Go to Bunnings and get transparent cables then run them on the corners of the walls, under carpets, or the ceiling if you have to. They aren't very visible if you hide them well, and since you'll be buying them in bulk, you can have them as long as you need it!

        • @soupiejr:

Don't put them under the carpet. I did that with flat cable that was designed to be under the carpet.. you could feel and see it. Couldn't remove it. Worst mistake ever.

        • +1

@llama: Because unfortunate souls keep buying them. What's next… Curved Soundbars, to match the Curved TV :D

      • +2

I have one because I really didn't need 5 speakers in my bedroom for my 32inch second TV…
The soundbar sounds great, and unlike the cheap $100 Logitech speakers and sub I did have hooked up to it before, it has proper digital inputs so I didn't need to hook my TV up to it using the headphones Jack.. It's also got Bluetooth audio streaming which has been very handy.

        • unlike the cheap $100 Logitech speakers and sub I did have hooked up to it before, it has proper digital inputs

Logitech speakers are shit for sound quality.

Any decent pair of self-powered speakers will have digital input. This feature is not unique to sound bars.

so I didn't need to hook my TV up to it using the headphones Jack

You need not do that with a decent set of speakers either.

It's also got Bluetooth audio streaming which has been very handy.

So what? Self powered speakers are also available with Bluetooth. I bought a $10 (yes, TEN dollar) speaker from Kmart the other day that has Bluetooth.

The problem with sound bars is that they are a fashion item. They generally produce a inferior audio quality compared to individual speakers of the same total price.

  • Anyone know if any of these are good for a TV setup?

    • +1

      Any of what?

And what do you mean by "TV setup"?

Most people just plug in power and antenna, hit "auto scan" and once the channels are found and stored, the TV is setup.

      • Please disregard, I am thick :)

Ended up buying a speaker set. Will work out how to set up a home theatre system when they arrive :)

  • Anyone have any experience with the MHCECL77BT micro hifi? Rather tempted at that price. Does it have optical in?

  • would the SHAKEX1D be good for a TV?

  • +2

They seem to have removed the voucher/coupon code box altogether from the site, Not just for the sale items!

    • Just like Harvey Norman, this community sinks another voucher program.

      • +1

HN vouchers were one per registration (so you could have multiple vouchers easily) but this is what get get after a purchase (usually in the box, or after a targeted survey).

Can hardly call them the same.

        • I'm not calling them the same. I'm just saying the OzBargain community is most likely responsible for ending both. What other community out there promotes the use of the $25 voucher every time there was a deal over $150? Similar with Sony. People discovered an exploit, and began using vouchers that weren't even theirs. Sony would have got suspicious when loads of voucher codes were redeemed (probably in bulk).

  • +1

Soundbase not included? Interested in HTXT3.

    • Discontinued after the last sale

  • +7

What a shame cant use my $30 voucher 😉

  • +3

    Not many good bargains imo

Lots of the prices are discounted to retail new.

  • hmmm must agree with some of the others not many (if any) bargains in this list.

  • The M4's seem to be a good deal atm.

    • Maybe its me but had a look and it seems sold out

  • Bought the standing speaker pair for $178!
Amazon sells them for more than this each! Bargain! Thanks op!

    • +1

Yep. Bought a pair as well :)

      • +1

Congrats on the purchase TA! My brother @imc123 purchased this too, says it's an incredible unit. I'm sure you'll enjoy it too!

        • So looking forward to getting them. Thanks :)

        • @tightarse: My order arrived today. Have you got your speakers yet and are they as good as the reviews say they are?

        • @gomango: Haven't been delivered yet. Can't wait to have a listen to them on the weekend (if they arrive by then).

    • It's just one speaker, not a pair.

    • +2

I'm really tempted by them, but I dont have anything to drive them with, and recivers/amps are so damn expensive

      • Know of any budget amps that would be suitable for it?

        • +1

Spent an hour or more researching it, and nope! lol

        • @Pacify:

Thanks anyway. I bought the speakers without knowing how I'll set them up (just believing they're good and I need speakers). Looks like I'll have to hit up one of my audiophile mates… I'm used to plug-and-play.

        • Yeah, i should have just bought them before they went out of stock, I delayed too long

    • out of stock now in less than an hour :(

    • out of stock noooo!

    • Agree , Bought a pair!

Missed the SSCS5 but got the better ones.

    • The surround sound speaker system (https://www.sony.com.au/product/SS-CS310CR?cid=LP:ClearanceS…) contains exactly the same floor standing speakers, plus a pair of 100w bookshelf speakers and a centre speaker for an extra $41, which I bought.

      Thanks TA! Legend

      • I think they are different to the SS-CS3 speakers.
The set says "1-way 2-driver Surround Sound Speaker System"

        • If you check the product page for the SSCS310CR:
The "1-way 2-driver speaker" is describing only the centre speaker.
The front speakers are "3-way 4-speaker system" (same as the SSCS3P)
And the surround are "1-way, 1-driver speaker system"

        Hi Fieldo85,

I've called Sony and the sales rep to confirm, and the conversation went like this:

Me: Are the front speakers included in the CS310CR package a pair of CS3?

Rep: Please hold, I will check for you… (1 min later)… No, I've been told that they don't have the tweeters.

Me: (frowns) Ok…. so what's the model of the front speakers in the CS310CR?

Rep: Please hold, I will check again for you… (1 min later)… It's the SSCS3P.

