        • Showing as $164 for me - minus 10% discount makes $148. Has the price gone up in the past hour?

        • +2

@shake: lol no just my dodgy maths, I assumed since it was MSY's 20th birthday that the discount was 20%

        • +1

          @epicttiimm: msy.. please note

    • +1

      ASRock H170M-ITX/ac $164 + further 10% discount
      Gigabyte H170N-WIFI $189 + further 10% discount
      Gigabyte Z170N-WIFI $206 + further 10% discount

  • Can MSY place items on hold so you can pick it up later in the day?

    • +2

Yes. Just email the appropriate store you wish to pickup from with the parts you want. Wait for the replay and if in stock they will hold until end of next day for pickup.

  • Closest store being Cannington, if they don't have stock of a monitor (supposedly none in WA), can I pay to order one from another store/state? Anyone done that before?

    • Technically, you can place the order from other state. However, since this promo is for instore only, you may not be able to do it this time. Really sorry about that

  • +1

Important to remember that it's only 2 per item.

  • -1

CPU cooler at 10% off but not the CPU itself at 10% off?. Just wonder why the CPU's aren't in the sale even although motherboards are, that's all.

    • +3

      Because margin.

      • +1

Yeah i suppose so. Profit margins must be quite tight on CPU's if they can't do 10% off.

        • +2

Yea I think so. Also the 10% off on some items might tempt some people to build a new system and likely end up buying cpu, ram, and ssd with them anyway.

    • +9

We do not even earn $$ on CPU :(

      • So you guys sell CPU as part of some charity work? :p

        • +2

Obviously Msy only carries CPUs to sell motherboards /tinfoil

        • @cheng2008: wise words ! :)

        • Backdoor rebates paid annually I would imagine.

  • +4

Can we order online and get the 10% discount on pickup?

I don't feel like lining up for an hour or more and then finding out everything I want is out of stock.

    • You'd probably be queuing out in the car park in the hot sun too. The queue might be that long. Fun hey.

      • +1

That used to be a normal day at MSY.

The worst part is that there's not enough car parks.

      • The longest wait in a queue for me was about 45 minutes. Queue extended outside the shop. We all were eyeing each other with shifty eyes, wondering if the people in front of us were going to buy the last item we have been waiting from the store that day. Yeah, the good old fun days :)

    • +10

Yes, you can just place an pickup order at full price and pick up instore with 10% discount on top (during promotion period)

  • +5

Strangely, I really like a PDF pricelist. It makes everything so clear and it helps with comparing different variants of a certain product.

  • +2

Hope there'll be birthday cake served while we're queueing. :)

Congratulations on the 20th birthday BTW!

    • +1

How about BBQ this Xmas ?

      • Great idea! Hope there'll be10% discount for all participants :)

However, I don't think the shopping centres would let you fire up a BBQ inside (e.g. Auburn NSW)

  • inb4 prices will be jacked up by 10% tomorrow comments

  • +2

Nice but not going to drive 200 km to save 10%. Maybe next time the online store can be involved.

  • Do you have the HTC Vive headset? If so, will that be discounted since it's both a headset and a monitor?

    • We do not carry HTV unfortunately

  • Why not ssd

  • Owning Antec SLK3000B for almost 10 years and still in service, I guess it's time to replace it for USB3 support. However, I quite like Fractal Design's Define Rx line of the cases, any suggestion on other brands for cool and quiet computing on budget from PDF pricelist?

  • +6

So how does the instore only work? Can we order online and pick up and pay instore for the discount?

    • +2

yes would like to know this too

    • +2

Yes, just place a pick-up order and pay instore with 10% discount during promotion period

  • +3

Congrats MSY, love the boys bringing the cheapest overall prices to the aussie PC scene

    • Thank you :)

  • +1

Are case fans also discounted? Looking to get some Noctua ones for my current build

    • +4

Yes, case fans are discounted as well since they are kind of "CPU cooler"

  • Aww man, just bought a motherboard from them 2 days ago… poop :(

  • +1

<profanity>ing hell. Not what I need when I'm trying to save money. New case and PSU incoming.

  • -7

Missed the part where I'm supposed to get excited over 10%

    • +11

They are generally the cheapest already so 10% is pretty good if you need something.

    • +6

We are talking about 10% discount on MSY prices, not 10% discount on Hardly Normal prices. Big difference here.

      • -1

Ok, will and wait see what is on offer.

        • +1

What is there to wait and see? You can look up all those item prices from MSY's PDF price list, then do your own calculation and take 10% off those qualified items.

  • +11

Shouldn't it be 20% off to celebrate 20th birthday?

    • +66

      Too early to go bankrupt

  • What fans? i'm interested in buying the Noctua NF-F12/NF-S12A that you guys have. Do you have 10% discount on those as well? :)

    thanks in advance

    • +1

Yes :) 10% discount on case fans as well

      • +1

Ah, thanks for the very quick reply. Hmmmm, might consider buying some of those Noctua fans then hehe :)

  • Why do your stores move every two weeks?

    • Because after a certain time building owners feel obliged to increase rent. When there is cheaper alternatives you move.

  • Any idea if the MG279Q will be coming back in stock during the promotional period?

    • ETA is mid Nov :(

  • Hitachi 4TB drive for me after reading this damning article
    http://www.pcworld.com/article/3071180/storage/who-makes-theā€¦

    • -1

you have to take that into context.
Can't claim A-Brand HDD has x-amount of failures vs B-Brand HDD when you've only been running A-Branded for 1 year vs B-Brand for 10 years.
Obviously you're going to see more B-Brand failures popup from the older HDD's thats been sitting in the racks for much much longer

      • Check the "Hours in service" so. Hitachi get 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th place for their models, or 6 places in the top 10.
        I'd call that a win.

