    • If you can get HN to pricematch whichever retailer you had in mind, then using AMEX would beat ebay 20% off in theory, since this deal has a maximum discount of 33% off assuming if you only have 1 AMEX and spend exactly $300. However, most people have more than 1 AMEX card so 33% discount still applies beyond $300

      • sigh just tried online:

        Are you able to price match a go-pro hero5 - http://www.pushys.com.au/gopro-hero5-black.html?

The online price is the current competitive price. If you have seen the same product at a cheaper price, please send through the seller's details and we'll see if their offer meets our price matching policy.
Sorry xxx we don't match if competitors that do not operate multi-store omnichannel retail operations

they have a retail door in Canberra - I rang this morning to confirm. Does this apply?
Omnichannel - does that mean a physical store + online ?

yes i know they only have one store in canbera
it has to be multiple stores :(

        • They are the worst when it comes to price matching. I tried to pricematch a Forerunner 235 and they rejected as you can't do a guest checkout and need to sign up with an email address to proceed..

They used this exclusion clause to worm out of it:

"Trade, special event, club or membership offers, or prices not available to the general public"

I argued that is is free to sign up, and so not a paid membership, and is therefore available to members of the general publi but they wouldn't budge

  • +2

If you can get HN to pricematch pushys $279.99 is a cracking price for a Forerunner 235

Can someone confirm that buying the HN gift cards using their AMEX Express system would trigger the deal?

  • -3

I'm considering buying and selling the iPhone 7+ (happy with my 1+1)

  • Interesting. My AMEX issued Qantas Discovery card didn't have any of these in the offers area of the American Express App. I was able to manually register.

I tried to register my ANZ issues AMEX FF Black card, but it said that card wasn't eligible.

    • I registered all my ANZ FF Black AMEXs via amexconnect, no issue whatsoever

    • For Discovery Card it didn't appear in the app, but appeared on the website. Attempting to Enroll just brought me to my AMEX account where the offer wasn't available for that card.
For my AMEX FF Platinum, it appeared on the AMEX website and I could just save it as usual.

    • Same for my Velocity AMEX. Not in my AMEX "Offers" section but was able to put the number in the link above and register.

It does appear in AMEX Connect for my CBA and NAB issued AMEXes, however.

    Thanks OP!

  • Can anyone remember the denomination of prepaid visa/mastercard and the fee to purchase at HN ?

    • +1

If you find a store which sells them let us know ;-)

    • $100, $200 & $500 Visa card. Fee I think is $5.95 or $4.95.

      • Not all stores stock them

        • Can anyone share which HN have this prepaid visa/mastercard please ?

      • $5.95 it is, coz I thought of this the other day too 😜

        • Cheers

Do they put these gift cards through their regular eftpos machine? And therefore eligible for cashback?

  • Does Harvey Norman sell gift cards to other stores? Just thinking????

    • +1

The Iconic do with their retail store, just thinking too!!

      • What other stores gift cards do they sell?

        • interested in this..

  • +5

Does this work with the Harvey Norman egift cards from here?

    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/gift-cards

    • +1

      keen to know this also
Obviously, normal in-store gift card purchases work, but I know that some gift card purchases go through a different portal - ie David Jones
      anyone tried yet?

      • No so sure if it will work with all in store purchases. I purchased a $300 GC in store yesterday. I used a bank issued card and have not received the confirmation email. I am still hoping they might credit anyway. But it looks like everyone gets a confirmation email after card spend!

        • I didn't get a confirmation email, but my transaction had to be refunded a few minutes after they put it through.

        • I ended up receiving the $100 credit.

        • @puffinfresh:

Hi, your transaction was an online e-gift card purchase? Was it using an Amex/Bank issued Amex? Can you update next week if the $100 credit gets reversed?

        • It was an instore visa gift card purchase. I'll update if it gets reversed.

        • @puffinfresh: what is the expiry dare for the visa gift card you purchased? Is the design still red letters with a beige background?

        • @feihong: it had already expired. That's why they refunded ne. They couldn't activate it after taking my payment.

        • @puffinfresh: ah ok, yep

    • +26

I tried and received the usual thank you email from American Express

Taking one for the team!! YOU WIN!

      • you're a champ, thanks for comfirming

      • This guy = OzBargainer of the year.

      • Champion.

How long are the gift cards valid for?

        • Terms and conditions say 24 months.

      • What a legend. What other gift cards do they have?

      • +4

        Confirmed this works! purchased 1x $100 and 1 $200 :) thanks iBargain!

        • +2

FURTHER UPDATE , got the $100 credit today!

  • Wonder if HN will stock the Nintendo Switch…

    • Even if they did, I doubt there would be enough information to take preorders before this offer ends.

      • +1

You could pay for it using gift cards.

        • Exactly my thinking

    • Well, their website still shows exactly zero Nintendo products, so I guess that means they still haven't worked through their beef with Nintendo. Else they scored themselves a lifetime ban.

      http://www.tsumea.com/australasia/australia/news/071106/nint…

(Although I find it a bit cheeky that their Google Search results still shows "Playstation, Xbox, Wii U, etc.")

