I dunno the code just didn't seem to work for me at all.

Tried the pi said it applied but when I went to checkout it was trying to charge me full price.

Same goes with the TV box.

  • +10

I've applied the voucher for $10 phone
paypal showed $10 USD but when I actually paid, they charged me full price

    It's a lie.
    Never again Gearbest

    • +1

It happened to me too. Whoever got the phone please come forward so we can tell whether the deal actually exists.

  • +9

    Never again Gearbest

    • +2

Same issue here. Actually I blame Paypal also. If I authorize $14 payment. WHY DO THEY PROCESS A $60 PAYMENT?!

    • happened to me too - tried to get the Nitecore MT2A - LED Flashlight and everything on their website showed it's confirmed USD10 worked out to be roughly AUD13 but then in my email in box, it's charged the full amount.

already emailed them and waiting for reply.

    • +4

Well, I should have listened to lots of ozbargainers who have had Bad experience with GEARBEST.
I think GEARBEST should be banned permanently………..

  • +1

I thought the coupon would be at the top, and it took me 8 minutes to find the coupon was actually in the table…….

  • Lost because I had to add mobile number, which I had added to my account but Gearbest had to mess it up by getting details from my paypal account which is different from what I saved on gearbest. Also Then at last page price changed, when we agreed through paypal to pay only $10 why did it change on last page?

  • +2

Phone codes not even active yet.

EDIT: 09:15 (12:15 AEDT) and the phone codes still say "Coupon can only be used from 2016-11-21 to 2016-12-18".

    Clickbait?

    • The Zenfone and Blackview phones start at 4 and 8PM.

      • Aaah! My Bad! Totally missed those times on the left. cheers! Probably won't bother though.

  • +3

Tried a code for the Pi and it said it wasn't active. Tried again and got told that they're all used up. This is why I never bother with these deals.

  • +14

That was a competition, not a deal.

  • +3

Damn, tried ordered a Rasberry Pi and got charged full price ):

    • Worst than that, the item was on flash sale for $49.05 but after put the code it become $61.64

      • +1

Messaged the Rep, hoping for a refund. Otherwise Paypal dispute.

  • +1

So who "won" the phone ? =) I didn't see the price change so I must be too slow…1-2s wasn't enough

  • -6

was on at 12.00pm and missed out on the Inear headphones and the microSD, disappointing!

    • Read the table again. Those go live at 4 and 8pm aedt.

    • Missed out? You're like 4 & 8 hours early.

  • Yay, got the torch! Reviews look good, and it seems powerful.

I had a dozen tabs auto-refreshing for the phone, but I forgot to click apply after entering the dang coupon. Whoops!

    • I had a dozen tabs auto-refreshing

      Hm… wonder why ozbargain crashed…

      • +2

        see bots

  • Was only able to get the dashcam to work with the voucher due to all you ozbargain snipers! :P But didn't purchase.

  • +2

The code applied for me but by the time I got to check out the price went back up to $49. What a joke

  • +3

So, yeah, right. Got the code for the phone, pasted in, 'This coupon code can only be used 21/11/2016 to 18/12/2016'. Happened 6 times after clearing and trying, then 'code for single use only' with no effect

Soooooo, basically too bad. I don't mind the 'code for single use only' message, but the other one was very annoying. I can read calendars.

Why am I reminded of that Jeep Remote Dealership fiasco?

  • +4

I got the torch and managed to make another order and also scored the TV box, thanks Gearbest keep the deals coming!

    • You're a brave soul admitting you got two of the deals when many seem to have got none. I got a Pi and a torch ;)

    • I got the torch as well but not the Pi as I did not dare to think that there was enough time to make 2nd orders. Very quick hand adr8 :)

      Thanks Gearbest

  • +1

Who won the damn phone lol. Show yourself.

    • +1

Repeatedly tried Elephone code before 12

How'd you get the code before 12? I refreshed at 11:59 and it still wasn't posted…

    • Repeatedly tried Elephone code before 12

How'd you get the code before 12? I refreshed at 11:59 and it still wasn't posted…

  • +5

Got the watch. Thank you. Interestingly it was OzB site crashing not Gearbest

    • +6

      So this has;
      - crashed ozbargain
      - generated lots of mixed hype
      - generated a lot of discounted, full price and even inflated sales
      - dispointed customers
      - extra after sales service to cancel orders

  • +3

Same here. Applied code for phone. Showed $10USD then changed to full price at the end of Paypal checkout. Pretty disappointing tbh

  • +2

Yep, like most others applied code to Pi subtotal showed $10, checkout with PayPal & final price back to normal….ahh good ol' GearBust!

