  • :( what a sweet deal to miss!

  • I'm receiving a dead page link - has it been pulled from the site?

  • Page is gone.

  • Now we wait for the orders being cancelled….

    • +1

I have got a confirmation email saying 'ready to pick up' this morning, so i don't think will be cancelled.

Correct me if i am wrong, but I do know JBHIFI usually will honor it, like the sony 7000mah portable battery last time I purchased, for $30 instead of $130!

      • Sometimes. The battery they honoured. There have been a couple since that they refunded and apologised. Last 2 times they had cheap items they refunded me after a few days saying "sorry we ran out of stock"

I'm guessing this will be the same. Some people will get theirs, the rest will get refunds.

  • +1

They still have stock. Elizabeth Street Melbourne has 6. I just picked up a black for 49. And guys at Barkley square said they have heaps

    • Thanks. Added this to description and removed expiry.

  • Was this a good deal or would you be better off with the Syma X5C-1? Thanks

    • +2

I'd go the X5C-1 if you don't care about the boat part. The RRP on these seem a little inflated.

      • Thanks

    • Was this a good deal or would you be better off with the Syma X5C-1? Thanks

      Yes.

      • To which? :)

  • Glad I waited until morning to decide. It's out of stock from my local and I already have a quadcopter in every size.

  • Just purchased one from Loganholme, QLD - still had 2 black and about 8 brown on the floor. Original price marked at $99.

  • Can someone (honestly, not being a dick) explain the appeal of these? If it could hold a GoPro I would understand but where does the RRP $250 come from? To me it looks like something you could get off Ebay for $15.

    • +1

RRP $250 is way over the top. The only appeal is water and air and made by Parrot which is reputable. I would grab a couple had the run time been longer.

    • I'm struggling to see how these are better than those and I made the mistake of purchasing one last night before I looked into it in a bit more detail.

As soon as I purchased and saw a few reviews I started hoping that my order falls through. It's still coming up as 'in progress' - so there's a chance I can save myself the $49.

I'd much rather get 2x cheap eBay ones and a few nerf guns to have battles trying to outfly and shoot eachother down for the price of this.

      • Was so close to buying one, lucky my local JB was sold out.
Might grab myself a Syma X5C-1 for about the same price and it can record video as well. :)

There's still 4 left at Macarthur Central in Brisbane CBD - it's near the counter on the first floor.

  • Thanks OP for this post, I ordered this morning on line and just picked it up at Macquarie Centre store. They still had about 5 left on display when I left, black and also the white one.

  • Ordered last night and still waiting on pickup confirmation.

    • Did you create an acc? I haven't got the email myself but my account says it's ready for pickup. Will see in half an hour :)

      • Checked on their website just says 'in progress'.

        • Yep, look further, mine still says that and I've picked it up already. Go to your account, then "Your orders", then hit the "Show Details". Good luck - mine showed "In Progress" but also "Ready in store" so, meh

        • @ThithLord: yeah checked about half an hour again and it's now showing ready in store.

Ordered this morning. Nothing other than a confirmation email. Hope it goes through. I used a $10 voucher that I got from jb hi Fi on their last pricing error "deal".

    • I used a $10 voucher that I got from jb hi Fi on their last pricing error "deal".

Thanks I forgot about that, I must use it next time.

  • 3 left at level 6 Westfield Sydney City! Price tag says $239 bit they scan at $49.

  • +1

Bought one, 2 black one left at JB Belmont WA

  • 3 left in the JB camera store on Elizabeth st in Melbourne

  • +3

Few are there in north Sydney. IMO, I saved $49 by not buying it.

  • There were a few left at the Hornsby store, they all had a yellow $49 sticker and apparently people have been buying them all morning, so safe to assume this isn't a pricing error.

  • Good Xmas prezzie for the father in law!