  • So everything on parts list will be 10% off right? if parts list price says $100, i pay $90 etc..? Just to confirm.. haha

    • +2

So everything on parts list will be 10% off right?

      No.

      Read title?

All Motherboard, VGA, Monitor, Headset. Keyboard & Mouse, Headset, Case&PSU, Cooler, HDD (except SSD)

      • yea i read it, haha my point of asking was that the price list is already 10% off price… thank you anyway.

        • price list is already 10% off price

          no it won't be.

        • +1

          @CVonC: thank you for clarifying!

  • so 10% off your current sale items as well? eg ASROCK Z170 Extreme4 -> $177 - 10% ?

    • Not in conjunction with any other offer unfortunately

      • i just got it for 160, so not exactly 10% but close enough

  • +3

I might hold off and wait for the 200 year anniversary sale when things are 100% off

    • +2

If you invent an immortal elixir, then you may get to that sale. But then you will probably be so rich from your inventioin, you can buy the whole MSY business :p

  • +1

Omg just in time, I don't know if to bite with one of the 1070 cards or wait for the 1080 to drop, hopefully cheaper during the American black Friday sale.
If not can anyone recommend which is the best 1070 card available at msy atm? Pretty please if you do knowol or have experience?
I don't always believe the most expensive is the best. Just know that my TV(connected to my pc), is 1440p but the gtx1080 would be an overkill since I'm not planning to change my TV for another 2 or 3 years.
    Thank you in advance

  • I wanted to buy a 4K monitor. But it seems the 28" Samsung (LU28E85KRS) is expensive after discount. It has been $490 in previous deals, now $590 before disount.

  • Looking for a decent mech keyboard to replace the crappy G710+ keycaps that have all fallen apart after light use on a second machine… only replacements are direct from logitech US so 30USD+ship not worth it when it would be replacing it with the same crappy plastic that snaps.

Thinking Corsair K70 range but there's so many, have no idea what's good, opinions please folks?
Or Steelseries? I'm leaning towards Cherry MX Red's…

Main machine has G910, but not a great fan of it…

    • Firstly you need to decide which Cherry colour you want and narrow your choice down from that.

      • I think Red's, don't know why since I've never tried it, just heard it's the best compromise for gamers that's not too clicky/loud.

Don't need RGB either, single colour will do. Which would be best bang for buck in Cherry MX REDs?

        • Generally speaking Red is better suited for gamers with linear movement without the tactile click.
Personally I have no idea which model is the best bang for buck because I am shopping for one mechanical keyboard myself. Looking at a Cherry Brown.

        • @blublu: I have the K70 with Browns. It's still as solid as can be after a year of use, and it's pretty good for what it is. I've enjoyed typing on it more lately now that I've gotten used to the keys a bit better, and they're a bit more worn in.

It's still kinda loud though. Not as bad as the atrociously clicky blues, but nowhere near as quiet as non-mechanicals either.

        • @ProspectiveDarkness: got a corsair stealth. first mech kb. really nice to type on. still has the tactile finish and registers presses nicely. not as loud being the stealth version, but its still noticeable. if this is stealth, i wouldnt be able to handle the noise of a non-stealth.

    • I have a Corsair K70 RGB Cherry Brown. It's an awesome keyboard. I did however had to return it for exchange straight away. My 1 and 2 keys were around the wrong way around!!! Don't know if I happened to get a refurb or manufacturer issue. The brown doesn't make too loud clicky sounds. Like one of the other guys said here, you gotta go try them out and decide which one you like the feel of the most. The RGB makes the keyboard hypnotising :) So preeetty.

  • Whats your return policy on monitors?

Do you offer refund for BLB or IPS glow?

    • +2

No soup for you, next customer

    • motion2082, which monitor are you planning to buy? Is it either one of those AOC/Acer/Asus 27-inch monitors? Can you see them listed in MSY's PDF price list?

      • Looking at the 27" IPS 165hz GSync Panels…but these are a lottery at the moment. PLE gave me a straight refund for a bad QC Asus with IPS glow and BLB. Not sure if MSY will do the same, my customer service experiences have always been bad. Get in and get out = MSY

        • Have you checked MSY's price list yet? If it is not listed, then it is not available.

        • @edfoo:

          Wasnt my question but thanks

  • Now it's the time I get a 1070

    • You're probably better off getting the EVGA from Amazon UK…

      • nah am a sucker for strix.

  • hard drive enclosure included ?

    • Unfotunately nope :(

  • +1

In store kills the deal as I now live interstate.
    Sucks to be me.
    Happy Birthday

    • Are you living in Northern Territory at the moment?

      • Rural QLD.
For future reference, If you click a persons name, you can see their member details like Location, Date joint Etc
        :)

        • +1

Gives you a good excuse to visit Brisbane.

        • @edfoo: 5.5hrs one way drive mate.
Thats like NSW end to end return and then some!
          Welcome to rural life edfoo

        • @ozy: Go on a weekend holiday to Brisbane, and you get to buy PC components from Soup Nazi theme park.

        • @edfoo: thanks for your advice edfoo.

  • I don't suppose speakers are included in this sale (even though headsets are)? Thanks.

    • Sorry, speakers are not included
