      • Thank you.

    • Purchased egift cards online yesterday, $100 and $200, came through 6 hours later.

      • Thanks

  • Cleveland had sign…. Not sure if I got the dumbest hn employee ever….
Or he was acting super evasive..
Asked for visa card and said only sell hn gift cards.
    Asked for vpay."What's that?"
Could not find on machine…. Foxtel, Google…. Useless.

  • has anyone tried purchasing from HN Moore Park or Alexandria with any luck?

  • Are there any HN that sell prepaid visa or Vpay in Western Australia?

    • HN Cannington do. Tried Myaree before and they said they've stopped due to fraud lol

  • Tried at HN Garden City last night and no joy.

First it was "I don't think we sell the cards any more but we do have vouchers - hold on, I'll go check".

    Then

"Sorry, we don't even do vouchers any more."

Still got four cards to use this deal on. Serves me right for not just buying VPAYs with all of them the first time - but I lacked faith ! ;)

    • I believed HN Garden City do have VPay vouchers, but they are not willing to sell. Some of the staff are just JEALOUS because we receive the cash back from Amex. You can try to buy HN gift card online, try to split to 2 amounts. The catch is you have to spend at HN.

      • We need to complain to ACCC and amex about the dodgy work of Harvey's Norman's!

    • You are too late and missed out the plastic cards. I bought 5 there no problem.

      • I'm not after plastic cards I'm after VPAY vouchers that get spat out of the the EFTPOS terminals.

Tried at HN Oxley today and got some bullshit (after being asked "how are you paying" and "specifically which credit card") about how the manager had told them "customers can't use credit to buy credit".

        • yes agree, did you ask what about a visa card? Let see how they answer "customers can't use credit to buy credit", totally BS.

use this form to make a complaint to Amex: www.americanexpress.com.au/cardacceptance

        • They do not understand the concept of prepaid visa card do they?

          Typical dumb old school manager.

Get out of the 20th century you anti competition company

  • Drove from Western suburbs in 37degrees, mobile speed cameras and got 2x $300 vpay vouchers via 2 cards….. Signs on one counter…. Non on opposite…Not even concern on processing. No visa gift cards though.
Now to see if I get the magic emails after drive home…. $11 out lay…..

    • ^Emails arrived ;

      • Cashback arrived?

        • of course they did

        • @Turd:

Mine isn't appearing yet - must be the holidays. Bought on the 23rd. Of course, never had any issue for previous deals.

  • I purchased a Sonos Play 1 today plus additional eGift cards to bring me over $300. Worked fine and got the Amex email. HN sales reviewed order and eGift vouchers received in inbox.

  • +1

anyone had success with harvey norman splitting payments on multiple cards?

  • So any HN around south east brisbane you could buy vpay card? I see Garden city and oxley have no luck.

  • can this only be used once per card?

    • Unfortunately yes :(
Imagine if u were able to buy unlimited gift cards = 32% off bills, grocery etc

      • Yeah i guess so… we bought the dyson over a month ago would have been good to use for the tv :(

        • +1

If it's a tv, then maybe wait for the inevitable 20% off good guys/bing Lee eBay promotion since it'll offer a better discount if you spend more than 1k.

  • This is interesting. Bought two lots of $300 ecards on two Amex cards. They cancelled both orders then when I queried I received this :

Harvey Norman Online endeavours to provide a safe online environment for our customers by implementing routine checks for orders. This is to ensure that no purchase is made without the card holder’s authorization.

All we have done is placed a small refund onto your credit card between 0.00 - $1.00, If you could please advise us what the exact amount refunded onto your card is this will assist us in verifying your purchase and ensure swift delivery!

Please note if you are trying to claim the $100 Amex cashback promo they are no longer facilitating the offer and it does not apply to eCards, this means alternatively we can cancel and refund your orders in full.

Surely if I proceed, Amex still won't know what I've ordered?

    • Correct. Proceed and get the credits!

