  • I suspect ebay dont care if retailers jack up prices. They are still making their cut. All they are doing is redistributing money from individuals and retailers who dont get in on their sales to those that do. I feel like negging the deal. Maybe I just got sour grapes because there is nothing I want that I can get in 4 days before I go overseas for 6 weeks

    • If there's a Good Guys near you they usually don't jackup their prices, do click and collect and you'll have your item tomorrow :D

  • Any deal on prams/strollers? Specifically looking for two in one types with a bassinet for newborns and seat for toddlers.

I just intended to show you what I bought this morning at Toy R Us but they jacked up the price unfortunately.

  • +2

It is really important for all ozbargainers to know, that Ebay is not stumping up the full discount of 20%. In most circumstances they have negotiated deals with the retailer. That is why the retailer normalizes the prices before hand, to actually make money. For example an item worth $100, you pay $80, the retailer only receives $90 at most from ebay (not including normal fees), instead of the theoretical $100.

    • Then it's not really a 20% off sale, and should not be advertised as such.

      • +1

It is for you, but not for Ebay or the retailer

        • +4

I fail to see how I am getting a genuine 20% off if prices are inflated (normalised) prior to the sale.

  • Hey folks. Does anyone know if Kogan provides an Australia tax invoice with their macbooks?
I have purchased a few in my time through kogan's ebay store but never really noticed if they sent an invoice or not.
This time around I'm going overseas next month and I'd be interested in claiming TRS refund.
I contacted the Kogan store through ebay asking yesterday morning but they haven't responded as yet.
Usually they list items as 'Hong Kong', but this one seems to be listed as deliver from Melbourne http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161777208427?_trksid=p2060353.m14…
(which is also out of stock as of today - just noticed)

they do not have one and you cannot apply for TRS

they do not have one and you cannot apply for TRS

It's sold by Kogan Australia Pty Ltd, shipped from Australia and they must give you a tax invoice. If it was sold by Kogan International it is a different story.

wireless1 changed the price 8 times since the last purchase in Nov 2015. How do you know the price was 20% cheaper on Tuesday? Nobody has bought one in the past 7 months so there's no price history. Maybe no one bought one because it was full price?

Same with futu_online. The last purchase was on the 3rd of Nov 2015. They changed the price 3 times since then. How do you know it was 20% cheaper on Tuesday?

Someone really should create a camel3 for ebay. Or ebay should just display the price history in the item revision page.

      • +1

How do you know the price was 20% cheaper on Tuesday?

I don't with 100% certainly. But it's the most logical reason for them to change their listings. there are a few other posters here that say the same thing.

What about the other logical reasons such as stock levels, corrections to other parts of the listing or updated shipping info?

there are a few other posters here that say the same thing.

And most of them are making up rubbish with no evidence to support their claim just like this one.

        • @Maverick-au:

What about the other logical reasons such as stock levels, corrections to other parts of the listing or updated shipping info?

Yes, they could use that as an excuse. However, eBay timestamps every bin price change. Their last changes they made to the listings was on

01-Jun-16 15:02:27 AEST Buy It Now Price Postage Terms

          .

And most of them are making up rubbish with no evidence to support their claim just like this one.

I don't have time to look up those listings, but it wouldn't surprise me if the timestamps shows a similar pattern to the bin price.

Anyway wireless 1 and futu online can now join kogan in price bumping for ebay sales

          @whooah1979:

Given they haven't made any sales since last year why would they increase the price by over 20%? They've made other changes to the price this year as well.

Anyway wireless 1 and futu online can now join kogan in price bumping for ebay sales

Every claim I've seen for Kogan has been proven to be utter rubbish and there is no proof it's happened here.

        • I don't with 100% certainly. But it's the most logical reason for them to change their listings. there are a few other posters here that say the same thing.

They could all have been in the same boat, i.e. not actually sure, but stating as fact. You clearly said they bumped the prices up by 20%, but have no evidence of it - you just think they bumped it up by 20%, based on the selling price last year. Unfortunately most people will take that as fact.

The wireless1 cached link show that it was $59 on the 23rd of April. There were 3 price changes after that. I wonder if we can petition ebay into listing the price changes. Probably not, since it isn't in the seller's best interests!

There have been so many instances where people here boldly state that a company is doing illegal activity, report them to the ACCC etc. But when you actually look into the situation, there's nothing illegal going on. Of course there will clearly be times where companies do rip people off during sales, but false or misleading statements like that don't help the situation. In fact it could be defamatory.

I'm all for people calling out stores that raise prices unnecessarily before a sale (e.g. not because a catalog special just ended), but only if it's 100% true.

  • Any deals on portable hard drives 3tb or 4tb

  • Noo I keep getting an error after going through the whole checkout process several times.

These items are not available. They may have been purchased already, or the listings have expired… Error code: 70084 70203

Anyone else experienced this? So annoying I want to buy these items but it won't let me. I've tried all different items. I've tried different payment methods. I've tried but keep getting this error. :(

I haven't even been able to use the code on even one transaction.

    • Maybe contact eBay customer support.

I recommend using their live chat, it is online until 11pm.

      Hope this helps :)

      • +1

Thanks. Been doing that for last 2 hours. They seem pretty clueless and kept referring me from one area to another. They said it's a discrepancy with the store's stock so I need to contact the store, but I think they just wanted to get rid of me. Anyway I have contacted the store now.

        • Good idea. I had a similar problem recently where I couldn't order as I had already ordered the maximum quantity from the store. It was a bit strange so I contacted the store directly and they resolved it. Was just over some glass screen protectors too haha

        • Did you get this resovved? I have exactly the same error, and the online chat was a waste of time.

        • @StopGap: I had the error with supercheap auto. You need to message the store directly as apparently it's an issue with the system stock levels for click and collect purchases. supercheap auto told me that if Click and Collect isn't available then I can go ahead and place a delivery order and they will refund the postage costs. I'm getting three items delivered free and one item they've arranged for C&C at the local store.

  • Damn….been waiting for a discounted Chromecast 2.0….great to see that Kogan bumped the price to make it a ridiculous $78!!!!

  • Why is there a Wemo Switch selling for $309?

    • Yeah, but don't forget the whopping $62 discount - bargain!

    • Why is there a Wemo Switch(ebay.com.au) selling for $309?

Probably because someone made a mistake or they are out of stock and a common method for dealing with this on eBay is to jack the price up substantially.

This site should be renamed OZnitpick.com.
