Brand name is the most important thing. So if yours are just generic, sorry but not interested.

    • Understood and thank you for your input. Our memory chips come from same suppliers in Taiwan top brand names and we have taken our time choosing our manufacturer to ensure they meet the worker and product quality standards so we are confident on the product quality. That said I respect your point, we are building our own brand in the tech space and in time we hope consumers will come to align our brand with reliability and value.

      • "Taiwan top brand names" - Get exact specifications and not vague, inflated statements as they may end up burning you. The Chinese will substitute the NAND module to increase their margin if they think they can get away with it. This is by no means a bigoted statement … it's just business and it's just how it goes down.

        • Yes the statement is fact not inflated. We have been working closely with them for 6 years producing promotional flash USB orders and the team at My Discount Store have been sourcing from China for over 10 years so no it isn't a bigoted statement and completely agree with you regarding being cautious, there are an untold amount of ways you can get stitched up offshore sourcing and we have. Which is why we try to visit our suppliers every 3 months, we have teams on the ground permanently and we run rigorous sampling and testing to make sure the products are up to scratch and meet consumer standards.

        • @pmason78: All good. Would just be a shame to have the wool pulled over your eyes but sounds as though you're all over it. Good luck! It's a competitive market.

These things have become so generic now, the only spec anyone is interested in is speed.

    • Thank you for the feedback.

  • I need: small, fast, hardwearing. I don't use these types often (tend to use sd cards more)

    • USB 3.
      128gb Capacity?

Why do you prefer SD cards? Speed?

      • Speed sometimes, yes, but mostly my devices have easier to use sd card slots (micro or full size). Or no usb port!

Not sure I need 128GB, just enough to fit an OS update/image on, so 64GB is fine. That's what I mostly use 'traditional' USB drives for, those times when USB3 is faster than the network (or internet… sigh).

        • Ha feel your pain regarding the internet - i've resorted to ethernet cables at home because my wifi with IINet is so bad. Thanks for the feedback.

        • 128GB Memory stick is overkill. And with MicroUSB and default USB card reader that take MicroSD card, the world has become a much harder place to sell.
My preference is MicroUSB 3.0 and USB 3.0 card reader with High Transfer rate, up to the max available ( 90MB/S ? )
And very fast around 64GB Micros SD card.

Or Full USB3.0 sd card reader that loops the post through, so no port loss. ( Combined Card Reader and 1 port USB hub 3.0 )

        • @pmason78:
If wifi is bad and Ethernet not, then it's your AccessPoint who is failing you.

        • @cameldownunder: thanks for the tips

        • @cameldownunder: Are you referring to something like this with USB 3 transfer rates combined with a high speed SD card?

          Cheers

        • @pmason78:
          Exactly!

  • more and more things are beginning to use type c. Although not huge atm.

So probs start looking whether you want a head start or whether the 'risk' of a currently not so big consumer base is worth it.

Try asking on whirlpool/reddit as well.

    • Thanks for the feedback I'll give those places a whirl. Yes we are looking at type C also.
