Laptop for basic multimedia, and basic homework around $400- $500?

Hi everyone.
I'm not sure what to get as far as laptop specs and pricing go.

It's for our daughter, who will want to play Minecraft, listen to her music collection, watch DVDs (discs, not digital files), be able to browse the internet and watch Youtube from various places around the house (wifi) and do simple tasks for homework.

I was just looking around, but I'm really not sure of a short list as so many brands and specs vary.

Thanks very much everyone.

HP 250 G3 15.6" Core I3-5005U 4GB 500GB for $459.00 on Ebay seems to be the most you can get for that money without looking into refurbished stock.

    Here is the link.

If you want another seller just search for the same model on ebay.

Agreed, for a $400-500 budget this looks to be the best available right now. MSY are usually the most competitive on price but their HP equivalent has a slightly older i3-4005U for the same price.

  • That's great. Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. :-)

Here is one that might suit Lenovo IdeaPad 100 15.6" 4GB/500GB Laptop $328 @ Harvey Norman No DVD slot though.

  • Thanks very much for the help everyone. Bit the bullet and bought one of the ones suggested in the Ebay link, HP 250 G3.
Should be great for her needs.

Really appreciate the help. Thanks. :-)