Me: Isn't that the CS3… sold in a pair? That's what the website is showing as the model number.

Rep: No, I've been told they're different.

I guess we'll never know until it arrives. :(

        • +2

it is the CS3, if the SS-CS310CR manual is anything to go by!

          https://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/SS-CS310CR

        • I just compared the specs for the SSCS3P and the front speakers from the SSCS310CR again. They are identical in every single spec.

If "they don't have the tweeters" it would be impossible for them to reproduce frequencies in the 50,000 Hz range (as stated in the specs).

The "rep" was talking out his arse.

    • Jerk. Sold out now :( I hope they are faulty.

  • The HAPS1B looks like a nice unit. Great reviews on Amazon and the price is sweet.

    • ordered one but it's on backorder :(

      • You still got it at the discounted price?…I'm gonna grab one too…looks like a sweet unit.

        • Yep, $679 :)

        • @gwindsor:
I tried buying it but I didn't get an option to input credit card details. Only choose payment type.

        • @bbourizk:

Sorry to hear mate. Worked fine for me. I had no problems entering Credit card details and have received an order confirmation email.

        • @gwindsor:
          Nice mate,
Should have been on it quicker…This is the second time it's popped so maybe it might pop up again.
Let us know how you like it when you get it.

        • @bbourizk:

Will do. Still not guaranteed though according to Ts & Cs.

        • When I purchased something that was in stock, it asks for your payment type, then once you hit place order, at the end it asks for your credit card details. I found it odd too that you couldn't input your credit card details straight away. Maybe give it another go, after finalizing your order it should at the very end ask you to input your credit card details.

        • @AusKat:
I went through the order confirmation but still didn't get to put any cc details in. Just a message about been notified when there's stock. The price was at the reduced one.

        • @bbourizk:

Maybe keep trying? Mine is at the 'Ready for despatch' stage now.

        • @bbourizk: Ahh okay, thanks for the info.

        • @gwindsor:
Tried a couple of times yesterday.
Now it has a big sold out sign in the listing with no option to buy.
Hopefully they fulfill it for me. But since I didn't pay anything can't see it happening. Hopefully another deal pops up… Last time they had the silver ones fire the same price.

        • Just got my invoice & connote number :)

        • @gwindsor:
Nice… Give us your thoughts when you get it.

        • @bbourizk:

Had a quick listen last night with my HD650 headphones, and I can report that this unit is fantastic! I can now get rid of my CD player, Headphone amp and stereo amp, along with gaining the bonus of hi-res audio and internet radio.

        • @gwindsor:
          Nice mate.
Hopefully some more discounted ones pop up and I'll try to grab one.

Thanks Opp . Ordered the Portable AM / FM radio ICFP26 for $14 . Been looking for something like this to listen to the cricket and AFL on.

what are people's thoughts on the HDR - AZ1VR action camera for 249?

  • Well done TA on a popular deal!

  • Is the Xperia E4G worth it for $149? Looking to buy a sub $200 phone as a gift for my younger brother

    • +1

these regularly show up at coles for $99 (although locked to Telstra), apparently kmart once as well

    • Buy the m4 aqua, much better, it's only 30 more than your budget

      Edit: 40. Still worth it

  • Anyone have a C4 and care to comment what they think of it?
Good bad indifferent. What's the camera like and selfie front cam.

  • SSHA1 or SSHW1 to pair with uda-1a

RRP compared to US prices is crazy! DOUBLE

    • +1

It's because we are the lucky country :P

    • Sony's always been like that. Double the price elsewhere, and they're also the toughest with restrictions if you try to purchase outside AU. They prohibit US retailers from selling to us.

  • Anyone have any experience with the MHCGT5D Mini Hi-Fi System for $549?

    https://www.sony.com.au/product/MHC-GT5D?cid=LP:ClearanceSal…

    • TANK!

    • UGLY UGLY UGLY.

    • Get the shake 77's if the budget ( and stock ) allows, $100 more and way more badass haha

    • I also am looking at this unit especially as it provides soundbar option ..but can't find any reviews.

    • Well I purchased a unit due to the fact that I can convert it into a party speaker from soundbar mode. We'll see how it goes I guess…..

    • So I received the brand new speaker without any box damage and I must say the unit is larger than I thought but it blows the roof off of my house!

Fantastic for either a home theatre or party setup. The sound is quite clear with warm bass.

  • +1

    Shame no DSLR lens

  • Just bought a pair of their Bluetooth headset MDRAS600BTB. Thank you Cashrewards, all that Christmas shopping is still giving me more presents for myself..

  • I am tempted to buy the STR-DN1060 to replace my 14 years old ONKYO TX-DS494

    • I was thinking similarly but disappointed that even as a 'flagship' unit, they cut back and removed the AM tuner. Aside from FM, you're reliant on 3rd party software providers… and we know how long that lasts in today's corporate/IT world.

Look at youtube and Skype on tvs for an example; people got 2-3 years use out of them and then the functionality is gone.

      • What ever i buy,99% of it's use will be downloaded TV and the occasional Blu-ray. I haven't listened to the radio at home for years.

    • If you do end up replacing it, I'd be happy to grab the old Onkyo, I have a 2004 crt it is perfect for.

  • Looks like the site is being ozbargained

  • If it is on back order, will it ever get delivered?

    • Read the 3rd dot point in the post :)

      • Thanks. I hope they are quick with the refund then :-(
