My first post! Great start for your in game career if you plan on getting NBA 2K17.
From the site: Get a head start on your MyPLAYER career for free! Choose between 10 great colleges and play to improve your draft ranking. Your progress in the Prelude will transfer over to NBA 2K17.

  Welcome to Ozbargain!

  I've played it and here are some info about this.

  • This is separate to NBA 2K17.
  • Both versions (Xbox One and PS4) are about 14GB in size.
  • Requires an active internet connection to play (but Xbox Gold/PS Plus are not needed).
  • The achievements take less than 2 hours to obtain, with little skill needed (or no skill if you have the companion app).
  • The game will lock itself out after completing all 5 matches, rendering it useless.
  • It's also a trial.

    Review

    It's a trial with free achievements, all obtainable in less than 2 hours. It'll also lock you out of the game after completing the 5 matches. The tutorial sucks, there's already micro-transactions and it's ~14GB in size.

    It's terrible, but hey, the free and easy achievements are the redeeming quality of it.

    No-effort method of getting free Virtual Coins

    For those struggling to get Virtual Coins (VC) in NBA 2k17: The Prelude, I found an alternate solution.

    I absolutely suck at sports games and I found out that you'll have to earn about 400 VC during the 5 matches to purchase an upgrade. This is required to get an achievement for purchasing an upgrade for your character. However, once a match is complete, there's no going back and the game will lock up (as in, go kaput) – meaning there are 5 matches (or chances) to earn enough VC to buy it. Knowing me, I only had just 2 VC after the third match.

    So what I did was download the MyNBA 2k17 app (which is some card game) on my Android phone and signed into my gamertag (same as the one used for the console version of NBA). I then followed the prompts to reveal 3 face-down cards, most holding varying amounts of VC. Once you've gotten enough VC, quit both the app and game and reboot the console version to find the updated value of VC earned from the app.

    TL:DR – For no-effort Virtual Coins in "NBA 2k17: The Prelude", download the "MyNBA 2k17" app on your phone.

  Cheers for the post, I don't give a shit about sports games but downloaded it to my PS4 before anyway just for the (profanity) of it because I'll usually play these for an hour or two once every 3 or 4 years and be done…

  and since your post has shown me the Xbox version comes with achievements, where the PS4 one does not, I'll jump in on there for a few quick games. Cheers OP!

      It's a freaking job.

      Seriously though, I first interpreted this as "if you don't download this, you'll be forever behind everyone else and therefore suck. So, download this then buy our game at full RRP NOW"

      Not long after I realised it was an overglorified demo that wasnt worth the time to download.
