Samsung Galaxy S5 G900I 16GB 4G LTE Android Phone WHITE, $385 + $30 Shipping @ Catchdeal.com.au

121

Just came across this deal when looking for a reasonably priced Samsung phone <$400 mark. Don't think it is the lowest price ever but seem like a good price for this phone at the moment. Please let the community know if you can find this cheaper anywhere else.

  • Done

  • does it support band 28 ? with dual sim ?

    • It does according to GSMarena:

      LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 28(700), 40(2300) - G900I

Not sure it dual sim or not though.

    • +1

I have the this variant and it's not dual SIM unfortunately.

  • Local stock or grey import?

    • Not sure, however the website says Shipping time is 3-7 days.

    • +3

Would guess grey given notes about 12 month warranty from the retailer.

  • There seem to be blue ones in stock as well at techriffic for the same price.

worst phone samsung released by far

    • Is that from personal experience?

    • +5

I don't understand the hate for this phone.

Sure it may not be as attractive as the s6 or s7, but feature-wise it is a great phone (IMO).

      • Water-resistant
      • Great camera
      • MicroSD expansion
      • Removable battery
      • Good screen
      • Wireless charging

I'm tempted to buy this phone over the s6 or s7, simply because it still fits my requirements (removable battery, microsd, not gigantic)

      • +1

I am skipping S6, waiting for S7 to be a reasonable price, won't wait for the S5 to break, because it won't

      • +1

It was regarded as a lemon generally, I recall being disapointed. I can't even remember why but I would never buy one, even if it's good :/ it's just ingrained in my brain as the 'bad samsung'
Also why is it so expensive considering how old it is?

        • Yep I remember it being universally panned upon release.

I think people were wanting the s6 with non plastic body and eventually Samsung delivered a year later.

Samsung has become iphonesque with price depreciation, mostly due to demand methinks.

$370 for the excellent LG G4 last month had me very tempted

I bought one from HN's last Christmas sale for $374 (it was $399 but I had used that $25 subscription discount as well)and I am quite happy with it. All the things you've listed + the design of it seem attractive to me (not a big fan of those bigger, "edgy" phones).

        • +1

I did the same but for some reason couldn't subscribe to the discount. Still good value at $399. I've seen them in Big W for $699.

        • @davelarz: Yep, you're right. When that deal was on the other stores (except OW) were selling it from $599-$699.

I remember a lot of people had difficulties with the $25 subscription discount back then. It was the first time I subscribed to it so it went through easy for me. But as you've said, it was well worth the $399. As long as it works I am not going to change it any time soon. Had been using Nokia N8 for 5 years before this one. lol

        • I hope this phone will stay functional and lag free for 5 years. Maybe I'm dreaming. lol

      • I personally love this phone. I bought it to replace my Sony Z2 which had a dodgy battery. Removable battery, 2G of ram expandable memory, waterproof and Android 6.0 what more do you need especially at this price.

        • I just bought this phone and I'm very happy with it-how did you upgrade to android 6?-mine's still stuck on 5

        • @matttttt:
It popped up the other day. Bare in mind mine is a Korean version s5.

Loved my S4, and this improves in almost every way. Fantastic battery life, great to use, screen as always is bright and clear. <3 Samsung S5

  • Isn't this similar to other grey import prices? Local stock was close to this price at OfficeWorks before Xmas, I'm holding out until a similar deal pops up.

The Galaxy S5 SM-G900i is the Australian model and can handle the Telstra B28 700 MHz and Optus B40 2,300 MHz. Which the other variants being sold don't cover.

    Network/Bearer

    Multi-SIM: Single-SIM
    SIM size: Micro-SIM (3FF)

    2G GSM
    B8 (GSM 850MHz), B10 (E-GSM 900MHz), B13 (DCS 1,800MHz), B14 (PCS 1,900MHz)

    3G UMTS
    B1 (IMT 2,100MHz), B2 (PCS 1,900MHz), B5 (US 850MHz Cellular), B8 (GSM 900MHz)

    4G LTE
    B1 (2,100), B2 (1,900), B3 (1,800), B5 (850), B7 (2,600), B8 (900), B40 (2,300), B28 (700)

Also what covers do people recommend for the s5? Both back and book/wallet type.

    • I bought a few colours of the Move - S View cases on sale from Dick Smith a few weeks ago at $2 each. They seem to be going for $5 now - I don't think that's how a sale works though.

      • I also saw these covers at DS. MOVE Samsung Galaxy S5 Battery Back Folio Cover. Not sure if they are any good. They have some sort of chip and somehow clip onto the back of the phone.

        • Yea same, they're good. They have official Samsung supported ID chips for the S View lock screen functions. It has a wallpaper, clock, weather and camera apps.

  • This one has saved my S5 about 10 times in 9 months. It certainly adds thickness(prob increases to 11 or 12 mm) but I trust that it will protect the phone.

  • Is this a good upgrade from a S4? Dont really want an S6 or S7 with the new styling and junk.

  • Don't bother with these mob - they're scammers
