Boost is introducing 2x new mobile plans tomorrow (Oct 25). The first is a $30 plan with unlimited national calls and texts, plus up to 7GB data over 28 days. The second is a $10 plan with unlimited national calls and texts, but with a 7 day expiry. Boost uses Telstra's 4G network. Enjoy :)

Note: thanks to aroryo & Maxx Power in the comments for pointing out that setting up auto-recharge gives you a full month of service, irrespective of number of days in that month.

  • I'm on coles mobile $20 plan with unlimited text and talk and 2gb data. hope they get much cheaper.

  • I was just doing some sums, for anyone on the old $40 plan with the 30 day usage and 3gb anytime plus 2gb per weekend (up to 11gb) it's $487 per year

New $40 plan increased to 5gb anytime, though only 1gb per weekend (up to 9gb) and is the same price if you auto-recharge, otherwise $521 on 28 day cycle

New $30 plan is tempting, just the data is a little low (up to 7gb). Auto recharge at $365 with a saving of $122 on either $40 plan

Great deal, really depends on needing the full coverage and how much data you need (or wifi you can snare!)

  • Awesome deal and sweet spot of $30 is excellent. I settled with the Telechoice $28 per month plan earlier this year with 2.5GB data; this trumps that and will be my next plan. Thanks TA!

  • I still reckon Woolworths Mobile $27 (with Everyday Rewards Card) for unlimited calls & texts, $100 overseas calls & 3gig data on the Telstra 4G network is the best one. And it's a 30 day expiry

    • Boost mobile utilises the full Telstra Network, where's woolworths only uses part of the Telstra Network. This makes a big difference in terms of coverage and speed especially in remote areas.

      • Yeah i get Telstra 4G LTE through Boost mobile. Even in this area where the mobile signal isn't as good as others around here but i've seen it manage to get to about 1mb/s download.

  • Question for those on boost, with my Telstra prepaid I can purchase Google Play items with my credit (if I recharge 40 I get 40 of credit etc) can I do the same with boost?

    • +1

Unfortunately not. I just tried, so as to make sure.

      • Thanks, did you try set up, bill my Telstra account with it?

        • I did, and it does seem to add it as a payment method. But when I try to purchase something, there is an error from the carrier - I believe something to the effect that there is no credit (which I think is kind of correct - I don't really have $40 credit, per se).

        • @madak: Thanks Madak.

Telstra prepaid works like that, if I put 40 on, I have 40 to spend on the play store. its basically the main reason I haven't switched over.

        • @wisc: agreed, I have a few Telstra prepaid sims that I purchased half price, just for he Play store

  • +2

Just activated a $20 sim pack I had from a while back. Just letting you know that it activates on the $30 UNLTD+ offer instead of the grandfathered $20 UNLTD offer.

    • That's useful for me and my many recharges, Thanks heaps for that

      • Only for the new starter/sim packs, not recharges. If you recharge with an old $20 recharge, you will still be on the old $20 UNLTD plan rates or put on pro rata if you have changed to the new offers.

        • No stress, that is exactly what I have. Mid next month I'll be unleashing another random number for the sake of $5 per month phone bills. You're a champion for clarifying

        • @Niceone8: is it really worth it? what happens if people want to contact you?

if you have dual sim, your just paying for a second sim anyway, unless I guess you set it for long expiry…:S

  • My maths were never that great, so maybe someone can tell me if I have this straight…
I just took a look at the Woollies catalogue, seems that there is currently 20 percent off the $45 recharge, plus $2 for a SIM.
So, if my maths work out, you pay $38 up front, get 16GB of data and 15GB of that rolls over when you go onto the lower $30 recharge, which will cost $27 with a Rewards card.
And, small but telling difference, the Boost recharge cycle is 28 days and Woollies is 30 days. So, you need 13 recharges a year on Boost and only 12 on Woollies?
So, does that makes the Woollies deal 7.7 percent cheaper?

  • From their customer service "Upon checking here, since your under the unlimited plan. You need to have a separate data for you to be able to call on 1800 or 13 number."

  • Guys
    A dumb question I guess.
What does it mean by 5gb anytime + 1gb on weekend. Does it mean that every weekend they will add 1gb to the data balance? Or it is just 1gb to be used vet the weekend whether you use it or not
