Any suggestions for a 2tb portable hard drive with this code?

    • -6

Sure - my suggestion is to learn how to use the EBAY SEARCH ENGINE.

Hint: The default Sort Order is "Best Match". That is NOT what you want, so go and see if you can find a better option in the drop box.

      • +2

Hey llama, was more of a ozb directed question of what brand/model of portable hard drive to get rather than a how to search by lowest price. I have purchased a Seagate hard drive anyhow so all good :)

        • You bought a Seagate! Oh no! You should have asked for advice first… :o

        • @mooboy: Reviews and price tell me it's decent so I'll see how I go.

      • I tried but it doesn't compare brands or offer personal advice? Pls help

        • +1

There's a website called 'Google' for that.

Pointless (and lazy) asking here. Don't you have a computer?

If so, go to EBAY and try searching there… you will be amazed what you will find.

damn, just bought a chromebook last night. :(

    • what did you get?

      • +4

        a chromebook

  • Buy gold.

    • +1

Good idea, is that an option? Suggestions?

Don't buy PC items when ebay regularly has 20% off codes for PC.

I was about to buy a knife but then I remembered Peters of Kensington is regularly included in 20% off sales too.

    • +5

The shops that get to sell under that code don't carry everything, and even if they have it are not necessarily 20% below the competition.

      • +4

Or they increase the price by 20% during eBay's 20% discount. Dodgy as :(

    • It does not matter, you should buy PC items now as the prices are the same https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/3909184/redir

      Test yourself to see.

  • Ah lovely, gonna buy a nice corner desk for my home office! This 10% discount is very handy!

Any graphics cards on good deal

  • -5

Op your post says "over $75" whereas it is $75 or more. Will affect items spot on $75

  • +1

Doesn't work for me on a GBP 46.99 item which ebay says is "Approximately AU $80.69" i.e. above the $75 minimum. Tried explaining that to the ebay live chat monkeys but there was a severe comprehension problem (and I mean severe!). Looks like it can't handle foreign currency conversions - I seem to recall someone having this problem on a previous promo. They are supposedly looking into it now.

    • Same here. Multiple items in cart, all in GBP, clearly over $75AUD excluding postage, but can't apply code. Fail.

    • It's sually only applicable to stuff listed on eBay.com.au, usually foreign currency means it was listed on an international site but is available to be sent to Au.

      • Thanks for your reply. All items listed on ebay.com.au.

I tried a single item from Japan in US currency and it works. Bizarre.

        • Same here. Multiple items in cart, all in GBP

Thanks for your reply. All items listed on ebay.com.au.

          DOH.

Items listed on ebay.com.au are priced in AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS

Items listed on eBay.co.uk are priced in GBP.

The fact that you see it on ebay./com.au doesn't mean that is where it is listed. You need to use desktop browser (not mobile app), then look for prices in italics in search results. Those are non-AU listings.

The other way is to filter your search results, and only show the aussie ones.

    • ebay customer support said "I have checked the terms and conditions of the promotional voucher code CTENOFF; and found that this code can be applied to the item of Australia location only."
However the T&Cs say no such thing. I thought I'd used similar promotions on overseas items in the past, and not necessarily listed on ebay.com.au. Not to worry.

      • +1

You're right, the T&Cs say nothing about AU location or AU currency only.

Non AU currency items listed on ebay.com.au definitely do work. I have now tried both GBP and USD items (separately) with success. If there is a red message saying minimum spend not reached then spend a bit more until it works.

        • Tried this by changing item quantity so that it was over 100USD - told me that code could not be applied lol

  • The Bose Soundlink Mini 2 comes down to $242.10 (free shipping) which isn't too bad

Anyone know a good lightroom 6 deal. Cheapest I can find is around 180 with the 10 percent

    • Nothing that I can find. Unless you go with CC subscription 20% off promo wroth KelbyOne

  • Is the discounted on the total spent, I.e including freight cost?

    • +3

      It doesn't include postage:

The offer entitles you to 10% off the purchase price (excluding postage costs) when you spend $75 or more in one transaction during the Offer Period.

      • Ahh good pickup - best use it for items with free delivery then

      • Thanks

  • Anyone found a good place to buy a samsung note 4 for a decent price? The wife smashed her note 2 and won't consider any other phone that isn't a note.

  • Looking for a good Soundbar deal for around $200-$300 if anyone has discovered any :D

  • Just an FYI. I added three items to my cart. Only one was over $75. It appears to have applied the 10% to all three items. Which is a nice bonus.

    • +2

It's always like that. You can add items of any value to your cart, as long as the total in your cart reaches the minimum spend. Which is why the cart is the way to go if you are buying multiple things, and want to avoid using up your discount code allowances (e.g. "maximum 2 transactions per user").

      • +5

Just be careful. If one item is a lemon, and you have no choice but to return it, you will forfeit the savings given by the voucher code.

For eg you buy 300 worth of multiple items, saving you 30 dollars, but if one item is faulty or does not arrive, (and the transaction is refunded) you will owe Paypal 10 percent on the remainder of the purchased goods.

        • Thanks, will have to keep that in mind.

  • I just bought note 5 and paid like 2 minute ago then open the phone and check ozbargain , Damnn 10% off ebay … I just lost $60 .. If there anyway I could claim it back ?

    OFficeworks eBay: $169
    Officeworks website: $147

I notice on the ebay listing down the bottom right they have their "lowest price guaranteee" stamp….. Can you price match OW ebay store against OW?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/322200764584

    • You wouldn't think so as they have to pay eBay fees.

      • -2

…and that is not a good reason to list higher prices on eBay store

        • What do you suggest they do instead?

