I manually registered my NAB AMEX so I'm quite sure your Westpac AMEX will work just fine, anyway just try to register it using the direct enrolment link above, you will receive an email confirmation when registered

    • I like this one

Most of my local BP's still have an AMEX surcharge… :(

    • Really, i think most of petrol stations don't impose surcharges.

      • +2

        Caltex does

    • I'd query that with Amex, on other offers, such as Shop Small, many have compli8aned about a surcharge & were refunded the amount.

      • +1

You are right! I am also a merchat accepting Amex card and in the contract they mention that I agreed not to impose a surcharge to the customers. In return, they offered me a more preferable rate.

  • As per T&C the current locations are:

    • When I logged in, it showed those locations, but it also showed this statement:

"Location unspecified, showing nearest results for zip/postcode 2000. Learn more about location services."

So I'm assuming it'll be available at most, if not all, BP's?

      • Some BP locations do not accept AMEX - only way to know for sure is to ask them before you refill…

    • Nah, that's just your closest locations. I'm in Canberra, it showed me all Canberra locations.

  • +9

    Oh oh

Just saw local BP does Opal top ups

    Let the games begin

    • 9 cards x 3 times offer = $1080 value for $810. 25% off opal! Spread across 5 cards!

    • +6

Let us know if it works so we can all be like your avatar

    • Thanks for the info!

    • +4

Just topped up $40 on Opal and got the email. The only thing is you can't get velocity points with Opal or mobile recharge.

  • +1

Does BP sell gift cards? Coles, woolies etc?

  • What gift cards do BP sell? Just BP gift cards I assume?

    • No I saw iTunes and some others. Can't remember what

    • +1

Not sure if all locations sell the same but there were iTunes, Stan, JB Hi-Fi and a Visa Debit card for $5.60. This was BP Carlton (VIC).

    • Seen Myer and David Jones as well

  • Does BP sell SHELL gift cards 😂😂

    • +3

      Doesnt go well.

  • Is anyone aware of a calculator of some sort to estimate most affordable fuel choice? I just filled up at our bp.

They don't sell regular unleaded but
    E10 116.9
    95ulp 129.9
    98ulp 137.9

I cannot possibly see that 98 is worth it, at that much premium.

And is the 95 really going to give me a 10% fuel efficiency benefit? The energy content of ethanol is less, but not by that much.

    • +1

You should calculate your mileage. I've noticed that even though 98 is more expensive I get about 20% better fuel efficiency than E10 and it costs about 18% more, overall net positive gain.

It's not about the energy content from the ethanol, it's about the extra additives and mixers that petrol companies put into their fuel which allows the fuel to combust more efficiently/better for your engine.

I've started driving 98 for about a year now, not only do I feel more power from the car but also no major change in fuel costs on average.

    • Depends entirely on your car, and your driving style. I drive mostly open road. On 98 I avg 8.7l/ 100, 95 8.8l/100, regular same, e10 8.9. To be fair you need to test the same stretch of road, at the same temp, same speed and same wind.

  • Where do you look on your account page to see if anything has been applied?

    • Saved offers

      • Ok, sorry, where is that on the account page? Can't find it anywhere :|

        • Near the middle bottom? Above your transactions.

  • excellent. thanks

  • +1

    Hmmm
Filled up this morning. In the past I've received an email straight away for a qualifying spend but nothing has come through yet.

    • I just filled this morning but no email.

    • +1

I filled up this morning and received instant email confirmation, having said that from past experience sometimes you don't receive an email confirmation but you still get the credit eventually. If you don't just call AMEX when you receive your statement and they will apply the credit manually.

    • I just checked the statement and found the credit. Takes a few days.

  • Just in time for a couple of road trips I'm doing. Perfect!

  • Anyone know if we can use this offer three times at the same service station?

    • +4

It did not say that you cant. Therefore you can.

  • Damn! I just filled up yesterday! I just saved the offer to my card, and the BP transaction is still pending. Do you think I'll get the cash back? Hoping so!

    • Probably no chance if they can prove the transaction occurred before you saved the offer.

  • +1

Giftcard is available in $100, $50 and $25

    • No $40 ?

      Booooooo

      My Tank is only 12L

      • Do you have a jerrycan?

        • Oh yea good idea, need to wait for SCA to have sale to get one!

        • +1

          @Turd:

SCA ebay store is having a 20% off sale :)

        • @FW190: Thanks!

      • Are you driving a scooter?

        • +1

          No, a

          Tank

        • Motorbike. VTR250 ftw!

290 on 10L, then hit reserves

    • I would just get $100+$25 gift cards and split the purchase 3 times with the American Express card.

      • Why not $100x2 and split with 5 payments ?

        • You are assuming everyone has two cards. I have more myself, but giving the example if you only had one Amex.

    • Only in these denominations? Nothing higher than $100 value?

      • Not that I can see in my local BP. Which denomination that you would like to have and expected the staff will be happily process the payment in multiple of $40 ?

