  Thanks for this - bought the Sony BDPS6500. The reason? Because I still have a bunch of dvds and blu rays that are not available to stream on the platforms I'm connected to. Plus with built in wifi and apps I don't have to bother with using my phone and a chromecast to make my old plasma smart.

  Just a quick question have a old tv and recently i have lost signal from set top box hear but dont see picture.
  Thinking it was set top box then hdmi cables or hdmi switcher,my apple tv works but sometimes comes and goes so think my hdmi on tv has fault.
  Its old tv and not worth doing anything with at least 7yrs old it not more.
  But my question is do most new tv's come with set top boxes built in?
  Saving having to get a set top box as well or do you still need these?
  I suppose they are handy for other tvs but just wondering if i got a newer tv if i still need a set top box also?

    Any new TV will have the ability to get digital tv signals, so no set top box needed anymore.

        IME, I recently bought top of the line Panasonic THCX800 series (65"), and it can record to Portable drive much like a PVR. BUT I have not tried it.

        However I own the Topfield Masterpiece HD Plus.

        I recently saw an ex Demo Masterpiece HD (500GB) at Vic.Southbank DFO JB for $199.00!.

        I am pretty sure that apart from surface scratches it's brand new as these days, they just display the units and not even hook them up to TV sets.

        BTW, Physically my Toppy and the one on sale I saw looks like this one (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/players-reco…)
