        • How do you claim or does it come with it

        • @rack: claim via samsung website and upload photos of receipt and imei number

    • +3

Just an FYI, you can flip the Gear VR for about $75-$100 pretty easily if you know you don't need it. Just be sure to leave it sealed & unopened and it'll sell fast. Recently sold the two I got for $150 as I knew I wouldn't use them. I can now get a couple of 200Gb Sandisk MicroSDs instead or wait for the 256Gb Samsung Evos to come down to a nicer price.

      • How much is the 256GB right now?

        • I think it's a massive $250 and I think that's even in USD but it's only been out for 5 days so fingers crossed it drops over the next few months.

    • Update-Bing Lee are fast. Just picked up my new shiny phone

      • Nice!! Did you do it via cashrewards.com.au for 1.35% cashback too?

        • Yes i did, opefully it tracks

        • @lokesh7: hey does your invoice from Bing Lee state the IMEI number? Wondering if the IMEI gets checked at the airport when claiming TRS.

        • @khdsl: nope, no imei number. Also it mentions original price without taking into acount ebay voucher which means GST printed on the tax invoice is high. Mine says invoice total as $1249 with GST of 113.55, I wish i was going overseas in next 60 days

        • @lokesh7: thanks for the swift reply! If only i was going overseas too… :(

      • Hmm, i cant see the S7 in the Bing lee ebay store.. did they remove ?

edit: nvm, had to do a search. it wasnt part of the best seller section -)

  • Is this the best time to buy a tv in the next few months?
    Or is EOFY sales better?
    Looking for around 50"

    • +1

im holding out for the half yearlies lol

      • There's a full hd 50" TCL down to $440
        Might bite the bullet
Or jump to the 4k for $630
Mmmm any thoughts on whether it's worth it?
I have got an nvidia shield TV on the way from Amazon

        • 3 year warranty on the TCL.

At 440, I'd have picked it up….but now back to 697 less 20%,so not that good deal.

        • @albanyson: I haven't seen any prices go up, which one? Are you looking at the newer model? There's 2 50" TCL UHD, one from last year and the new one for $887 ($709 after 20% off, then $90 visa pre paid gift card by redemption through TCL, which makes them around the same price of $620)

Any thoughts on the TCL 50E5900US? Seems new, will be using to watch free TV and Kodi on nvidia shield TV

        • @TheButLover:
According to TCL wrbsite, this is the new model for 50”

          FHD TCL 50“

I had the 5600 model just refunded.
I'm not sold just yet on 4k UHD, especially just for FTA viewing.
          The 5900 is UHD http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-TCL-50E5900US-50-126cm-UHD-LED-…

        • @albanyson:

According to TCL wrbsite, this is the new model for 50”

that was originally $549 then briefly went down to $544 last night and now up to $691 during this eBay promo lol

        • @CVonC:
Yeah, stacking with the 20% eBay promo to 440, would have been a good deal
Not so sold on 691 less 20%(was 697 earlier)

This is the cheaper model than the 5600 50” I had recently.

The eBay prices seem to jump around all over the place. The fridge I'm looking at had dropped another 50, and the blender I bought earlier dropped a dollar but freight went up by 15.

    • Same boat, my 50" Samsung plasma 5yr old tv has pink lines now :(

  • Weber Silver Touch is gone! Those bastards!

    • Is this a decent time for Weber stuff? Or are there other Weber sales that happen periodically?

      • I was personally waiting for a 20-30% off sale for Masters as I was keen on getting the Silver Touch - but it looks like there's no longer a listing for it…Whether or not it's a decent time for other Weber stuff, I'm not really sure as I don't really see all that much - with the exception of the 20-30% off sales that happens during the year from eBay.

        • Cheers mate. I dont think I've really ever seen the Webers willingly go on sale, so thought about at least getting some accessories at a discount if I can!

        • Ray Outdoor have them. Maybe try your luck to price beat at Master?

    • Never mind I found it. For those interested: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221791794010

  • Can anyone please suggest a good modem for me?

Is this one a good buy: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-D-Link-AC1750-Wireless-Dual-B… ?