  • +3

Phone credit might be a decent purchase idea instead of/as well as gift cards.

    • and opal top up

  • +2

can we go to the same BP 3x times and get credit each time?

I hope this works for opal credit, every time so many places say we take Amex, but not for Opal…

    • +1

I top up $40 on 2 opal cards at BP this afternoon and got email from AMEX straightaway. No surcharge when paying by AMEX.

      • Do you mind sharing the location as well ?

Also did you try doing all 3 transactions from same place ?

        • I went to BP Connect at WOODCROFT NSW 2767. Corner of Woodcroft drive and Richmond Road. I didn't do all three transactions on 1 card, I only used once on 2 AMEX cards. Will do the rest later.

  • Thanks OP, registered 5 cards. Hello $150 credit.

    • -1

      You mean $50 credit ?

      • +2

        each card $30 x 5 cards = $150 credit

        • Technically it is $10 per transaction x 3 transactions per card x 5 cards

  • Anyone having trouble accessing the site?

    • +1

Yes, the site is probably getting hammered. I should have registered this morning when I first saw this. Stupid work got in the way

      Edit: direct enroll still works

      • Cheers, was able to direct enrol too.

  • went to the local BP & asked about giftcards - "yeah be have them, but I have no idea how to sell them to you, sorry"

    • that's bad training

  • +1

why is this deal so popular? Does everyone have a AMEX credit card?

    • +1

Pretty much, you get free points by signing up to cards and then use the amex offers, then cancel the card before you get hit with the annual fee

      • +1

ah ha, so thats how ozbargainer's do it!

        • Professional ozbargainers

      • For some sign on deals you have to pay the fee though. I got the amex velocity with 100,000 velocity points and the fee was charged straight away. Got the free flight too, so very vell ahead…

    • +1

You have been a Ozbargain member since Mid 2014 and you just figured this out? Where you in a coma for 2 years?

      • +2

        I don't have a credit card, that's why

  • good offer

  • I live in Adelaide and went to one of the BPs here today and found out that they don't sell BP gift cards… I called a few BPs and they all said that they don't sell BP gift cards…

Just wondering anyone in Adelaide has any luck buying a gift card? Just wondering if they sell any other branded gift cards in BPs?

    • +1

      http://apps.nowwhere.com.au/bp/onlinedirectory?state=SA
any BP shop sell giftcard will be marked under facility.

      • I called some of the stores which has gift card marked under facility but they told me that they don’t sell gift cards.
Just wondering if anyone has any luck buying BP gift cards (in Adelaide or other places)?

        • +1

OTR locations which don't seem to sell gift cards, you need to go to traditional BP owned locations (not many left).

BP Colonial Hectorville SA 5073 sell gift cards ($25 or $50).

        • @hamza23: Thanks! Have you bought any? will they allow using multiple card for one purchase?

        • +1

          @birdnw:

          No probs.

I haven't bought any yet, just spoke to them on the phone, give them a call to ask but I'd say it'd be fine. They were quite helpful and I got the feeling they had receive a few gift card enquiries. I'll go towards the end of the month when I can fit in some petrol as well. They do prepaid phone recharge as well.

I spoke to quite a few OTR's as well and got some phone credit from one tonight, none of them had gift cards or did metro card top up so just got 2 x mobile phone recharge for $40 to use one up.

        • @birdnw:

Just to add that whilst you can't buy gift cards at OTR locations, you can use them there (did so successfully on the weekend).

  • I top up $40 twice on my opal card, all received comfirm email immediately.

But on the email, it says " Thank you for using Amex Offers with your Card ending xxxx at BP. If your purchase meets the offer terms, you will receive a $10 credit. Credits usually take 5 days to appear on your account upon completion of your qualifying transaction, but may take up to 90 days after the offer has ended. "

I am not sure whether opal card top up meets meets the offer terms, is it a kind of voucher or store credit? I will post the result when it appear on my statement. Normally, it took 3 business days on my ANZ credit card! I hope I didnot waste my chances to get the $20 credit.

Normally, the email should say congratulation, but this time no, so amazing!

    • No that's what they Usually say. They don't know what you purchased anyway.

    • they used to say "congratulations" but recently they changed it to the email you just received.

  • As you can earn Velocity points by swiping your Velocity membership card at BP, what happens if you also pay with a Velocity Amex card (e.g. Platinum or Escape)? Do you get double the points?

  • +7

Filled up at my local BP this morning, I was the only one there. All of the pumps read $40. Seems like this is a popular deal.

    • ozbargainers?

  • Filled up and got the confirmation straightway ..

    • +4

Without paying? WOW talk about efficient!

  • Redeem offer up to 3 times at only American Express accepting BP locations.

Sounds risky. I won't know whether the BP will accept Amex or not, so I could be SOL.

    • Why not ask before filling up?

      • Don't want to queue up just to ask. The car behind me will get pissed off.

        • +1

I just parked in another area (not at fuel pump) to ask first.
