  • Report eBay to ACCCC! for allowing retailers to increase prices on sales.

    • +1

Who can I report the ACCC to for doing nothing?

      • Your local paliment member

  • These sales are madness. eBay is paying for the discount, the retailers bump up the price and then absorb the extra margin. But eBay gets their revenue from charging ALL retailers hefty fees. So essentially those not included in the eBay sales (many smaller retailers) are effectively subsidising these big guys every time eBay decides they want to push through some volume?

Show your love for Brisbane with the quality Men's Goat Crew Brisbane Snapback for only $4.76 delivered from CK With the Gold Coast cap being double the price at $8.76 the decision is made a lot easier.

  • I decided to get the new Intel Skull Canyon Gaming NUC Kit NUC6I7KYK Mini PC Barebone Core i7 IRIS Pro@Futu NUC6I7KYK which was going for the inflated price of AU$1,049.00 and after 20% eBay discount was AU$839.

It's not everyones cup of tea at that price point but I just left my job to go Contracting and so I will try to claim this as part of my FY15/16 PC setup costs.

I already have a 240gb M.2 SSD from a previous sale and so I just need to find a good set of DDR4 SODIMM 2x8gb 2400MHz Ram to put in it. Anyone see any on the eBay sale? Otherwise I'll have to hit the usual CPL/MSY/PC DIY places this weekend.

3 units left. I got it when it said 4 so I assume it is accurate.

Good guys just hopped on board.

    • yeah I assumed they were going to come aboard as the store rep told me they were part of the deal. However I was instructed to take them off the post.

  • I'm looking for a 50' tv for around $1000 or less.
Are there any good deals as I'm not sure what is good?

  • Kogan have pulled their usual illegal false advertising move of raising prices by 20% immediately before this sale.

I encourage others to submit complains to the ACCC.

    • +2

When submitting complaints, do make sure you're 100% certain the prices were raised by 20% immediately before the sale.
Otherwise you'll just waste the ACCC's time investigating bogus reports.

      • Luckily it's pretty easy to see the purchase history of an item. Click the red "10 sold" (or whatever number) next to "10 available" on the item's page to the right of the photo.

        For example:

        http://offer.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidsLogin&item…

        • +3

That link only shows the purchase history. Have a closer look - before the sale, the last watch was purchased on the 26th of March.

Not a single watch was sold between the 26th of March and the 2nd of June.

If you look at the Revision History, you can see that the quantity was changed on the 27th of March - probably changing the stock to zero since the 20% off sale at that time likely wiped out their stock.

You can also see that the price was changed twice since then - once on the 6th of April when it was changed from $461.99 to $491.99 still with zero stock, and finally on the 20th of May at the current $561.99 price, when the quantity was also updated.

So Kogan did not raise prices immediately before the sale. They didn't even have the watch available for sale since March.

This is why I think it's important to be 100% sure before lodging reports. We all need to keep retailers accountable, but we need to be responsible ourselves too.

        • @eug: Well there are other examples. Maybe that was a bad one. Consider that the price is higher than Apple themselves charge. Why would it even be for sale at a higher price than Apple's official price?

        • @MrMcHairyHead: If the other examples are 100% legit, they should definitely be reported. With their pricing, who knows. Maybe they're playing a game with the ACCC, or just have bad prices for some things. I have seen bad pricing from them in the past.

  • I think a good deal on the DJI Phantom 3 drone, comes to $687.20, doubt you could get it cheaper anywhere else

  • Just got the Samsung galaxy tab S2 9.7 for 480. A bit more than the Bing Lee offer the other day I missed out on, but happy with that.

  • Has anyone found a good deal on the Kindle?

  • Tried various Items at Supercheap auto.
At the end of the check out it just says

These items are not available. They may have been purchased already, or the listings have expired.

  • Looks like this is.back..,,

    eBay Bing Lee: Miele - Complete C3 Family All-Rounder: $319.20 C&C

    eBay The Good Guys: Miele - Complete C3 Allergy : $319.20 C&C

  • This couldn't of come at a better time! Just moved into a new place :)

  • Some reasonably cheap tools available at Supercheap auto. The Rockwell metal cut off saw and the mitre slide saw are pretty cheap. Obviously only DIY grade equipment but good value at $136.