  • +5

massive scam. Got through the paypal stage, confirmed at $13 and then it wants full price. And now i am receiving emails saying i brought other items at full price.

Never again gear best. Never again

    • +2

      yep, happened to me too.

This is a controversial deal as is, and with GearBest's word being shoddy again:

Mod: For anyone purchasing any of the below items, you do not have to complete checkout to get the item at the coupon price. If you add the item to your cart, apply the coupon code, and then follow the rest of the checkout process, you can pause at the point of payment (Paypal?)

Good luck regaining your standing with the community, I know I'm going elsewhere from now…

    • Thats not gearbest's wording. It clearly says "Mod:", as in ozbargain site moderator.

      • +3

Doesn't make it any better mate. I appreciate OzBargain Mods working with vendors to get the community the best deals - but if mods (who get their info from GearBest, where else?) guarantee that orders are locked in once they get to PayPal and then this doesn't happen, it feels like being cheated.

  • 2 month partial refund + 2 month delivery time.

  • +2

applied the coupon for the tv box went to checkout then pay with paypal noticed full price so did not continue. so many people in the same boat, we nearly all predicted it.

  • +5

Convenient how, even though I've ordered from Gearbest before, it suddenly decided I had to "activate" my account riiiiight when this deal went live.

Also convenient how there's so few items nobody can actually buy them. At those quantities this is a promotion/competition/scam, not a deal.

    • Yeah I had the activate thing too! and I had only made and activated the account 10 minutes prior in preparation

      • +3

I had even ordered using that account before. Maybe it's because I'd reset my password?

Either way, with these quantities it doesn't really qualify as a deal.

        • Yeah I'm not sure. Good to know it wasn't just me thinking it was weird.
I didn't try for the popular items but am happy that I secured the $10 watch

  • +13

Mod: For anyone purchasing any of the below items, you do not have to complete checkout to get the item at the coupon price. If you add the item to your cart, apply the coupon code, and then follow the rest of the checkout process, you can pause at the point of payment (Paypal?). Confirm the Paypal amount or check your email or GearBest account after this to confirm whether you received the item at the $10 price. Times are also AEDT just to clarify that.

Paypal page confirmed I got the item for $10 but after that, there are two pages, the first page had to reconfirm my address and phone number and then the other page where back to GearBest to place the order. In the last page, the price changed!

I don't understand how OzB support this act? this totally unprofessional.

    • +2

I don't know why companies think it's a good idea to do these sales. It always backfires.

    • Same. paypal said $14

  • +2

Yep, $13.34 on Gearbest site for the Pi and tried to charge $61 on Paypal. Ridiculous.

  • +2

Had to get in quick guys!

Thanks GearBest, $13 RPi headed my way!

    • Go team!

    • +3

Actually applying the code quick enough was not the problem for most. By the time we got through the PayPal process the price went back up to $49. Having 2 way verification didn't help. I hope GearBest business suffers from this deceptive deal.

      • Yeah I had to fly through checkout, given the warnings I was sure I'd suffer the same fate!

But yeah TFA might not have helped that one :(

  • +4

    Epic Fail.

  • Same with the phone, $13 on gearbest site but when going through paypal full price. Guess I gotta be quicker!

  • +2

I scored raspberry pi for $13.37, used PayPal.
Double checked my account and has the right charge!

  • +3

So besides emailing Gearbest. Do we also lodge a paypal dispute?

    • +2

I will if I don't get an email back within an hour.

      "Priority" better mean priority.

  • NONE OF THE CODES FOR TODAY ARE WORKING!!!!!!

  • got the watch, didn't bother trying any of the others because I knew it'd be probably impossible to get without running out

    • Got an SQ8 after trying the other codes (except for the watch).

SQ8 code lasted at least 11 minutes :)

  • +1

Yea I thought it was supposed to have applied once you went through checkout. Coupon applied and went through paypal checkout all looking good, confirmed the charge in paypal and then when it redirected me back to GB it was full price again….

