I just got my Gear VR yesterday and was going to grab the Ipega PG-9021 for $35 from eBay which other people recommend, but then I came across this price in Amazon for the Moga which has much more reviews. This Moga is really the sweet spot in terms of the best controller per dollar, available to Australia.
Camel Camel Camel still says US$37 before shipping. The price listed is for Parcel Point pickup so you save $1.
Note: the L2 and R2 buttons are crap, apparently you don't need these for Gear VR, but this is not the best controller for PC or Android games that need those buttons.
How do you GearVR with a controller when it is strapped to your face? Unless you mean it is behaving like a normal bluetooth controller that you don't need Gear VR to use, which you don't really have to mention Gear VR :/