    Thank you!

    • +3

That's a great modem but at a ripoff price. I bought it a couple of years ago and it hasn't skipped a beat.

The best place to buy it though is at Officeworks. Get them to price beat MSY's price and it should go down to $178.60.

      • +1

        That is a ridiculous price!

      • great call! and bought!

      • Thank you mate! Did exactly what you suggested and Officeworks did price match!

    • You'd be better off going with a netgear over a D-Link, they tend to last longer, and generally run better.

Depends what you want to spend. I've got the D6200, which is good, but the signal isn't the best in my brick apartment. I'm looking at upgrading to the Nighthawk which has excellent reviews.

Netgear or Asus. d7000 or the rt-ac68u, both are great for the price

        • I'm running the rt-ac66u and absolutely love it.

      • Problem is GG are rip offs. $399 before discount. Wireless1 has them for $288 delivered for AU stock and also bonus 64GB Sandisk Ultra MicroSD card.

even with the 20% off, the Wireless1 or Futu Deals on ebay are much better

        • Ah yes, I meant for the price else were. I picked up my r7000 for like $200 lol.

$347.00 for the d700 is a crap price

    • $1249 for a Fisher & Paykel washing machine.
That same machine is $999 at JB HI-FI.
      Bastards…

Buy it at JB HiFi, retailers all have different prices or would you prefer that the government set the price of every item to save you having to look around?

      • +7

No, of course not. I want them to be fair with their pricing. IS that so hard to understand?

        • which model is this?

        • @padman:

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Fisher-Paykel-WH8560F1-FabricSmar…

It looks like the JB Hifi one is already on sale.

        • No, of course not. I want them to be fair with their pricing. IS that so hard to understand?

What is fair with their pricing? I don't understand what you mean. This is a business who exists to make money not to give you a bargain, if people are buying them at a price why would they lower it? It's also common for retailers to raise prices if they are running out of stock on eBay to stop people from purchasing until they get new stock.

You have a choice to buy from wherever you like at whatever price they will sell it at so I don't believe in this nonsense of they have to sell at a price that is fair to YOU.

It's also common for some retailers to be given special deals by manufacturers which can also explain large price differences.

If you bothered to check this model is $1299 at appliances online, $1249 at BingLee, $1249 at David Jones and so forth. Clearly JB HiFi have a deal with the manufacturer but rather then taking advantage of that special deal you would rather whine about it.

    • Unless they've improved markedly I wouldn't touch F&P whitegoods with a bargepole.

    • Just buy from JB and use those Coke rewards gift cards. Winner!

Ooh good timing. Need a dryer. Winter is coming

  • Been o nthe lookout for a side-by-side fridge/freezer. Any recommendations?

    • Been needing a new fridge for ages. Seen the eBay 20% of sales come and go, but it's time to bite the bullet and just get one. Size isn't a huge concern, and all of those listed below would suit.

So, which one of these would be the best value (or any other better deal you might know of)?

      1. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-LG-GS-B679PL-679L-Side-By-Sid…

      • The Westinghouse 690 litre is the cheapest I've seen it at $2k and I see there is also a cash back deal as well. As I understand it, this is an Australian made fridge and much better quality than a Samsung. I'm after one but I live in Qld, so sadly, I can't take advantage of this great deal.

      • choice magazine just reviewed fridges none of the side by side ones were recommended but of the 5 you listed above the westinghouse wse6100wf scored 69%,westinghouse wse7000wf scored 63% &fisher& paykel 49% other 2 were not mentioned the top scorer at 72% was a daewoo frs-u201cw , hope this helps .

        • Thanks - did they say why the side-by-side fridges didn't score well?

        • +1

@ryangus: No not really top scored fridge was a french door fridge with 80% once they get below a certain percentage in this case 75% they dont recommend them usually with fridges in the past its energy use & temperature fluctuations that bring the score down, the Westinghouse WSE6100WF good points were very good energy usage, little temperature fluctuations in fresh food compartment, very good range of temperatures available , excellent response to changes in room temperature the bad points were large temperature fluctuations in freezer compartment, no chiller & controls at rear are awkward to reach. The Westinghouse WSE7000WF good points very good energy usage ,very good range of temperatures available , very good responses to changes in room temperature& bad point was large temperature fluctuations in freezer compartment.

