  - for Thinkpad Edge. 5400RPM is meh, but you might be able to shift it over to the ultrabay (if it has one….) and put an SSD in its place. Or even a mSata one

  I have an older version of this model and run LINUX Mint on it. It's free, super fast and convenient.

  Some Lenovo (at least as of a month or so ago) have a downgrade to Win7 option. If you're going to downgrade then downgrading to Win7 makes much more sense than downgrading to Win8.
