  • Likely to have Samsung S7 in the deal?

    • yep. Nearly always.
I have a feeling The Good Guys, Futu Online and Kogan will be in the list.

But is there any genuine saving bargain?

    • Check the previous ebay price and you'll find out.

      • How do I check?

        • Click on the ebay product link then sold link. Scroll down the bottom of the page and you'll see their previous prices.

    • But is there any genuine saving bargain?

      Why do you care?

Compare the price on Ebay with the price you can get it elsewhere… then buy from where the price is lowest.

  • I'm really surprised that Ebay can afford to subsidise these sales all the time. I guess it must be making them money either way…

win win for all; good times!

    • People buy these things then resell their old items. Ebay takes a cut.

"Win win for all; good times!" as dingdong3000 says!

  • Okay. I just decided I also need a Moshi Bass Burger or a Xiaomi Bluetooth 4.0 speaker. Point me in the right direction wise one.

Please but GearBest, I've had problems with them before.

OzBargainers, any recommendations for a 27" 1440p OR 34" Ultrawide montitor?

    • tagging onto this for any recommendations for 34" ultrawide.

    • Gaming or general use?

      • Some general use, some gaming. I have a GTX980. Not convinced if I will benefit from G-Sync as the 980 might not be able to generate > 100fps at 1440p

        • For me, G-sync is just a gimmick.

If you have a GTX980, it should be able to handle 1440p at 60fps.

I bought this one during the last 15% eBay sale.

          27' 1m 144hz Tn monitor

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/311665935121?_trksid=p2055119.m14…

And I was going to get this ultra wide.

          34' 5ms 75hz Ultra wide IPS monitor

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/191941958195?ssPageName=STRK:MESI…

Around the $700 (before discount) mark, so reasonably priced.

        • @JajaMinx: Thanks for that

The AOC AGON AG271QX-75 seems like a good one for gaming. I see its a TN panel. How is it for general use and colour accuracy? A lot more IPS panels around these days for the 27" size. They still have low response times in the 5-8ms range though.

If I go 34", I'd would be looking for 3440X1440 resolution. From what I have read, game compatibility can be an issue.

        • +1

          @Sparky:

If you want colour accuracy and vibrancy, then you must get an IPS monitor.
However, in terms of response time an IPS monitor will never be as fast as a Tn monitor.

In general, IPS monitors have much lower frequency (60-75hz) and slower response time (4-5ms).
Gaming on a 4k monitor will require a GTX1080/GTX1070 and lots of video RAM.

IMHO, the AOC monitor will do the job for gaming and general use with 2k resolution.
It makes a lot of sense to have a 4k TV because of its size (55"+), but it's a bit redundant for a monitor that's only 34" and you won't find a lot of games that will run on 4k resolution.

If you're into photo or video editing then you have to go with an IPS.
But for gaming and general use, then a Tn monitor is fine.

        • -1

@JajaMinx: You have got to be absolutely joking about 4k on 34" being redundant. Terrible advice.

        • @auna:

Tell me how many games can run on native 4k not scaled up 4k?
I'm talking about a gaming monitor, not for watching movies.

Not to mention, the hardware requirements to drive a 4k monitor at a reasonable frame rate.
I'm talking about practicality here not some fantasy system most people cannot afford.

        • @auna:

It's practical advice. It's a waste of time to get 4K on a monitor unless you can drive it. So you pay extra fro a video card and extra for a monitor… to get smaller pixels than the 1080p or UHD pixels that were so small you couldn't see them anyway.

hmm, kind of sh!ty store selection…

  • Been waiting all day for the store list. How sad. Was going to buy phone from good guys, with kogan as potential backup if no Australian seller was listed (although undecided on grey importer, would have to be a pretty great price). Figured one of them are always included.

Does any of the included stores even sell phones? What a weird selection.

Edit: shopping square has phones, but looks like grey importer.

    • Ausluck does but they have jacked up all their prices quite heavily

    • Ausluck prices are all Apple RRP or close to it. They did this last time as well.

      • No way. They have jacked up the prices to 10% or more on all of the iPad's that I checked.

        • On rrp or ten per cent on their normal prices?

        • @jlogic: On Apple RRP

        • @Austin 316: wowsers that is even worse. Thanks for pointing it out.

LOL no I haven't…. thanks for reminder. XD

    • ANy 2TB Recomendations?

        • eBay prices are often higher than the store's own website due to extra fees incurred through ebay and paypal - regardless of discount codes.

