That's very expensive, Has been 4 for Aud $77 previously. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/221011

    • Darn, wish I didn't miss out on that.

  • +15

Getflix is really trying to flog their product, as if they will be around in 30 years.

    • +2

They are seriously talking about breaking down the country differences anyway with Netflix and there's been some movements since apparently. Hence when this happens, what value will Getflix be?

      • This isn't the case, they are cracking down on geoblocking. Not buying the rights to all the content in various countries, as other holders have the rights for certain shows.

        • Wrong. They are cracking down on geoblocking where required, but trying to eventually open up content so hopefully one day they won't need to.

          Don't blame Netflix.

        • @PainToad: At no point am I blaming netflix, its distribution laws, content rights, internet access and availability which is holding us back. All i'm saying is that I wouldn't hold your breath on having the same content available across the oceans. The only content that is and will be for a while which is unified across countries is Netflix originals, which even that there are some irregularities. Netflix doesn't care about people accessing content using the various methods to bypass their basic geoblocking, but content providers do, therefore there is an obligation on Netflix to do something about it, how much effort they will go to I don't know, but still it is in their court until it is pushed to court to force them ;-)

With netflix trying to fix the geoblocking i wouldn't buy any subscription for over a year.

  • +4

    I paid $50 in November

    • How do you find the service…any problems?

      • Have been using it daily for a over and haven't had any issues with the service yet but I would not pay USD$69 for it.

  • +1

    I paid US$35.10 in November

  • bought this last time, for when it was about 1/2 this price..

With the new rumblings from Netflix and the occasional people currently having issues with being identified using a proxy by Netflix, I don't think I would be dropping $100 (which is 3-4 years of 'normal' discount pricing) on getflix assuming it would work for 30 years

  • It works fine, problem is Chromecast doesn't. It refuses to play anything from US as it uses it's own DNS regardless.

    • Just block google dns on the router

    • +3

Yeah it's just a matter of going to the 'static route' section on your router and adding two new rules, saying 'if traffic tries to go to either of Google's dns addresses, point it to this useless IP address'. There's a tutorial on the 'unblock us' site. I may have done one on my site, but I lack the commitment to confirm and provide a specific link (www.Unblocking.tv). This is why the site is floundering :)

      • I'll take a look but I think my Telstra router may not give me the option.

        • +1

I got my telstra thompson tg782 to work but it was a pain to figure out, took a good few days to figure it out and change the settings.

        • @wpw: I've got the Technicolor 787 I think (newest one) and it is locked down pretty tight. I'll take a look later.

        • @Where's_That_Cake: yeah you probably dont have the option available. I just bought a cheap wireless router, reconfig'd the Telstra router/modem into a modem only & used the router to add the dns settings. Cost me $20 & an hour of time.

        • +1

          @Where's_That_Cake:
Had to go through windows cmd to write to changes as the interface didn't do jack.

  • Can verify, US Netflix still working with Getlix.

They have a workaround for Chromecast issue on their site I think, or directions to it (due to forced Google DNS in the device itself as far as I can remember. Or quick Google search. ). Not an easy one; depends on the type and functionality of your router. Ended up buying a 3rd gen AppleTV which was easier to figure out.

  • My current subscription is up in 2 months, does anyone know what criteria Getflix use to determine who is a new customer?

    • Pretty sure it would be email address, but I'd use a new cc too.

Personally prefer dns4me, as you can mask custom sites too, and they have regular huge discounts.

      • +2

No you don't need a new CC, just new email

        • Thanks, will proceed with a new email address

  • Has anyone had problems with the VPN? I'm finding with certain countries, it will DC after a few minutes.

  • +5

Got stung with ICETV no way would I take out a lifetime on anything like this.

    • Ice cold.

  • +1

Has anyone else had this issue :

Blocked Google DNS on the router, and it works casting US Netflix to tv via chromecast, although when I want to watch Netflix on my phone, it doesn't work, giving 12001 error.

Online I read that a recent Netflix app update made I so you need to access Google's DNS to watch on the device. Not sure if this is just to piss people off using Smart DNS for geo-hopping.

I did install an older version of the Netflix app on my phone, and it now works, although the old app can be a bit dodgy sometimes (freezes and skips).

    • Not heard of this, but something that could be related is that Google has two dns servers and you should block both. Roku requires this.

    • +1

Yeah you need Netflix app v3.7.1 from 3.7.2 onwards it looks for google dns.
If you have the ability to redirect routes you can redirect 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 to your smart dns & that work with chromecast & new android app

      • This is router dependant. Can be user-set on some routers (all custom firmware such as Open-DDWRT etc) so will have to check the Google.

  • Great service, has VPN as well so thumbs up for me. Had for cheaper previously though.

  • +2

I'd be wary of anyone offering lifetime deals as the servers cost $'s to run every month. It could be the need some money to fight Netflix, but it could be a sign they're struggling for money & could go belly up soon.

No idea why but I'm sure I commented on this deal earlier and it's now gone…

Lifetime GetFlix is only USD39 on this Stack Social link. Nearly half the price of this deal's link.

    • +1

Your earlier comment may have been removed as your link is to an expired deal that others couldn't take up even if they wanted to.

      • No. I meant the whole previous deal got deleted. The previous deal was post ID 233669 as opposed to this one of 233660. If I try to view it or my comment, or even click through one of the notifications regarding a reply to it, I get a page saying 'Deal Unpublished by Moderator' and then a timed redirect to this post instead. Fortunately the URL on my notification still shows the post ID so I can see it is in a different, now unpublished, deal.

Regarding this offer, that page was valid with 5 days remaining when I posted it a couple of hours ago just as it was this morning unless I'm going barmy. I even tested it in an incognito tab in a browser with no cache to check it was still a valid URL prior to posting. As of this moment it is actually in status 'coming soon' but 'sold out', not even expired. Shame because that was a great price. Probably worth keeping an eye on the URL for when (if?) they activate it again. I used it back in October and then again in November and again in early January. Worked every time I tried the URL directly. :(
