JB Hi-Fi in-Store Gaming Deals?

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to know if anyone has had any experiences with negotiating deals for games (e.g. console + games + accessories) within JB?

Im aware that they always do negotiating for tech and so forth - is the same applicable for games/software? If so, what are you experiences? (Good or bad deals)

If anyone with knowledge to this situation can help, that would be greatly appreciated!

  • From what I've tried with my friends who work there, They aren't allowed to do any deals other than the advertised prices on consoles. 2nd Hand games you can get cheaper but that's about it.

    • even that they might only give 10% on games missing covers/manuals

  • +1

Probably can only get them to price-match.

I remember at Post-Xmas sales, I asked them to price match Microsoft Store on an Xbox 1 controller (I had a JB gift card). At first they declined, I just said that's fine I'll go buy from Microsoft. Next minute "let me check with my Manager"… minutes later walking out with my new controller :)

As to negotiating on the prices, I can't imagine they'd do too much. But at the end of the day, it's worth trying (if you can find a sales guy in the games area that is!)

Actually I do remember a situation where, over the phone, a sales guy ordered a pre-owned game for me from another store, checked the price on the system and it was almost the price of the game if it was new. He discounted it for me over the phone :) (side note, made sure I thanked him when I was in the store, as 2 other stores refused to even get the game ordered in!)

  • You can get 10% off online games purchases if you page with a St. George debit card. this is ontop of the steam and riot games deals.

  • I went to JB to use some gift cards earlier in the year. Asked to price match with EB, but there was no stock except for 1 store in rural WA, but the girl offered about half the JB ticketed price to me.

Never hurts to ask, although I'd say my experience is an exception to the rule.

  • They can squeeze a little but don't expect too much.
If for some reason you really want to spend your money with JB you would probably be better waiting for good deals and price matching there when you can.
If your buying a console bundle they generally can't swap games around much and trade in values are always crap on games offered to be bundled to due to the quantity they have.
Your much much better off listing those on gumtree or ebay.
I ended up buying a ps4 bundle on boxing day hoping for a good deal and ended up selling the 3 games included to get like ~120 off the price for the console.