      • Looks like they have been selling Nintendo stock since then https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/125437

Still unsure of whether to risk it.

      • Most of the HN stores doesn't really stock much on gaming. Some of them still selling the PS4 Killzone for $99

  • -5

Wish they still have the 20% off deal so I can buy the 497$ vacumn.
    497 - 20% = 397$ - 100$ cashback Amex = 297$ is good deal :)

Can I still use the 2 x 25$ voucher for this ? Just asking …

    • +6

thats good guys - this is harvey norman

  • Harvey Norman
Spend $300 or more, get $100 back
    Valid until 20/12/2016
Save the offer to your Card and spend $300 or more, in one or more transactions, in-store or online at Harvey Norman by 30/12/16 to receive one $100 credit. Limited to the first 60,000 Cards to save the offer. Exclusions apply.

Two dates mentioned here - 20/12/16 and 30/12/16. Which one is it?

  • Works well with products that have cashback offers on at the moment as well. I just bought some Sennheiser Momentum 2.0's for $428, minus $100 Amex and minus $100 cashback which brings it down to $228 .. close to half price for awesome headphones!

I'm looking at a fridge that has $200 cash back, and I'll be able to split it over 5-6 cards (could do a 7th, but I don't have access to another one). Hopefully after a bit of haggling, I'll get the $2500 fridge for $1500.

      • Can you share a link of the fridge with Cashback? Thx

        • @puffinfresh: thanks. Let us know how you go with the price.

        • @moony: Now that I've seen they sell pre-paid visa gift cards, I might go with that option if my local has them. I can get last year's model fridge for $1800 at JB. No cashback, but I could buy 6x$300 prepaid visas at HN for $1835.70, with $600 credit from Amex for a $1235.70 fridge.

I need this specific fridge because of the space it needs to fit in. Only the Electrolux and Fisher & Paykel ~510L models fit. Well, as far as french door with water dispensers go.

Edit: If the prepaid cards are only available in $100 and $200, that adds another $35.70 in fees. So $1271.40 for the fridge.

        • @puffinfresh:
Ok, so you can put $300 on the gift cards, except the ones at my store had expired. They sold me one, then had to refund it. We'll see if I get that credit.

They offered $2200 on the fridge staight up without me haggling, less the $200 cash back, less potentially $700 in credits = $1300.

        • @puffinfresh:I know exactly what you mean.. Given the last batch just expired in October, I wonder if and when the new batch will arrive.

        • I still got the $100 credit

    manual link anyone?

How long do Amex usually take after a purchase to credit the cashback?

Would like to buy $300 of giftcards and see if it works ASAP.

    • +1

      Confirmation comes straight away
The actual credit takes around 5 days generally

      • Superb, thanks! Really starting to love American Express :D

        • Let us know if you get refund for egift card purchase.

  • Thanks OP, Harvey Norman online team is good, they did price match… + 100 cashback through Amex, awesome.

    • How does price matching usually work online? Do they send you a link to the item but the price matched price? Or do they refund you the difference?

      • They send you link on your email, which will be valid for 60 hours or something.

      • I was told I have to go into the shop to get the price match, didn't get any link with the new price.

  • I just made an order of a $200 gift card and a $100 gift card and got an email saying my order was in Review. Is this normal?

    • same here
probably standard for gift card purchases, dunno

    • If this is your first time purchasing gift cards from them using the particular card, then yes, should be normal. Apparently too much fraud around gift cards.

    • Just an update on my end: Got a call from Harvey Norman reviewing the purchase. Just verifying that it was me but they also asked if I was doing it for the AMEX offers. I said "yeah maybe, but also just preparing for Christmas" and he said that they 'may' be a limit on the number of gift cards you can purchase but he couldn't find one. If you do have too many gift card purchases, it will become reject at the checkout apparently.

      • I received my $200 and $100 egift cards - no problems.

        • +2

$100 Statement credit received today too.

    • Purchase a TV but put under review too

    • You're referring to an online gift card purchase right?

      • +1

Yeah. I've just gotten my e-gift cards. Now waiting for the transaction to properly go through so AMEX can credit it. I might buy the other ones in store next time to avoid the review process.

  • I can't see the Harvey offer in my card? is it gone?

    • Just register using manual link

  • Just looking at buying iphone using 2 separate transactions on 2 cards (assuming Apple exclusion is not triggered). Has anyone had any experience with credit card purchase protection insurance if the entire cost of the item is not paid on the one card?

    • I don't think it will be covered. You need to pay for the entire amount on the one card.

    • Dont know amex but coles and 28 degree do for the partial amount. You might need to call them

  • +1

Just purchased $300 HN gift card and received email from AMEX immediately after

    • Purchased online?

      • No, in store

  • I've got a supplementary card for the wife under my account, should i register each card manually for the offers or will supp cards be enrolled automatically ?

    • +1

      Manual enrolment for each card.

    • +1

Does the sup card have a different number? If yes, then will need to register separately. If no, then the offer will only apply once anyway between you.

      • Do you which AMEX cards will give a different card number to supps, therefore can get multiple offers on the same accounts? thanks