  • I got one - a bargain for $49. How them thought they could sell this for $239 is anyone's guess

I'm into drones and their electronics - I build them from scratch. This one is super fun

One thing I will say for Parrot is their after sales service

My son has a Parrot Jumping Sumo Minidrone. I bought it on Amazon as the local price was insane at the time. Anyway, not long after getting it, it developed a fault. I contacted Parrot in Australia (never told them I bought it from the US) and they told me to take it into the Apple Store in Perth and they would assess it. I did this and Apple gave me a new one, no questions asked (didn't even want to test it) and they never asked for a receipt

Try and do that with a drone off EBay or from Banggood

Looking for a cheap <$150 drone/quadcopter that can attach my GoPro or has a decent camera.

  • I just got 3 from JB HiFI in Piccadilly Arcade in Perth CBD (presents for the kids & myself ;)).

There would have still been 10-15 left, mind you, I was there on Monday and there would have been 40+. The guys said he'd sold over 10 this morning alone.

Although the price tag under the $49 one said $149.

  • Has anyone elses online order been confirmed (ready to pick up)?

    • I've checked My Account and it says Ready for Pickup even though I never got the email. So I just called the store and they said it is ready for pick up and not sure why the email was not sent out.

    • I got a pickup ready confirmation today from their store in Perth City (Enex100)

    • I got an email "SUBJECT: ‘Ready For Collection’" at 5:15pm and I had ordered mine before midnight Wednesday. Picked it up on the way home from work.

  • Ordered online with a pickup at the Macquarie store. Haven't been told that it's ready but the Mrs was there at lunchtime and said there were 5 on the shelf. Get the feeling I'll eventually get an email telling me that they're out of stock which won't really bother me much. Really don't need this but OzBargain instincts kicked in.

They had some other decent drones there for cheap too. One with 1080p video recording that was about medium size. Didn't pay much attention to anything else about it. It was $199. Some of the top end ones seemed pretty cheap too (under $1000) but I know bugger all about drones and their prices so probably best to ignore me.

  • i cant get it to connect on both ipad and android , both lights are red…

    • Might need a charge? Mine connected straight out of the box though had 25% battery

  • So this doesn't come with a controller out of the box?

    • Correct, phone app via Bluetooth

  • Picked up two after work tonight, made it in at 5:55pm just before they closed!

  • Ordered one yesterday morning, still no confirmation email for click and collect.
    Anybody else had the same?

    • +1

Yeah I never got a pickup confirmation email but logged into my account and under orders it said ready to pickup. My son is so excited wouldn't put the box down on the way home thanks TA.

      • Will have to check mine, thanks mate!

  • Got one at lunch today, at Adelaide JB Hifi store. Had a mate with me who got one also. A guy behind us walked out with 4, which I think cleaned the store out.
The girls on the desk were surprised at the discount, but it went through OK.

Flying fine but battery draining too fast

  • Picked up one today, quite good. Had bought a black one, but then changed it to a brown. Have not used on water yet, good 7 mins of play time, powerful and nice. Had some issues with updating the app, and sending it to the drone. But all good now. Absolutely love it. Thanks OP

  • There are 5 still in stock in tuggernong jbhifi

WARNING - Picked up my hydrofoil last night and played with it a couples times indoors. Lovely weather outside today decided to go to the local oval and try some stunts…On its maiden voyage (I admit I used the palm takeoff option) it somehow lost contact with my Nexus 6P and continued to rise and rise until it was but a spec in the sky :( I deliberately had set the max altitude to 3M and as soon as it reached about 2 metres above my head I pressed the 'Land' option to no effect…continued trying to manually lower it until it was out of sight. I guess this is a limitation of bluetooth..but I would expect it would operate well within a 10m radius. Any idea if I can approach Parrot with the issue? Or should I discuss with JB HiFi? Or should 'let it go'?

    • +2

I played with mine for about 10 minutes and after it landed, the left motor started to spin non stop. Taking the battery out and reinserting it doesn't do anything, it just instantly starts spinning again. These things are too fragile. Will be getting a refund.

    • +2

      Just let it go….

  • I got the last one at Charlestown, NSW

  • Can anyone please recommend any options/extras/accessories for this? Another battery perhaps? This is a good xmas prezzie!

