Legitimate Shop in Ho Chi Minh for Flip Flops or Similar High Quality Thong

When I travel in Asia I generally wear fit flops which are a very thick high quality thong which can come in fancy styles that look like sandals.

Last night in my first night the one toe strap broke. I have these and a pair of high heels. I can shuffle in the fit flops but need a high quality thong type shoe that can be hosed off and that is attractive. I'm in district 1. Very near that big market but all of their stuff will be rubbish.

Can anyone help me find a store or shopping centre where I can find a replacement? Haviannas or the like won't do as my feet will start hurting within the hour. I need thick rubber soles. These ones are about three or four times the thickness of Haviannas. I have to replace these today.

Thanks

I hate to disappoint you but there is nothing attractive about Fit Flops.

I agree Bến Thành market is full of crap, most vendors actually source their stuff from the same supplier so you see pretty much the same goods strewn all across the market, all at different prices.

Let me give you a piece of advice as a fellow traveller — buy foot wear that is comfortable to wear and is durable. Forget about how it looks. When you accidentally step in dog-turd or in a muddy puddle, your footwear is pretty much ruined anyway.
You're a tourist not a model on the runway.

  • I ended up getting them fixed for 30,000vnd. Very happy with all of it. These are durable shoes. This pair I've worn for two years and the ones before for five years before the same thing happened.

I went through Ben Thanh and they tried to sell me fakes for 3,800,000. Over $200aud. Of course they kept coming down. I think I'll go have the man replace the other toe strap as that is the only weak point in the shoe. I'm so glad I don't have to wear another pair in.

  • if you wear thongs in Asia you're just another ugly tourist not to mention you're gonna get dirty black feet

thongs and bum bag your regular travel gear? you should stay home instead of embarrassing yourself

  • you're better off buying a comfortable pair of runners, let some common sense prevail please
