eBay 15% off Sitewide Offer When You Spend $75 or More (Max $300 Discount)

11460
CODE15

Just received a call this morning, while I was on the way to work, from a trusted source that was right in the past about (3 out 5 times).

They are claiming that their friend's hairdresser sister was walking her dog with her best friend last night and her best friend told them that there will be 15% Site wide. Possibly starting today. I have no further details so don't ask.

It seems somewhat hard to believe due to the number of coupons that were floated this month but I thought I'd share it anyway. I possibly risk the largest number of negs if it's not coming to fruition but I'll take the punt to give my friends at ozbargain a heads up.

I am getting my cart content lined up….

Remember to use cashrewards…

  • Does this cover purchases from ebay other than based in Australia?

I wanted to buy something from the US but it wouldn't let me, said "This coupon isn't eligible to use on at least one item in your order". Anyone had any luck ordering from overseas?

      • +1

You should only have one type of currency for the items in your cart.

      • OK yeah, said the same for me when I tried to buy something from Syria.

Does this cover purchases from ebay other than based in Australia?

YES - But only one transaction per account, and only one currency per transaction.

Learn how to identify overseas prices. For example, in the Ebay normal "desktop" website, prices in italics in search results are overseas currencies, and the AUD price you see is a converted price… yet you are still purchasing in the overseas currency as-per original listing.

In the mobile websites and apps this is not as easy - even the cart sometimes shows AUD but it's not really. For complicated things like this it really is a MUCH better idea to not use an App, but to use full desktop site.

  • Great, I have bought myself a set of Masahiro mv steel knife and a set of Tojiro DP3 knife so I can compare. Got some Japanese Whetstone to go with them.

  • can you use this with freight items (ie auctions where you need to request quote from seller for freight) and then combine with other items?

    thanks

    • Of course. It is a discount applied AT TIME OF PAYMENT.

It is irrelevant how the item(s) got into your Shopping Cart.

Damn you Good Guys for raising your price by $300 on this TV just this morning: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Samsung-UA55KU6000W-55-140cm-…

    Damn you to hell!

    • +1

Check price on their online store. Good guys dont increase prices like futu, kogan or dick.

      • +2

They've had this advertised for $1,395, since the 8th of September at least, and it was definitely this price this morning as I can see via purchase history that someone purchased at this price. Then sometime today they increased it by a massive $300! Maybe just a coincidence? I dunno…looks suss to me.

        • +2

Yep the price was $1395 until 1:56PM before it increased to $1695 as you say:

          Sold history:

  • Does anyone know if the Ebay stores of Kogan and DickSmith (same as Kogan) issue invoices with GST and ABN details when purchased via Ebay?
I'm looking at a Macbook that is close to $1900, so its quite a bit of savings if traveling within the next 60 days.

    • +1

Kogan and Dicksmith sell imported stock unless it is mentioned in the product details. So you wont get any tax back in TRS.

    • I've been looking at a grey import MBP but it seems the invoice would not have GST. I also believe you will have to pay import taxes and duties. Does anyone have any further information on this? Cheers :)

      • I've been looking at a grey import MBP but it seems the invoice would not have GST.

Of course it won't have GST.

That's what "grey import" means - it is imported (by YOU) and the saving is primarily the lack of GST.

I also believe you will have to pay import taxes and duties.

Absolutely, on a $1900 import you absolutely most certainly would.

Does anyone have any further information on this?

What information would be needed? Imports over $1000 are subject to duties, taxes and charges when they come through Customs.

If you want to know accurate information about your particular import, contact Customs.

    • +1

      qc35

  • Anyone know if ebay invoices are valid receipts for TRS refunds when leaving AUS? i presume it should be OK?

    • So long as it's an itemised tax invoice showing the business' details including ABN.

    • You would have to request it from the seller

    • Anyone know if ebay invoices are valid receipts for TRS refunds when leaving AUS?

Definitely not. And Ebay invoice is not a Tax Invoice.

i presume it should be OK?

You need to request and receive a TAX INVOICE from the vendor.

  • I am trying to buy a air filter for my car. The filter is listed in the….. Vehicle Parts & Accessories>Car, Truck Parts>Filters… category. Can anyone with expert fine print reading capability let me know if this is excluded in the sale.

    • You can try it out by following these steps

      Add item to cart
      Put code15 in voucher box
Did it give you 15 % off?

By adding to cart you don't committee to buy it like when you use buy now. With add to Cart you can add mtiple items into your cart before you checkout

      • Got it I just need to proceed to check out and put the code in not in the cart!

  • Question. I went to buy a 1080 card via 'Buy Now', applied the discount code and went to check out where you agree to pay the item at X price - then it takes me to PayPal to pay. I logged into the wrong account and the payment failed (wrong card insufficient funds).

Now I'm not seeing the item anywhere in my purchase history or anywhere to try payment again. In the past I have won auctions and logged in to pay later - this doesn't seem to be the case here with 'buy now'. I had thought the 'Order' through eBay and the 'Payment' from PayPal was separate action so I should be able to try another payment?

