Which Phone to Buy? Currently with iPhone 5S

Currently have an iPhone 5s that is due for an upgrade and am not sure whether to make the switch to Android or to stay in the apple ecosystem as i always have. I really want a bigger phone than a 5S. I'm just not sure whether android phones are future proof as i would want my next phone to last me 2 years and maybe longer. I have a list of the phones that I am considering but would take into consideration anything that anyone considers. Obviously there is a price difference in the phones but that isn't too much of an issue. Thanks for any help

Not really ever heard good things about windows phones

    • No shake n win app on Windows platform……..

Must be new…… I'm sure wasn't there before.
          Good one.

(Edit) I was looking at the windows store, search bar ….I think.

@albanyson: Yup. It's new, got it a few months ago with the new app. I find it actually works better than the Android version!

But yeah..aside from that, not much going on for Windows Phones. D:

New Nexus phone will be announced next month and should be available
around end of Sept or early Oct, I will wait for it.

In fact, if you want the best after sale service, you should buy it directly from Google. Currently all the nexus phones is out of stock atm.

    • Yeah i am most likely going to wait until then to make my decision anyway so I will give it a look

    Stuff them all.

Go b1g and get a Note 7. Best phone in the world by FAR. I went into the Samsung store in Korea and the phone is at the pinnacle of mobile phone innovation. I bought a S7 Edge and I plan to keep it for at least 4 years.

Every review I've read has called it overpriced compared to the competition and they cannot see the point of paying twice the amount of money for a largely similar device.

Innovation: it's the usual case of Samsung throwing shit at a wall to see if it will stick rather than thinking about design so it's got stupid things like iris recognition that nobody is going to use because you look like a pillock holding your phone 10cm from your eyes.

        What competition?

they cannot see the point of paying twice the amount of money for a largely similar device.

What are you talking about? There is no similar device except the s7 edge.

because you look like a pillock holding your phone 10cm from your eyes.

You should see how asians use their phones. They take audio recordings instead of calling each other.

Gee I dunno how about the One Plus 3 that has the same SoC and 6GB RAM for half the price. It's being outdone on specifications so paying the extraordinary prices Samsung expects doesn't make sense: a more powerful device is half the price.

Of course no one wants to feel like a tit after they've paid twice the price for a less powerful device.

What are you talking about? There is no similar device except the s7 edge.

          Wrong again.

          @Diji1:

No one cares about Chinese phones. Find me a person who uses 6GB of RAM in a mobile phone.

          Wrong again.

When OnePlus gets a significant market share then start talking. Right now, they're losing to the Nokia 3310.

    • It does look like a great phone but i have heard alot of bad things about the bloat and samsungs becoming laggy over a short period of time

      • I have every SAmsung since the Galaxy S2. I dunno what you're talking about. I have factory reset a couple of times, but it's easy to restore files using a backup or using Samsung Kies 3 software.

        • That is a good sign then! Would you recommend the s7?

        • @nick1498:

Of course. I can't think of a better phone besides the note 7.

I prefer Android, but if you've been using ios all the time, just stick with it.

      bad advice.

samsung s7 batman version phone. its a black model one ok

    My two recommendations:
    1. Wait for the new Nexus phones, buy a new one
    2. Get the Note 7. My favourite phone at the moment.

I have a Nexus 5X and it is fantastic, I recommend you have a look, it has a bargain price and it will only get cheaper when the new ones come out..

    • Ive heard lots of bad things about the bloat on samsung phones so i think i would most likely go for a nexus device

  • I am surprised that so many people chose 6P when the new nexus is so close.

    • Bang for buck.

But if it were for me, I'd either get iPhone 6s plus or LG G5 and keep the old phone as backup.

    • Yeah i am very surprised at the results, i think i wont make my decision until after they are released anyway

  • Nexus FTW, I think Note 7 is at the pinnacle of Droid chain but Sammy doesn't have a good track records of updates and the phone itself runs on slow touchwiz which part of why sammy needs so much processing power, if they use Vanilla Android, Note 7 will fly :D

    • Do you think wait for the new Nexus line up as the current model is almost a year old and probably wont last as long?

      • that kinda depends upon your budget and how soon you want the phone mate, frankly you can use the 6P for four more years comfortably. I still use my Nexus 4 that I got in 2012. But if you have enough funds, you can definitely wait for the new Nexus. That way, even if you decide to go for 6P, it'll be cheaper than now.

        • Yeah i am not really in any rush so i think i may wait to see how much the new Nexus devices are and then make my decision

  • There's also the new iPhone coming out withing a few weeks (probably). Might be worth a look in, although it will likely be $1200+. If you like the 5S form factor there is the iPhone SE which is the same size as the 5S but with the 6S internals.

If you're thinking of switching to android maybe play around with a friend's phone first to see if you get used to it. There are minor differences between iOS and Android which might put you off switching.

    • I've looked at lots of videos on the internet and am keen to try out Android. I also want a larger phone than the 5S so I wouldn't consider the SE. I think the iPhone 7 will be way too overpriced for what you are getting tbh and I don't think I would spend that much on a phone

  • I would say wait a couple weeks. Wait to see what Apple releases, wait to see how Samsung handles the recall, and wait to see the new Nexuses.

So far the Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus have been announced, and they are a good reason to unconsider the iPhone 6/6S.
So far the recall for the Note 7 hasn't been going well, so its a reason to unconsider it.
The Nexus 5X/6P are still good phones (also cheap), but I would warn that you should at least see the new ones first.
