would otherwise get on the same $80 spent at Coles where I shop more often than Woolies.

        • +1

@Mcz: you could have saved extra 5% using cashrewards woolworths egiftcards - still get 3pts/$1 spent on platinum edge

        • @Mcz: Exactly what prozerran said.
So I actually meant rather than me spending the $80 direct at Woolies and getting 3pts/$, it'd be actually me getting 3pts/$ for the $76 ($80 - 5%) that I would've paid for the $80 worth of groceries at Woolies by having purchased an eGC from CashRewards for 5% off which still gives 3pts/$.

But good to know - didn't know that DM were 3pts/$ too!

        • @prozerran: oh I forgot about Cash Rewards. Thanks for reminding me :) Yes I did get $5.60 from my DM purchase which made it a 7% discount. Not much of a downside risk after all. That being my first Transaction that went through CR, not sure when I will get my hands on the money though :)

        • @Mcz: Ah, forgot about factoring in CashRewards too (because it almost always never works for GCs), but agreed. As you said, less of a downside risk.

    • Dont whine if you miss out ok.

      • Haven't bought yet so nothing to whine about!

      • Don't wine if you miss out ok.

        FTFY

Bought the gift cards. Got the $15 credit today. Spent the gift card today as bigw buying nappies.

    • AMEX can know your DM Giftcard purchase in this case because the transaction record shows DM Bella Vista. And there is no DM store in Bella Vista so they know what is happening. If knowing this and being strict,AMEX can not issue you credit.

      • +3

Don't think this is an issue because this Amex deal specifically requires you to spend on DM online, not in store?

  • I made a woolworths online purchase for $102, they charged my card, but then a day later i got the usual out of stock email, and got refunded $22 worth of goods, now do i have to buy $20 worth of goods again, or will the $102 that they charged my card still count?

    • +2

you'll have to spend another $20 probably. Unless they gave the refund in the form of a giftcard and it does not hit your amex account.

    • did they actually deduct $102?
I've had orders cancelled due to out of stock, but my card wasn't charged.

    • Similar thing happened to me. I bought $121 worth to get $20 cashback from cashrewards. They have refunded $23 for out of stock item. I got $20 back from AMEX but not sure if I'll get $20 from cashrewards.

      • Worked out in the end, ended up getting the $20 back

        • they can reverse the credit to your account…

        • Hi indianregulator, did u still have the $20 back from AMEX or AMEX reverse it back?

        • @akanie: Nope, AMEX did not reverse it, still got it

    • Did you get your cashback okay? I spent $100.10 and the same thing happened to me with a $25 refund for an out of stock fruit.

  • Heads up, the Kaspersky plugin was stopping me from checking out. Try disabling it if you're having trouble.

anyone received their amex reward $ from a dan murphys GC purchase yet?

    • tommorrow we will see

  • +13

OK, here is the good news some people have been waiting for. $15 credit has been received https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/39370/37004/image.jpeg

    • Yes, indeed good news! I received mine as well this morning.

    • Has anyone got the $15 credit on a registered supplementary card?

      • YES! Many times. As long as the amex number is different it is ok. Doesnt work with Westpac because their supplimentry number is the same as the main card, ok for NAB and AMEX and ANZ.

        I got back 6x $15 credits

  • +2

Got my $15 credit for Dan Murphy's too! Hello $80 Opal credit for $65!

  • I've got the credit back too.

  • I also got the credit back :)

  • +1

Told you guys credit will be credied in due time.

Now for more amex cards need moooorrrreeee

    • I also made my purchase on 2 Feb and received Amex email shortly at 11.15pm. Haven't received my $15 credit yet so I can only hope that it was due to after hours transaction my credit will arrive a day later than most people here….

      • Same here, I made purchase on 2 Feb 2pm , got AMEX email instantly but still no $15 credit.

        • Just received the $15 credit.

      • Mine came through as well.

  • Got my $15*4 credit for Dan Murphy's 4 Gift cards.

    Thanks op

  • OK i tried both cash rewards and amex rebate for Dan Murphy $80 deal.

both worked. got cash rewards $5.6 back on the same day and $15 credit back in 3 days. not too bad at all.

used $80 dan murphy gift card in Big W to purchase nappies :)

it worked out to be $20.6 off $80 purchase. a bit over 25% discount.

    ALL GOOD!!!!

    • +1

you got $5.60 back on the same day? Do you mean "tracked" or "Ready to get paid"? I have never experienced same day "ready to get paid" before, all of my transactions took 2-3 months before I can transfer the cashbacks into my bank account.

      • sorry to be accurate, $5.6 has appeared as cash rewards credit. i have yet taken it out to my bank card yet.