So I'm concerned that if I add the item and buy another I might suddenly find myself with one left to make payment on… though try as I might I can't find any record of the previous order success or failure.

Also will this have soured my use of the code?. … nope seems to be active for me still. Guess I will try and buy it again.

    • Try logging out then back in to see if it's in your yet to pay items. Look in my account. Otherwise go ahead and buy another and email the seller if you have 1 left to pay afterwards. Usually seller or eBay can fix it. Shouldn't be a problem if you're buying from the same seller

      • Yeah I did log in and out then just bought another after not seeing it still .. now I'm not seeing the new purchase list either (though it has been less then 5 minutes and I do have a PayPal receipt) … hrm. Will sleep on it. You are right it is the same seller I'm sure it can be sorted without much issue.

      • OK I have been totally screwed.
Looks like the first payment attempt successfully charged the "global Shipping" portion but not the full amount. I didn't see the part charge last night.
The second purchase was fine (charged OK).
However somehow it screwed up in ebay who automatically cancelled the order when it showed up. Looks like the reason is the first order not being completely paid.
The second set of payments are showing as refunded in PayPal. The first Global Shipping charge is still pending.
Even though in PayPal it shows as refunded the money is still out of my account (item plus 2x shipping).

Called ebay who passed me around and have no concept of what has happened even after I explained it to them. They passed me to Global shipping who had no clue either about 2 payments (saying they can't see PayPal) so they passed me to PayPal who have no idea or care about ebay, they went to pass me to a 'specialist' which ended in a dead air line (they could not hear me).. 40mins of phone time.

The first ebay consultant adv that even if it is 'sorted out' I have now used my voucher and will not be able to use it again. However if I complete an order in the time period they will then give me credit for a future purchase (not the same thing though is it).

        • I would keep pestering them. They should be able to give you a refund for the 15% given they can see payments being made and refunded automatically

        • @Drifta:
The item I tried to buy is no longer available (sold out) at that price from the seller. I have also looked up the refund status and it seems PayPal refunds to a CC can take up to 2 weeks to actually revert. Until that does I can't spend the money anyway. I figure I have just lost out on this one no matter what. Tempted to neg the deal on the basis that their system can screw up so badly.

        • @Elijha: That really sucks. Keep pestering ebay to see if they will either provide a credit or somehow reinstate the order. Worst case ask for a extra coupon code to use in the future/ get in writing that you will be credited 15% off a future purchase.

I have never really had a big issue like this before, usually small stuff.

  • I added my items to the cart but I want to make sure the coupon works.

But there's no: "voucher" "code" etc box to enter the voucher. I only notice if I commit to buy the item…

    Anyone can help?

    • +1

If you have a cart then you are probably looking at your cart list this page allows you the edit the cart details (add, remove, change quantity) then you "lock your shopping list" by choosing to 'proceed to checkout' this is not a commitment to buy - just review your listed items, on this screen you can now apply the coupons etc that can affect your paid price then press "commit" to actually pay the confirmed amount.

      • Thankyou!!!!

I thought "proceed to checkout" is the commitment button! :D

        code works!

        Thanks!

        • +2

Yes I know what you mean. Amazon in this situation has a small text statement under that button that advises something like 'You can review this order before it's final.' Which I'm sure helps people proceed to check final costs etc.

  • Any tricks on using coupon with multiple currencies in one txn. US and AUD. Asking me to pay separate

    • Ebay need to state that it doesn't apply to international items.

They don't need to state it, because the code DOES APPLY to international items.

My cart says "Add 499 more to qualify".

    Tempted.

    • Max discount $300

  • Be aware that your eBay ID and PayPal account must both be linked to the same email address.

I bought something using the code and my primary eBay account then committed to a second purchase using my second eBay ID. However I found that the coupon didn't work when I entered my PayPal account (which had an email adddres that only matched my primary eBay ID)

Think this must be a new addition to their T&Cs since last site-wide code as I did the same thing last time and it worked fine.

In the end I had to create a new PayPal account with mathching email address and it got it working.

Has anyone else have a problem where after you click on pay, some items are still not processed and still showing in cart? I bought 9 items only to find 6 actually went through in ebay and paypal, while all 9 show in netbank as pending since transaction just happened. Ebay said to wait 48hours for things to sort itself out and see if I'm required to buy again, they will credit me 15%.

    • Yes this happened to me with a targeted voucher a week ago. It was spend $50 get $20 off. I was spending $51 on a few items but only one item went through at checkout and it did take quite a while to process ($26 item so i didn't get $20 off). I waited a few days but 1 week later items are still in my cart. I also tried to use the coupon that same day I'd first tried to use it, but I kept getting error messages.

I didn't contact eBay because it was 9:30pm the day the coupon was going to expire

  • Sorry if this has been asked before but who pays the difference if a coupon is applied? Does the seller still get the full amount?

    • +1

EBay will pay the difference, seller still gets their full price, minus the fees

      • sweet, thanks!