What a stupid thing to say.

    • I don't think so, otherwise you'd price match on Ebay for deals, then get another 10% off. Usually they hate allowing people to use coupons on price match offers, hence the 'come instore and buy it asap' price match concept.

  • If anyone is wondering, if you have two items in cart with different currencies and the page says you have to complete the transactions separately then this will count as two uses against the code.

    • Yes, your cart has to contain everything in the same currency.

Trying to have multiple currencies in one transaction would be overly complicated.

      • But can different currencies make up the $75 minimum spend?

        • -1

But can different currencies make up the $75 minimum spend?

          NO - it's $75 minimum PER TRANSACTION.

Also, overseas currencies don't get the discount anyway.

        • +1

          @llama:

It worked for me. Invoiced shows AUD but the auction and transaction during checkout was in another currency.

        • @llama: "Also, overseas currencies don't get the discount anyway."
I assume you are correct, but I cannot see that in the T&Cs:-
          http://pages2.ebay.com.au/Buyer_coupons/tenoff?_trkparms=clk…

        • @bangmango: Well done. So I may have a chance then.

        • +1

          @PJC:

No, it isn't correct. Foreign currencies do get the discount - just the calculation is a bit iffy, so if the amount is close to threshold it may calculate as not meeting the threshold.

        • +1

          @odysseus:
I find it's a fair bit more than the $75AUD threshold, more like at least $90AUD before the code starts working for foreign currency items.

        • @odysseus: Thank you.

  • Any good deals on desktop monitors 22 inch and above?

    • Dream_seller sells the XStar / qnix 144hz monitors. They are basically rejected high end panels that are resold at a much lower price (aka Cheap Korean LCD) because they have manufacturing defects or have dead pixels.

I have the Xstar Dp2414 (perfect pixel option) and it's a great gaming Lcd.

      • Thanks, I'll hunt these down :)

Few years ago, it used to be the trend to have a NAS deals posted, whatever happen to those kind of postings, Aussie dollar being too high, Netflix, market saturation, or just went out of fashion ?

    • What are your needs?

Plex transcoding? How many bays?? Brand preference? Functions?

This is a pretty good all rounder

      http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/Synology-DS415-4-Bay-NAS-Diskless-A…

      • I have been after a 4 bay NAS …. Thanks for the link, the linked one seems like a very good one, but beyond what I need, all my needs would be for a networked disk storage, no plex, HDMI or any of those desirable features.

My comment is more about the change of attitude toward those NAS deal, I recall a couple of years they were the craze, there will be a Shopping Express deal for one every couple of weeks perhaps. It just promoted my thinking of what has happened to that obsession.

    • What's a NAS deal?

      • +2

Network Attached Storage. They're essentially computers designed entirely to hold a few hard drives - often in tiny cases not much bigger than the drive bay themself. They will generally handle data redundancy for you too so if a drive dies you don't lose your files.

The idea is that you store all your files on the NAS instead of your computer.

        • Ah, right. That makes perfect sense. Thank you.

  • +1

Argh.. Dammit there was no advance leak of it this time. Bought some stuff over the weekend. Just have to buy more now haha.

  • Does this work for items won at auction?

    • Yes - as long as you pay before the discount ends.

It's not when the auction ends, but when you pay that counts.

  • thanks…Grabbed a lens.

still waiting for 20% off at good guys and masters …. surely that's gotta be coming before the end of the year

  • Tempted … I know Sony Z5 Premium (black) $624 delivered is pretty good for grey import (assuming the code works).

    • Only snapdragon 810 though…

    • Actually make that $624 for Chrome/Gold as well, confirmed code works. (e6853 = works on all au networks)

If that makes a difference to you fair enough although I'd be surprised if you can name any app that runs noticeably better on faster CPUs ATM.

In my case I want that 4K screen to use as a virtual screen. No other device will give you 1920x1080 including 3D using a phone based HMD.

Any such thing and any such deal?

Well, you could always try searching Ebay. It's a good time to learn.

      • +3

Yeah, thanks for the sarcasm. Really not-pointless of you.

Was a simple request in case anyone reading could point me in the right direction. Out of hundreds of listings.

Check out the front page deal on the Lenovo from amazon

        • +1

@Rick Sanchez: thanks much! I was looking at the Amazon lemony 4-1 flip in the other ozbargain post just before, but have concerns about the warranty on that one. Local Lenovo sounds like a good idea

  • I tried my hardest but even with 10% off I couldn't find a deal.

What do people on here usually buy from ebay when a deal isn't on? Just to get an idea what kind of items are good value and the 10% might make even better.

    • -4

Just to get an idea what kind of items are good value and the 10% might make even better

There are like 10 million items listed on Ebay at any one time.

Surely you realise that you ask a question that is impossible to answer?

You are complaining that you can't find anything that you like. The items that you will find "good value" are those which YOU want to buy, not what we want to buy.

      • +1

Or, if you wanted to be helpful, since 10% is not an amazing discount on most things:

Usually mobiles and computer parts. It can be good to sometimes stack the 10% with current offers from dpt stores (eg Target, Good Guys, officeworks etc)

But if you're not after something in particular, I personally wouldn't bother too much.

        • +1

Regarding computer parts, I looked at graphics cards, monitors, and PSUs, none were a bargain

    • +1

… Have a look around your house, see what you're missing and would like, or need to upgrade.

I think you will like a new 5000L freezer.

  • Does this work if I say purchase 2 items from different sellers say $680 and $40 and pay for both at the same time? Will it give me a discount on the total bill or just the item greater than $75?

    • Yes, it will - but you need to "Add to cart" both of them first, and then pay for them together.