  • I purchased $100 DM eGift card online on 02.02.2016 using AMEX issued Amex card.
So far no credit rebate was posted as of now.

    • The email states "Credits usually take 5 days to appear on your account upon completion of your qualifying transaction, but may take up to 90 days after the offer has ended"

So just wait, Should appear on your statement on Monday 8th February 2016

    • gstfree, i puchased $80 DM eGift online on 02.02.16 at 8.30am. I got my cash back today. I purchased 2nd DM eGift online at 11pm on 02.02.16, I still waiting for the cash back, It should appear in the account tomorrow. The reason is the 2nd DM eGift purchased late, it miss Amex system's cycle cut time.

      • Thanks Turd and Purple. I will report back once the credit is posted. Cheers.

        • gstfree, I received the credit back for the 2ndDM eGift i purchased on the 02.02.16 at 11pm. Cheers

        • The credit has hit my account now. Chèers.

  • Thanks OP.
    Reporting all 4x $15 received.
All 4x $5.6 cashrewards are logged up.

    $80- $15 -$5.60 = $59.40

    Thanks again.

    $25% off.

    Wooot.

And I had purchased 2x $50 myers gift cards.
Then spent free $20 in woolies.

    :D

  • Is the dans / woollies offer over? No Amex connect offers available?

    • No, both offers are still available. I just registered an AMEX card I forgot to register earlier on. Use the manual links and enter the information required. Very simple process.

  • Got my $15 credit hit my Amex account now.

    • Got 2 x mine also and $20 for Woolies.. GREAT!!

      • +1

TrailerTrash, the $20 credit for Woolies, did u puchases gift card? Or goods from Woolies ?

        • @Purple I purchased Goods from Woolies. Combined the shopping with the $20 Amex deal with a CashRewards New Customer and got the $20 CR cashback and % off, resulting in a $135 shop costing me around $85 (after CR).

Good for large bulky items I can't be bothered carrying around the supermarket.

  • got charged by DM, but no gift card sent :(

  • Got my creidt , about a day later,

my first amex card cashback, ive got a bank issued card so was surpirsed

    mine came up with
    Open transaction details
AMEX AMEX Dan Murphys CR BELLA VISTA 000

however, my cash rewards transaction said tracking at the start, but now its GONE!
    oh well, still happy

how often do these amex deals come around? do dans ones come around often???

ps some guys are saying 4 credits, do you guys all have 4 amex cards???

    • Yes I have 7, and getting more soon :)

      • How in earth do you have 7 amex cards

        • not that hard if you 'really' wanted to.
With cards like the Virgin and Qantas free cards, which also have free supplementary cards you could get 6 with just 2 free amex cards and 2 supplementary cards on each (one for the wife, one for the dog)

        • +2

          @SBOB:

Having a supplementary card for yourself to keep tax deductible expenses separate is also a good idea, saving you hassle to highlight them on a combined statement. You only need to print the relevant supplementary account statements for your tax accountant ;)

  • Got my credit for the 80 spend at Dans :)

    Thanks amex/dan/unity

  • I didn't think the supplementary cards worked with these offers?

My Wife and I have a single account with two cards (different numbers), and the T's & C's on the amex website state that supplementary cards are not valid for the offer.

But it actually works if the card numbers are different??

    • Yes, it will work. Just make sure you register each card.

    • Card numbers different it will work.

T&C's as many have pointed out also exclude gift cards.

  • So, if it's my first Woolies online order I should theoretically be able to get 10% off and free shipping plus $20 back. if I spend >$100.
    So $112 of groceries delivered for $81. Not bad… $112 (less 10%) = $101 (less $20 credit) = $81

  • I created the gift card for $80 and added to cart but the next page says my cart is empty… what gives?!

  • Bought two gift cards and got $5.60 each from cash rewards. Bought my third gc and only got $2.40 back. They must've caught onto the scheme now.

    • For mine, Cash rewards is showing for the 2 gift cards, and then later, for grog bought using those gift cards. I doubt that all of them will actually get paid.

    • CR for my first two $80 GCs was at 7%. My third purchase made today was 6% ($4.80).

  • Have bought 3x Dan Murphys $80 e-gifts cards so far
Cashrewards cashback via email was $2.40, (some have said $5.60)
With the AMEX $15 cashback that is a total saving of 21.75% off the $80 value :).
Just to confirm what others have said, used the e-gift card tonight @ a Woolies checkout and no problems

    • hi coops1 - just to confirm so u bought a Dan murphy egift card and got the $15 cash back on that + you also used Dan murphy card at woolies and it worked?
      is that correct?
