@ Rep — you might want to note that both of these laptops are 17.3" with Full HD and GTX 980M.

  • New Pascal GPU out in around 2 weeks would consider this before buying.

  • Good price according to staticice & Gizmodo reviewed it with praise. However, it's last year's model, whether that's good or bad…

Does the G751JY-T7419T definitely come with G-Sync?

Also, are there any 15.6" models with dual-drive bays?

The G751JY is the machine I have at the moment - I am not sure if these final models have G-Sync, because there is a current shitfite on the ROG forums about the GSync upgrade available for the G751 without GSync, that were meant to come with GSync. ASUS.AU still haven't written back to me about it yet. I might have to go back and have a poke at ASUS.TW to find out what's going on.

If I had to do this all again, I would wait until the mobile 1080s are released.

The 752's have dual NVME, 751 have single. If you want to use the NVME on the 751, you'll have to fiddle because it sits over the top of the SATAIII.

The 752s have the NVME sitting on the opposite drive bay, http://rog.asus.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/G752-Back-M.2…

GSync will also only work on the native screen. So you can't output to another monitor and have it on that.

The 752s will run in RAID0, but only after you update the firmware. I'm not sure if this has changed, it's been a while since I've been on the ROG forums.

752 has 1x USB3.1-C, and 4x USB3.0-A, where as the 751 has a 1x TB1.0 and 4x USB3.0-A. It would have been nice for the engineers to convert the 752's slots to TB3.0-C (USB-C) connectors, because they are the same now, which would've meant that you could run Thunderbolt crap all over the place without piggybacking.

      752 is DDR4, 751 is DDR3.

The only thing that the 752 does better by a clear margin is the macro key… and if you're using the laptop as a desktop replacement… you don't really use the macro keys that often.
The 752's cluster is offset from the ESC key, so when you're panicking or drunk, you have the tendency to hit the Record key on the 751, because it sits directly above it. The steam key is removed, and they've added an extra macro button on the 752 to make it 5 Macro + 1 Record, and you can always bind one of the buttons to steam. I actually bound one to Mobility centre, and I'm sure there's be some other Windows 10 crap to find to bind it to, if I weren't sitting at my desk with a USB keyboard that has 9 Macro Keys with 3 profiles.

The current set up I have right now on my 751 would give the top 752s a run for their money.

The next model up from the 752 is the GX… which is sort of trolly because, at 8000, I could SLI a desktop and add watercooling to it. The unit comes with a suitcase, so you can tote it around.
It's also only the 980, not the 980M that's inside those, and with the 1080s out now, a desktop would still kick the shit out of the GX700.
      Just look at this ridiculousness…

I'm all for mobility, but if you're going to watercool a laptop, it's no longer a laptop, and the G751 was already pushing the threshold between my tolerance for $$$$$Laptop vs $$Desktop

EDIT: The 751s coming out still won't have complete support for the NVME from BIOS/UEFI. You need to screw around a bit to tell the laptop not to boot from the SATAIII and make the NVME slot DISK0. Otherwise, a clean install of an OS from a USB will install the OS on to the SATA drive.
You won't come across this problem until you wipe the 751s that have Windows 10 preinstalled.
I had 8.1 on mine, and I think I was one of the first people in ROG.AU to put W10 preview on to the NVME slot with the SATA Drives in, last year. Shit's not pretty.

  • You may get better deal if you sweat talk deal reps. I would still prefer alienware due to their high resale value and their best next day warranty.