        • @eug:

What I'm saying is it's cheaper to buy from a brick and mortar store since Wireless1 is not on the list of retailers.

This 20% Tech Sale is a joke.

I already found a few items that I can buy for cheaper from brick and mortar stores.

        • @JajaMinx: OK fair enough, but to be fair there are also a few items that you can buy on ebay for cheaper, with probably more to come. They're slowly trickling to the front page.

  • +2

You can try this link to search them all. just used previous ones to build it. It doesnt filter tech, as I didnt see departments listed in the rules. Few tests looks like it works, but if there is someone smarter that can correct please do so..

Note custom_hometheatre, ezydigital, and au-tonertec are excluded, as their store names didnt come up with a valid store.

Whilst I don't agree with the price jacking, I don't understand why buyers would purchase such a thing based on "discount" or without comparing with other vendors.

So $933.38 minus 20% = $746.70. Can you buy it cheaper than that elsewhere or not?

    • Well looks like I'm not buying anything today

  • +3

Unfortunately the prices are terrible for the items I was after …
Looking at a main PC upgrade, prices through Staticice are $988. Through eBay $1213, after discount $970.40 (multiple sellers and hassle with warranty)
Looking at a new build to replace my HP microserver, $636 from Staticice. eBay price of $817 initially, $653.60 after discount.

    • +2

      I think so too.

Selective retailers = give these retailers a chance to jack up prices

Site wide = plenty of real bargains

The last 15% site wide was good.

      • agree, site wide was insane as EVERYthing is discounted. unlike this fake AUsellers, those are really discounts. bought some lens from japan store, so damn happy.

  • +4

What a shame TGG is not in the sale..they usually pretty good with their prices

No they aren't that bad. But there's a few haters out there.

      • Probably depends what you order, I have had fine experiences with them but they have been simple stuff like cables and memory cards.

        • I'm getting it express posted it aswell so hopefully won't be too much trouble :3

        • @HarveySpecter: I bought a Razer Turret yesterday at 10 on the dot. They still haven't posted yet :(

  • Any links to search all participating stores?

Edit: Looks like its this - http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_fsradio=%26LH_Sp…

  • Is there a mightyape rep lurking?

  • Jeez. The one lens I am looking for isn't on the sale :-(

Ted's lists every other EF-M lens, but I am looking for a Canon EF-M 11-22mm to go with the M3 I bought in June and they have it on their regular store, but not eBay store - bugger.

  • Well this is a fizzer… Just checked a few prices on a few things ranging from phones to video cards and prices are on the higher end scale of prices. Some are higher than the highest price on static ICE.

  • Typical price jacking going on again. Have had a Arlo camera on my list from Wireless1 since last deal. It has been around $188 for months. Thought I would get a spare one this time around and now their price is $222.

Don’t know why anyone bothers posting these bi-monthly sales any more. All the retailers seems to take a leaf out of the Kogan handbook.

    WTF Wireless1??

    • You still save $11.

      • OMG!! Roll out the banners and lets hold a ticker tape parade!! $11!!! :D (When I could have saved $37 if the price jacking wasnt the new norm for these sales.)

My point was not as what saving can be had, but more at the price jacking that goes on a few days before these sales start. I know i am still "saving" money, but my objection is retailers jacking prices because people see 20% off when in actual fact, it isnt 20% off, because their prices have been jacked to negate any real savings.

        • OK, but keep in mind that a ticker tape parade is going to cost you significantly more than $11.

        • @eug: Well, if they didn’t jack prices during the sale, I would have $37 to spend on a parade! :D

  • Wireless 1 are terrible.

Asus router on their own website $239 - on Ebay $280 Whaaaaa?

    • +1

Asus router on their own website $239 - on Ebay $280 Whaaaaa

Ebay charges a commission on every sale. Almost ALL vendors have a lower list price on their own website compared to eBay. They do this so that they use eBay as an advertising medium, and drive the sales via their own site.

Lets try some maths… $280 minus 20% equals $224. Is $224 on Ebay less expensive than $239 on website?

      It's not hard.

    • Wireless1 used to be very good.

I bought my ASUS RT-AC68U AC1900 router from them last Dec for $194.65 after 15% (listed as $229).

I guess things changed and like many have said, eBay is becoming the old Dick Smith.

  • I wish ebay could somehow make them lock in prices prior to this event. It kinda makes the discount pointless when it's really not "20%" off the prices were only changed shortly before.
