  • look at her right thumb

    suspiciously long?

    • You mean her left

    • And you know what they say about long thumbs…

15 flights on AirAsia got me like 650 points… which equals….. 1 dollar off

absolutely no point with these BigPoints crap

Yeah it is a bad frequent flyer program honestly I've avoided air Asia and prefer jetstar can stand that lcct

to be honest KLIA2 is now open and it's HUGE and really great.

unlike their old airport that was a tin shed garbage dump

        • IMHO its ok, but not great. It is certainly better than LCCT (their old terminal). You sometimes have to walk a brisk 15 minutes to make your connection. It is so very big, and a few very short moving walk ways are of very little help. And often immigration queues are a nightmare. But the price for AirAsia fares makes up for it.

        • @peck:

The non sale prices are horrid and more than full fare carriers sometimes

        • @DaTa: ever since Air Asia X went broke and couldn't pay their staff the real sale fares havent come back, dont think they ever will?

        • @Makoto: I do pretty well on their sale prices, but book 13 months ahead. Also I don't beat myself up if I have to discard a ticket and claim back just the taxes. Risk = reward ? But I agree that some of their full prices are 'shockers'.

        • @Makoto:

I do not recall this at all when did this happen?

        • @DaTa: november 2014, they couldnt pay their staff and Tony Fernandez had to take a more active role in the company because they were broke

    where does it says that?

    • +2

      In their email.

  • Any indicatiom/speculation on what the sale fare prices will be?

  • Hoping for some cheap BKK flights, they seem few and far between these days.

    • I expect that there will be, if you book a long way out, are flexible with dates. Also a little bit of savings if willing to transit/do Immigration especially on the return trip (ie.Booking DMK - KUL and KUL - MEL legs separately). I don't carry baggage. I do pay for seats but at the last minute in case of change of plans. Realistically I doubt that you could get it under $450 plus seat, plus food, plus baggage !! Also I believe that they have introduced a higher baggage charge if you don't pay for your baggage at the initial time of booking.

  • the email from airasia is 7 MAR 2016, 00:00 GMT +8
it should be 3am at AEST ?

    • I think you are correct but March 6 00:00

    • Or 3am AEDT?

Is anyone getting the sale prices up??

    • No, not coming up

    • Any luck?

      • Showing up now..

Some really good fares. KUL-SYD for 299 MYR in October

  • I saw some sale prices but cannot find any free seat :|

  • I've noticed some routes aren't included in the sale at all (for the dates I've looked at anyway). I wonder if this is all the seats, or whether they'll release more seats on the 7th…

  • They are cheaper than a couple of years ago. For example April next year coming back from Ho Chi Minh City via KUL is $149.

The website is nice and fast atm, so easy to browse around, just gotta work out where to go now.

I have found that you have to go through the link of the Mega Sale on the website to show any Mega fares. Try this promo code 060316BL (was in the address bar, and only comes up on some search pages)

    • Stayed up until 3.30 but I didn't know needed to go through the link! Bummer!! anyway this morning I got some reasonable Syd - Dmk (Bangkok) Happy!!

      • I know! Set alarm at 2, then realised it was 3, stuffed around for half hour before giving up. Got bali flights this morning. Good fare, but wouldn't say it was mega though.

      • Can I ask how much you paid and for what dates?
I'm not sure if the fares I'm seeing are promotional or not…

        • +1

If you don't get anything showing up for March - May 2017, then you are not going through the promo link.

I just booked 31 Oct 17 Syd - DMK fast flythru Kul $A209 using Paypal avoided the $10 fee. Then Kul - Syd 7 Nov 17 MYR 299 + 12 MYR fee ~ A$100. (paid with Citi Plus so no conversion fees) Excludes seat, food, baggage. Just need to wait for cheaper DMK - KUL for 7 Nov. (Expect to pay $A50) Add also the hassle of 2 X Immigration at KUL on the way back. So adding seats costs later, I have snared a trip to Bangkok for less than $400 including seat selection. (Will wait for online check in, and if I have an aisle seat allocated, then I will not pay to select a seat!!

        • @peck:

How did you book so far ahead into Nov 2017? When I try it always just says sorry flights aren't available for these dates.

        • @f1ng3rs: OOps ! :(( Sooo sorry! I meant 2016.
          It should read:-
"I just booked 31 Oct 16 Syd - DMK fast flythru Kul $A209 using Paypal avoided the $10 fee. Then Kul - Syd 7 Nov 16."
I cannot edit my post now.
I have dates swirling around in my head. I should triple check my work, especially when talking/booking AirAsia, because once booked your money is GONE!!
My furthest away booking is Syd - Dmk 22 May 2017.(Yes 2017 hehe!)

        • @peck:

I am hearing you. I always get a slight feeling of dread when I click the submit button on an OS flight in case I mucked it up :-)

        • @f1ng3rs:Oh yeh my dread feeling then is overwhelming!! It is like juggling sharp pointy knives. Over about 8 years I have only received a couple of flesh wounds with those sh1tty automatic insurances, and so I consider myself very lucky.

  • I usually use my Citibank Plus card for foreign currency transactions, however yesterday I used my Citibank Signature Card for an AirAsia small international currency transaction (~A$40) and immediately received an SMS from Citibank saying that I needed to SMS or ring them. When I rang them they said that my account was blocked. It seems that it will happen every time that I use it for foreign currency transactions. They then unblocked it.

  • that's strange. I see sales but no free seats!

  • How do we pay? I am trying to book a flight to KL from Syd, but page is not allowing me to proceed to payment. I am stuck at seat selection…
Do we pay actual amount or we need to have all those points to be able to purchase?
    Thanks for clarification

Points. Just read the rules. Damn it)

    • I think that if you are on the redemption page, then you need to have the points. If you are on the 'booking page', make sure that you are clicking the 'agree' box, and also clicking on the type of payment that you are going to do 'box'.

      • Yes, i was on redemption page.

And booking page - how do i go tgere? Just regular link of airasia?

        • You needed to be a member to get the sale email link for 24 pre sale access. Otherwise you have to wait until 3am AEDT 7/3/16 for the 'public' sale. Then I think that you can get it on the regular airasia site.
