Cheapest prepaid SIM for alarm system

As topic suggest, am looking for the cheapest prepaid sim for an alarm system.

My area is good for Optus and Telstra so I assume Voda is also fine.

The alarm (I think) uses full size SIM and I think it only sends out SMS a few times a month.

Given fellow OzBargainers are more up to date with the ever-changing prepaid plans out there, thought I get some help on recommending a cheap provider.

Thanks in advance for your kind help =)

Aldi 365 day plan with $15 credit

    • Is this the one you are referring to?

assume 4 sms per month for 12 months which arrives at $5.76 per annum!

      Looks good, thanks!

Now I need to confirm how many times that alarm will send out the sms!

The initial sim is $5, with $5 credit. Recharges after is $15.

    • Hi there, would you happen to know what the minimum recharge needs to be to get another 365 days after 365 days?

Thinking of getting a spare number to call other adults/emergency services for the kids, if something happens to the adult at home, since we do not have a landline.

  • Make sure the system uses only SMS and no data as that would change your options significantly.

    • That's actually a very good question. I wouldn't have a clue. It's a Bosch 6000 GSM module…

Oops I jumped the gun and went with the Aldi offer, fingers crossed it's indeed only sms

    im sure that uses sms.

No need to top up after 12 months with $15. Just get another sim from them for $5 unless your alarms send out lots of sms.

  • Ahhh thanks

Strangely the security installer recommended amaysim sim . Is there a plan there that's cheaper?

    • Amaysim pay as you go. And credit lasts 365 days.

      • Isn't Aldi the same?

        • Aldi - Telstra network
          Amaysim - Optus network

      • Amaysim site says 90days

  • I was wondering how you went with the Aldi Mobile SIM in your Bosch Solution 6000 alarm panel.
I have just purchased the same alarm system.
Can you please tell me how much mobile data the unit uses?

    • dont think it uses data. i get sms all the time but its just the routine system test and the ad-hoc forgetfulness of walking into an armed location.

  • Hi guys, im bringing up an old post rather than creating a new one, as the Aldi plan is no longer available/super seeded. I am with belong currently and thinking of just getting a $10 sim and taking the extra data for myself? Is there anything else i should know?