  • Of course I just made a purchase from The Good Guys last week at full price, still haven't even received it yet…

Anyone had any experience with their price promise thing getting the difference refunded from their own online store?

  • anybody know whether ebay will have a site-wide 20% off deal anytime soon? I want to buy barebones of a high spec PC like this or this and the option on offer from the stores that participate in this deal comes more expensive than this :(

    • +1

See how much it would cost to get it built at MSY or similar. I bet you'll be able to choose better parts and get it cheaper as well.

      • that may be true, I don't mind assembling it myself and have plenty of experience so that's that. This is the barebones build I'm currently looking at. It comes to around 1200 with a mix and match of ebay discounts and other lowest prices from parts picker but looks a bit steep to me ;)

        • +1

That makes sense. Usually certain vendors also have their own deals like CPL during the site-wide 20% sales. All the best.

        • +1

@fryandlaurie: yeah, I'm still unsure of the price for this build though, I mean, it's simply barebones and without a graphics card and it costs around 1300 (I forgot to include the cost for ram sticks before). hmmm

  • So what does the "$1000 max" refer to?
The total transaction price? Or the amount discounted?

    • Total discount per transaction. So if I purchased a $5000 TV, I would get 20% off and would only pay $4000. However if I brought a $7000 TV, I wouldn't get 20% as the discount is capped at $1000 so would pay $6000. Hope this helps :)

      • I see.
I just tried to purchase $1200 worth of items. But the system randomly decided to remove one item so the total is $1050.

        • Could it be that ebay only lets you check you X amount of items at any one time?

  • I just seen items i want to buy but i have purchased three times so can no longer get 20% off, anyone know how to get around this

    • Use someone else's account?

  • Not too impressed with Futu. The packaging for a DDR3 memory stick "NEW" I received had already been opened up.

  • I'm really mad at TGG ebay. I bought a Westinghouse 90cm oven for $1817 before discount. The next day, the price dropped $57 to $1760. They won't refund the difference. I emailed them and they said they don't associate with TGG ebay and that it is an online marketplace. They dropped the price at their discretion to be competitive and won't be refunding me. Bastards.

    • Well you did happily pay the original price. They're under no obligation to refund the difference. It'd be nice if they did, but I wouldn't call them bastards since they didn't force you to pay the original price.

    • Sorry but it is under their FAQ.

Did you use CC with price protection?

      • PayPal is linked to my cc. Can't be bothered returning the oven to buy it again. Oh well…

Anyone know if any of the 17"+ laptops are a good deal?

  • My new Sony 65" 4K arrived yesterday.

Havent had a good play with it yet buy so far better than my older model Sony TV.

    • Have one also. Make sure you watch some 4K content on Netflix, or youtube. Absolutely stunning.

      • Really whats 4K on netflix?

        • All I can really remember is House of Cards. They have a 4K content category.

        • @bharrop:

awesome will have a sus i see there are some 4k blurays out too

  • Kinda sucks..

Wireless1 has jacked the price up on the diskstation ds416 to $700 (exactly 20%). Usual price is $584 which can be confirmed on their website.

  • Cool beans! Picked up a few parts for a new PC build. Doesn't seem to be any stellar deals on RAM on there, will have to keep a cheeky eye on Amazon

  • Just a quick question, is the LG G4 LTE and Sony Z5 Compact both 700 bands the correct bands for Aus/Optus?, as I recall there's 2 different 700 bands (B7 or B24 or something like that).
    Seems there's 2 versions E5803& E5823.

It looks like it does, just want to confirm, as I dont have a lot of time to research it, read some reviews on Sony Z5C, seems ok.
Will be using Optus, but may move to Aldi or back to amaysim, regardless I will stick with Optus.
I'm not a big phone user (calls/data) interested in social crap.

Also any feedback on both from your experience?
I'm trying to decide which to get, yes I now both are different phones, I really like the size of Z5C/semi waterproof.

Is dealing with Kogan on eBay painful for repairs?