Harvey Norman management clearly do not understand how amex statement credits work. It is not a cash back scheme like they have with most of their distributor offers.

    • @digitalane, did you end up getting the eGiftcards?

      • Its very odd - they said they would refund a small amount to my Amex and I had to confirm - that hadn't come through yesterday but has now. However on both cards HN have charged me the $300 and I've already got the $100 credit twice showing on my online Amex account. So i'm tempted to just say cancel order and refund both amounts…..

        • Hi did you cancel in the end? I think if you do, Amex would also take back the $100 credit from your account.

        • @Jared17:

I kept them in the end. Am not sure they would they as it would just appear as a refund

        • @digitalane: they do take it back. Had an item refunded due to out of stock and the cashback was removed a couple of days later.

        • @digitalane:
I see. Good to know you kept the egift cards and the credit was applied. Pretty sure if you asked for refund from HN, it would trigger Amex to take back the credit.

        • @unco: yeah I would expect them to do that. Sorry to hear that. Hope you got something else.

        • +1

@Jared17: all good, it was with the recent Sunglass Hut offer. They sent me a $100 gift card as an apology for it being out of stock. Waited a week and they were back in stock AND discounted even more for Boxing Day.
Burberry sunnies for $90 effectively so couldn't be happier!

  • Anyone know if any HN that sell prepaid visa in Victoria?

    • Your mile varies, best to go to your nearest HN and buy/see if they have em and report back your experience

  • Went to broadway HN yesterday to buy giftcards but cashier with a shitty attitude asked me if I'm paying by Amex. I said yes and she just outright refused to sell and said manager orders to prevent people from making use of Amex deal to buy giftcards which was against the t and c. I said Amex was my only CC but she still said no.

Went to check the iPads section but was hovering for more than 10 mins and no one bothered to ask if I needed help. Went to another section to get help but she said someone in that iPad section wil help you.

In the end I just left. What a dreadful branch. Shame as I live 10 mins away and a couple years ago when I bought stuff from them they were great. Now I'm not gonna bother with this branch in the future. Will check out the supa centa branch in the next few days to try my luck.

    • Go back in the new year and do the same and you will find that they will allow it.

Did you ask them if it was ok with visa or MasterCard? If so why are they targeting amex users? Isn't it anti competitive.

Call accc and amex, regardless of credits they shud allow it. How are you supposed to pay with cash only?

What a bunch of male and female genitals

      • No I didn't unfortunately as I really only had my Amex to use. I ask why not Amex she just replied manager orders as people tried to use Amex deal to buy giftcards which was against t and c. At that time I was stupid and thought fair enough, and I didn't feel like arguing with her as there were people waiting behind me to pay for their stuff.

Upon returning home and rethinking, I then realized afaik, t and c only mention Amex cash back will not be made for gift cards purchase but doesn't mean its against any rule to pay for HN giftcards using Amex. Why should that HN store care if I use Amex to pay or not? Doesn't make sense.

        • Only reason is fraud. Most likely that person who got arrested at Prymont used stolen cc's and obtained vpay at HN.

And because management are lazy due to xmas holidays they cant be bothered to check up on fraud cases thus they just say 'no amex'.

          Thus it is stupid.

There is another spend $300 at HN and get back $50 offer on right now to targeted people.

I wonder if HN will allow amex since the "promo" will be ended. LOL

        • @Turd: ok i see. if it's fraud they are afraid of , I hope they are banning visa and mastercard too.

Kinda shitty of them to mention the t and c to me as excuse to why Anex isn't allowed. I didn't realize it at that time but at home upon reflecting what she said. It's pure BS the reason was the Amex t and c.

Use this form to make a complaint to Amex: www.americanexpress.com.au/cardacceptance

Next time, load your Amex card onto your Apply Pay or Android wallets and pay for the gift card using your phone, believe me, some staffs at HN don't even know how to use Apple Pay or Android Pay although they are selling electrical products.

