690

Starts today, half price or less on the whole Quorn frozen range 200g-312g. Haven't been quite this cheap for a while now. Had the 'sausage rolls' and schnitzels and quite liked them. Needless to say these are all vegetarian:

Today the shushi lady's gonna make us shushi sandwiches. That's a spicy guacamol!

    • Thanks I fixed up the wording, Coles didn't include spinach or cheese in their title.

Yes! I'm not even vegan/vegetarian but I really like their cheese and spinach Schnitzels.

Always been a bit suss of the Quorn brand due to it being made from somewhat non-specigic fungus or mould.
"Quorn is made from the soil mould Fusarium venenatum strain PTA-2684 (previously misidentified as the parasitic mould Fusarium graminearum[32]). The fungus is grown in continually oxygenated water in large, otherwise sterile fermentation tanks"
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quorn
But unfortunately have to eat it at the moment due to Mrs TA having a vegetarian phase

Many people have significant allergic reactions to quorn. So your'suss thoughts' about it are not misplaced…

    • Sounds fairly specific to me

      • Yes. I should say "vague" as I only have a vague idea of what fermentation bred fungus/mould as food might be ;p

LOVE quorn stuff, I wouldn't call myself a vego. I actually like some of their products more than meat, even though I occasionally eat meat still.

The "pieces" are perfect for asian/curry. Buying them up. The mince… doesn't work.

Depends what you do with it. I used it for bolognaise and it just didn't work. Now I use it almost exclusively for Pad Krapow…. Chop up some garlic and fresh chillies, heat in wok with peanut oil. Add quorn mince, 2 tbsp fish sauce or alternative and 1 tsp sugar. Add 1 cup Thai/holy basil for 1 min. Serve on rice with a shallow fried egg. It's delicious and easy.

  • Unfortunately it give me a burning stomach a couple of hours whenever I have eaten otherwise I like the taste.

Thank you op. Time to stock up.

  • Last time on special a few weeks ago I bought heaps and liked them all. They look a bit 'extruded', but taste OK.

If a sudden bunch of pulses and grains upsets the tummy, maybe eat just a small amount at a time. Some people has sensitive guts.
