Where to Get HTC One M8 Genuine Replacement Battery

I have a 2 year old HTC One M8, by far one of the best droids I have ever used. As is expected of a phone this old, battery life is no longer so great. I tried contacting HTC Australia with a view to getting the battery replaced. They referred me to Fonebiz. I contacted Fonebiz and the quote I got wasn't quite what I hoped - up to $200. I figured I'd be a nutjob to pay that much for a replacement battery when I could get a new droid for a little bit more or a Lumia for less.
I have combed through Amazon and eBay in search of genuine replacement batteries or at least non-generic ones. Some reviews of a particular product were good. Some others were not so good. I am at a loss as to what to go for. Even if I do get a battery off Amazon or eBay, I'll need someone to do the heavy-lifting. I understand taking the phone apart is a pain. Those days are behind me else I'd have tried to do it myself.

I am humbly asking the community for any help regarding this problem - where to get a genuine or high-quality replacement battery and a reputable phone technician.
Thank you in anticipation.

  • Don't know about an M8, but I changed the battery on an M7. You'd need to pay me more than $200 to go through that experience again.

    • Haha. Were did you get the battery from and how good was it after the surgery?

      • One battery was doa, the next lasted a month, and this one has lasted for about 4 so far. Got from ebay, but you can't hope for much.

        • Darn. Just what I am trying to avoid.

        • +1

Well there goes me attempting to change my M7s battery…

        • Especially since HTC close the phone with adhesive in addition to bloody tight clips. All those videos of people easily popping their back covers off, forget it - they're after-market and don't have the glue.

On the plus side, my phone has a new midframe and rear cover after I trashed the original ones with a hacksaw and dremel.