      • Yep thx. I will complaint as soon as the promo is over.

I did try to use my apple pay though. But she still asked if I was using Amex. Guess the words giftcards and $300 gave it away lol. Come to think of it I could have lied and said im using visa but she might have ask to see the screen of my iPhone. That would be awkward lol

  • Hi everyone: with the HN credit, is it by the end of Friday 30/12, or really the end of Thursday 29/12 that it expires?

    • There are two deals.

One for everyone Spend $300 get back $100 - Ends 31st Dec
The other one one is Spend $300 and get back $50 - Ends March 31st 2017 this is targeted to select amex users.

      • +1

Thanks - but doesn't it say 30th Dec?
My question was also when on 30th it expires, at the beginning (i.e. it's already expired now) or at the end of the day?

Edit: NVM, checked Amex Connect, clearly says expires today, so it looks like it's end of day

        • Yep it still says "Expiring Soon" instead of expired.
I'm about to head out and purchase something so I can let you know if I receive the successful email in about 45 mins if you like.

        • @unco:

Thanks, but I just got back and it worked for me

        • @madpig83: awesome, just got back and I got the email straight away too.
Didn't anticipate it would take 25 mins just to have a salesperson free to help me!

  • +2

Went to Wiley Park. Cashier informed me that they cannot sell gift cards if you are using credit card as payment.

Reason was "This would be the same as using credit to purchase cash". I don't agree that gift cards are treated as cash. I can't pay for my fuel/groceries with the HN Gift Card.

    • +1

@Piquant "This would be the same as using credit to purchase cash"

Damn tools theses people are. Have they not heard of cash advance using a credit card?

    • If they don't want to sell, just frankly tell the customer that we don't want to sell the gift card to you, full stop. Why they keep telling BS things to the customers.

HN will be the new DickSmith soon.

Just bought three VPAYs at HN Fortitude Valley in Brisbane. Girl behind the counter didn't even blink. Emails received immediately.

    • I can confirm this also.

  • Called HN Auburn and was told Amex should be fine to pay for HN GC. Went to the store and was referred to notice that amex card not acceptable until 31st dec.
I argued why I told wrong on phone and had to drive all the way to the store. Girl went to see her manager and said she will give 1 card for this time only. :)

  • Last minute heads up, harvey norman castle hill in sydney is good to go, no question asks. Got vpay on thursday 29/12.

  • Got last 7 visa prepaid cards from HN Moore park today

They were a bit difficult at the start but the manager eventually agreed .

    Thanks OP again

  • edit.

  • Are you able to use multiple gift cards for online purchases?

  • Bought something in store at HN on the 29th, got the email confirming my spend but now in the Amex app it shows the offer as Expired instead of Redeemed? A bit worried now since it was an Apple product.

    • +1

Mine says expired instead of redeemed too.
Bought an eligible product yesterday and got the successful email.

      • +3

Should change when you get the credit if you got the email dont stress

      • Thanks!

  • All HN gift card purchases where cancelled for me :(

    • Bought in-store or online? And when did you purchase them?

      • Online got them yesterday although all gift cards where denied no mention of refund yet

        • same situation here…bought 2 egift cards on 29th Dec, both been declined but no refund yet…~>.<~

  • as expected, got cashback on all my visa prepaid cards i bought from HN instore.

Thanks amex for the free $700 - $42 activation fees

Now to buy 5% off woolworths wish gift cards and make further savings when woolies has specials on gift cards

    Cheers

  • +1

For anyone that purchased online gift cards from HN and there orders where cancelled check your CC as they took $600 from me and did nog refund any of it.

    • dispute it with your cc

      • I only realised it today have no contacted HN about it although dodgy practice if you ask me

        • +2

I bet the person who was dealing with "refunds" was away on holidays due to the xmas period and she/he didnt train tell someone how to do/process it, and or the people there just didnt want to do the work of the refund process and just thus left it for that person to process it.

work ethic of harvey normans 101
