  • Remote has so many useless buttons

    • but specs are okay will play everything? have i missed anything? mkv / mpeg 4 H265 ect

      • i bought different brand of 905x player as i wanted android 6. they seem to work ok ….. i have a logitech keyboard attached to mine ….. haven't tried 4 k as i have no 4k content or screen but 1080p movies , netflix etc work fine. i'm sure when android 7 comes out i will need to buy a new box again ….. they aren't much into software upgrades for old models when a new processor comes out and sales drop.

says that the 905x is a cut down cheap version ….. not sure what you get with whatever the non cutdown version is ?

        • +1

S912 is the high end version of the S905X. The cutdown version of the S905X is the S905L and S905.

        • @Clear:

Can you please find out what type of IR remote this product comes with?
          http://www.geekbuying.com/item/T95Z-Plus-Amlogic-S912-Androi…

        • i have one of these good stable box but wifi is bad. only works with ethernet. very poor reception wifi

        • @Fixmyi: Does the X96 have BT? Not mentioned anywhere, but noticed it on the manuals front cover, not that that means anything..

        • @bamzero: yes bt is there.i have 2g/16gb version.so keep in mind kodi and other apps will be very slow on 1gb ram version

  • +1

Only a few buttons are more than sufficient.

  • What would you do with this? Is it basically a chromecast 2 alternative?

    • Kodi.
Its worth having a chromecast as well, e.g. for Netflix. Android netflix is limited.

      • Kodi will be super slow on 1gb r version.better buy 2gb/16gb
Poor WiFi makes it less useful as it need to be plugged in directly via Ethernet

        • What does that mean? Slow to switch to kodi from another app? I've had no problems on other devices. Is Android 6 a ram hog?

        • +1

@manic: I felt a lag while switching apps and whole set up super slow with 1gb ram.so after that I bought 2 gb ram version then the WiFi wasn't good.i use and sell plenty of these boxes. Mecool box is good value for money for 70$ I guess with external antenna and solid kodi experience

Slightly cheaper here, X96 2G/16GB for US$34.99 at Banggood

There is also this at Geekbuying for US$35.99, or this one at Banggood for $US34.99. These are 2G/8GB but with Bluetooth.

    • aliexpress is 7% cashback from cash rewrds also I was wanted AU plug so no need for travel adapters I have a problem with my hands so don't like using them

First post please so go easy

Why do people write that stupid comment? The first part of the description is what shows in the search, so all we see in Deals summary AND in Google Search results is some pathetic whining and pleading instead of helpful information about the deal.

It got so annoying a few years ago that the Mods published an Ozbargain rule that it wasn't allowed. Now it seems to becoming more prevalent again - is that rule still in place?

      easy mate, easy…

    • Its not stupid. People are just naturally nervous about a first post, with so many reading.
Sure its mildly annoying, but if they are new, they might not know that.

    • More annoying things on OZB than a small throwaway line in a post. Lighten up dude.

    • It's just an annoyance, however I find that paranoid and defensive behaviour just riles me. Over the years there has been other discussions on this behaviour, but there is specific comment about this in the Ozbargain Posting Guidelines (site rules)…

      Direct link to the clause

      Deal Posting Guidelines

      Starting Etiquette

◾ New users shouldn't write I'm new, don't flame me etc.

For first time posters, it's best to avoid telling the community that you are new and asking them to take it easy on you. The “L-plate icon” will be shown to indicate if this is your first post.

See, there is already an icon that indicates "First Post" and that was added specifically so that people could be encouraged to focus on the deal they were posting, rather than blabbering on about whether they were new or not.

I am pretty sure there was a "Mod's rule" that edited all OPs that included it so that the deal description was kept on topic and useful to others.

Just because a member has posted 10,000 deals doesn't mean that the deals are any better or worse than a newbie's deal. It's either a good deal or a bad deal.

I wouldn't mind it at the end as a side comment - my objection is when it is the very first line.

  • How does this compare to mini m8s II ?

  • I've got one of these and I have it plugged in via ethernet cable. Absolutely superb….Exodus and Sports Mania (subscription required) and I'm sorted.