@Triple J: Thanks again. I'll try and source a copy of the report and have a read. It's interesting that the top fridge only scored 80%. Also, I think Choice can be a bit picky on fairly minor things.

        • @Triple J: any advice on what French door fridge to get?
Is the GG ebay price better than in store plua haggling…? :p

        • @ryangus: totally agree about choice being picky

        • @pitiek: Depends on how much you have to spend i suppose, the top scoring fridge and only french door fridge to be recommended is the fisher & paykel RF610ADUSX5 scored 80% rrp $3599 selling at the moment on GG ebay with 20% of for $2619 (if i did my math right )

        • @Triple J: Choice tests are regularly grain of salt stuff. Unfortunately there are not many alternatives wrt product reviews.

        • @Triple J:

totally agree about choice being picky

Picky is not the word that I would use. I'd say "biased".

        • Triple J - Would you be able to share with us the top rated bottom freezer fridge? I'm after a medium sized fridge, approx 430 litres to 450 litres. I wonder if the Electrolux EBE4300SDL rates well? Or the LG GB-450UPLX?

        • @delfredo: ok could not find any reviews on choice about the electrolux, the LG GB-450PLX was a choice recommendation with a score of 78% to be recommended they need a score of 75% overall & 60 % for all aspects of temp performance ,it scored 81%for brand reliability its good points were excellent energy efficiency, excellent response to change in room temperatures, very good uniform temperatures the bad points were no chiller & a rather picky one ,door alarm only for fresh food. The only other 2 medium size bottom freezers that i could see on the ebay sale that were both recommended also was the Fisher& Paykel E442BRE5 & Westinghouse WBE4500 I can give you the stats on both of those if you like. The F&P scored 76%& the Westinghouse 77%.

        • Thanks Triple J! Can you please share the stats for Westinghouse WBE4500? Top on my criteria list is quietness of the fridge. It is a must due to the open plan/space of my kitchen/living area.

        • @delfredo: The LG has a noise level 37 db ,the F&P 35 & Westinghouse 34db .The noisiest fridge tested was 41 db the quietest 30 db ,just so you can compare. The Westinghouse WBE4500 apparently have different letters on the end of each model as in WBE4500WA all that refers to is variations in colour & left or right handle door openings so all stats are for all WBE4500 models ,hope that makes sense .Westinghouse scored 77% overall, choice recommendation, 84% brand satisfaction, excellent response to seasonal change, excellent range of temperature s available, humidity control on crisper, no chiller& no freezer alarm, door can be a lttle warm & slightly limited number of actual settings. Hope that helps.

    • +1

A 9 iron is a good all rounder but didn't see any listed. :-)

Seriously tho irons are always on sale so shop around for the best price - eg Harris-scarfe. The only function I'd say is a must is auto off. Look for 2yr warranty

    • Harris Scarfe is great for irons. I got one of the steam stations some time ago and it's fantastic. I've got three kids, so heaps of ironing and it's much quicker than a standard iron. They are often heavily reduced.

    • +3

choice magazine latest iron reviews dated 10/04/16 of the ones listed the braunTexStyle7TS765 ATP was the top recommended iron with a score of 92% of the ones listed on the website that are choice recommended here are there scores Sunbeam Verve62 PlatinumSR6250 89% ,Kambrook Fabric Guard One Temperature Iron KIR931GLD 88% ,Russel Hobbs Steam Glide RHC909 86% ,PhillipsEasy Speed Plus GC2048/30 85% ,Sunbeam Verve Max Glide Iron SR6851 83%,Russell Hobbs Colour Control 19840AU 82% &Russell Hobbs SmoothIQ Pro RHC650 80% ,thought this might be some help in your choice.

Cheers TripleJ. Had a look into both of the top two and was tempted to just go for the cheap & cheerful Verve62 however it has lots of poor reviews elsewhere, mainly regarding leaks.