  • Closing time at Elizabeth SA store and there 5 of them at the front of the store.

  • Just gabbed one from the highpoint store. They had a bunch on display with the discounted price visible. At least 8-10 left and closing time in 15 minutes.

  • Hi Guys, Need your HELP!

I bought this drone from JB HiFi (Home) Cranbourne Home Maker today around 2:15pm. Just now I opened the packing and there was no drone in the box.. there is only battery, screwdriver, a cable and packing material but no drone!!!! I am shocked really really shocked!! and I swear to God I am not lying. Not sure what to do now :(

Shop is now closed and I could not find JB's customer care number. I think I have to wait till morning and go to the store to tell this but I am afraid they may say "you took it and now claiming that the drone is missing".

I heard stories about people ordering something from overseas and getting empty boxes but I never ever thought even in my dreams that something like this could happen specially with Australian retailer..

    • +1

had that happen at Bunnings when one of the lights we bought had been replaced with a much cheaper one in the box. They didn't have any issue with swapping it and mentioned "it happens all the time" - sad
      Hopefully JB is understanding

      • Thanks.. I went to JB today and explained the case to the guy at checkout. He reluctantly exchanged the box with the new one and with the drone inside :)

As at 2pm today Cranbourne Home Maker center had couple of these left.

  • +3

Took one for a spin today and after barely a minute of play it stopped responding to down/land commands from the phone (I was still able to steer it a bit).

Drone continued to climb higher and higher even after loosing connection. After another minute or so it completely disappeared from view.

My advice - tie a string to it otherwise you'll say goodbye to $49 just like I did.

Can't even ask for refund now .. never found the drone again.

    • Yeah. An eagle probably took it. They train em to catch these now

    • Yeah exact same thing happened to me this afternoon! (see my warning a few posts above). I think I will at least attempt to get a refund from JB HiFi, but am not confident :(

      • Yeah happened to me too, was quite windy and my drone was literally carried away by the wind. I've read on other forums people with flyaway drones getting replacements from Parrot, but yeah it would be nice to get a refund from JB, let us know how you go :)

  • Stacks available at JB Nunawading. I had ordered online and didn't get any notification for 2 days. Went to the store and it was waiting for me.

  • Plenty still available at Bundaberg

  • Thanks got one, but can seem to Bluetooth connect nor see it with any of my iOS devices…
    Has anyone had any luck?

I can find it on my laptop Bluetooth though, very strange…

    • Ok, got it working now.
      1. I updated the firmware (instructions on their website)
      2. Downloaded the app FreeFlight Mini (not the Pro. one)
      3. Ensure Bluetooth is on
      4. Connect to Orak or New Z model in the app.

      Just works.

I'm tried this on iOS 10.

  • Can someone please confirm the compatible app for Android instead of FreeFlight3 I can see only FreeFlight Pro , Jumping & Mini?

    • Try the FreeFlight Mini app

      • Thats the app myself and my son have been using. We tried connecting the drone to the hydrofoil today was a bit of a gimmick but the drone itself is great fun and we are already planning our next purchase. The syma drones mentioned earlier look good but there are lots of different models on eBay not sure which one to buy.

    • Thanks ikago but seems like mini app works only for sail in water not for only drone :(

      • It works for both modes you just need to select which mode you want to use after you connect to the drone.

  • I am getting about 3 minute flying time before the battery goes flat, and it only charges to about 94%. Anyone getting more than this?

    • No

      Getting 6-7 minutes

  • it can't record videos, although it can only take still pics. if someone buying for video, not recommended

  • Try JB @97 Norton St, Leichhardt NSW 2040. Call them up first in morning and book. I did just that this afternoon and my friend picked it up for me. Good luck!!

  • I can't update this bloody thing! USB or Bluetooth…it's killing me.

  • So lucky i didn't buy one lol.

  • I'm enjoying flying this drone. It has excellent flight dynamics and is very stable in the hover. Flight time is short but have couple of spare batteries to extend the fun

    Recommended

  • plenty at Eastland - both colours available.
