Trying to Figure out if The Samsung WD13J7825KP Is a Washer/Dryer Combo

So was interested in purchasing the Samsung WD13J7825KP, however I am a little confused as to whether this unit a true washer/dryer combo.

Everyone is advertising that it as a 13Kg/7Kg combo, with a 2 star dry energy rating. Expect for Samsung. TTG Example

On the Samsung website it is listed as a washer only and the only reference in the overview is A big 13kg (7kg dry)

As it is a new product there are currently zero reviews so if anyone can shed light on this it would be appriciated before I head done to TTG to try and figure it out.

Cheers.

it seems to be a washer + air washer.

the air washer function is used to "clean" dry clothes by heating the clothes to "Remove bad odors, bacteria, and dust from the
    laundry."

see page 40 of the manual

there is, therefore, no air outlet.

where as a dryer has a "moist air" outlet to remove moisture as clothes are tumble dried

  • Air washing lel … seriously? Seems like a pointless waste of electricity to me.

    • actually it is sort of good. example: you have a shirt which looks clean but you have worn it on a hot day so it smells sweaty. sweat smell is caused by bacteria. heating the shirt to 60deg destroys the bacteria - your shirt now does not smell, and already looked clean.

or you have musty smelling clothes from the cupboard. Bam -5 minutes in the air cleaner and they are all good.

      but yeah

  • Thanks for the info. I thought the air dry function is different to the dry options. See page 37. which has 5 dry levels.

Would the Samsung machine be similar (in terms of dryer function) this LG? I assume the LG doesn't have a "moist air" outlet that I know of.

    • yeah, LG is the same as the samsung in terms of the "dryer function" not having a "moist air" outlet. the LG has a condenser dryer function - here is an explanation of how it works

the samsung seems to be just a washer (and "air washer") with no dryer function.

      • Thanks for all your help altomic. I ended up buying this unit as Samsung appear to have updated the product page with an image stating that it has a condenser dryer as well as the invoice description stating Washer / Dryer etc.

        Built-In Dryer
With this 13kg washer / 7kg Condenser dryer combo, you can conveniently wash and dry your clothes in one single machine, great for wet winter days or apartments without clotheslines.

  • Hi. I have had one of these machines for 3 weeks now and it is fantastic! It is a large 13Kg washer and a 7Kg condenser type dryer. Both functions work really well. The condenser dryer dumps the water down the waste pipe and clothes come out dry.
You can set a 'finish time' and we sometimes load it up at night and set end time to 7:30am so when we get up we just unload the washed and dried clothes and put them away.
One of the best features of this machine that is not well marketed is the automatic detergent dispenser. You fill with detergent +/- fabric softener (I don't use softener, but there is a tank for it) and the machine automatically adds the correct amount per wash! Lasts AGES between re-fills. You can dial in what strength the detergent is so it calibrates dispensing. You can de-select auto-detergent/softener and add manually to the tray if you needed to use a different detergent for something. This machine also pre-mixes the detergent with a small amount of water so it is introduced to the clothes already diluted. Very quiet too! We have really enjoyed this machine so far and got it delivered for $1800 so is a real bargain.

    • Hi Wattsie,

I've not ever been a fan of front loaders and especially washer/dryer combos but i LOVE the idea! Do your towels come out 'crunchy' if you wash and hang out to dry? I'm in QLD so rarely use the dryer but it is handy to have for when it's wet. So I'd be line drying most of the time but have had a front loader in the past which made the wash dry crunchy… Just wondering if you've experienced this? And where did you get it for $1800 delivered??? Bargain!!!

      Many thanks!

    • Hi WAttsie,
Does the quick wash function giving you 15mins wash cycle on small loads? Because my one even for just 1 shirt it washing for 56 mins on quick wash.
      Thanks

    • How do you set an end time?

  • Hi There, thinking of buying this combo washing machine. Just wanted to know if it's worth spending $1800

    • Yes I think it is a good washer/dryer combo and worth $1800 if the features meet your criteria.

Just bear in mind the following

      • The physical size is massive compared to an average 8.5Kg combo. weighs in at 100Kg and is about 50% bigger
      • A full (7Kg) wash/dry cycle takes about 8Hrs+
      • You can only use liquid detergent as powder is not recommended
  • Thanks Olokun:)