  • got the SQ8 camera and the watch. Be careful the shipping switches back to the paid shipping once u confirm the address.

Waiting to hear back from priority support to change the shipping back before I pay for the watch

  • +6

shocking. my friend just called me, he had a program that was monitoring the codes 3 times a second. as soon as the code appeared, it copied it to his clipboard and he just pasted it in and clicked appyl copon. this happened within 1.5 seconds of the post being updated. i dont believe anyone could have beat that, yet he says he got charged full price for the phone even though it showed $10.

i told my friend to tone it down ofc since ozb seems unstable and thats prob against the rules

but as expected, gearbest is dodgy as hell. raspberry pis were all gone in like 5 seconds

    • +17

I'm glad your friend had a bad experience :)

    • +2

I told you this would happen.

    • +8

The codes were up even before 12pm so they weren't active yet. Your "friends" program was useless. Allocating 20 codes is practically instant so it can happen in a second.

I don't understand why people are butt hurt over this, if you didn't get allocated a code then get over it and try again at 4.

      • ha yep

    • Your friend WAS beaten. See below

    • That's what you get for trying to beat the system :P

    • Your "friend" might be pulling your leg - I managed to get a Pi and a torch without any scripts. The vagaries of Australian internet is probably the biggest factor.

    • "he had a program that was monitoring the codes 3 times a second. as soon as the code appeared, it copied it to his clipboard and he just pasted it in and clicked appyl copon. this happened within 1.5 seconds of the post being updated"

      Him and 20 others.

      • and they are probably the reason the site crashed.

  • Tried the PI, was sold out basically instantly. Got the TV box tho.

  • +5

How is Gearbest even allowed here? dodgiest pr*cks since DSE

  • Got the Raspberry Pi. No scripts or automation. Keen to build a Retropie machine!

  • Raspberry Pi Model 3 B Motherboard Size:CHINESE VERSION
    Color:GREEN 177144201 1 $46.10
    Subtotal $46.10
    Shipping & Handling $1.85
    Grand Total $11.85

Yep if I missed out I wouuld be pissed and would also have declared

Damn Ozbargainers should be banned from going for these limited deals
    😃

  • Similar experience - applied the code for the Pi to give the discounted price ($13) - went to Paypal and it was back to full price ($50) - cancelled at this stage - checked my email and found a Gearbest order for the Pi at $38 - what a crock of sh*t

  • +11

    wasteoftime

  • +9

Going to have to neg as well for the dodgy practices. The price changing on the confirmation screen is plain wrong - why can't the payment be processed when we log into paypal.

This kind of post shouldn't be allowed: yes, the Pi is a great deal, and so are the phones, but I have no doubt Gearbest will recoup the costs after all the full ticket prices that got charged on the confirmation screen…

The watch is the only item here which is obtainable, but for $10 it isn't a bargain!

Ridiculous. I have purchased from GB in the past but am waiting for my order. I certainly know I won't trust them and will immediately raise a paypal dispute if my item isn't received within time frames.

    • +1

Other people got deals though, it was available - you just weren't lightning-fingered like some of us!

      • +3

I was on the checkout page after paypal within 10 seconds of the coupon going live, but then GB needed me to confirm my address - again - and by the time I clicked the "Queensland" option, the confirmation page tried to charge me $60.

        What a load of crap.

I'd be surprised if this whole checkout system wasn't explicitly DESIGNED to overcharge people who are too fast and don't read the confirmation.

        • +2

Potentially. There was a big, bold warning on the page though, which was enough to ensured I double-checked my total; but yes, it shouldn't be possible - it should decline the click-through to PaypPal and tell you your code expired.

        • +2

@picklewizard: … but! Congrats on getting something - nothing wrong with the community reaping benefits! I just hope Ozbargain learns from this and discourages dodgy practices.

A Current Affair would be up in arms if an Australian store had the same practices about GB!

        • @urzu:

Yeah but ACA are scumbags so who cares what they think

  • +19

Can we go back to banning them again please?

    • They can have another year to think of another stupid sale to get them unbanned lol

  • +1

I got the MiniDvr and Watch in 2 separate transactions (12:01 and 12:05). I had to add my address and phone number before placing the first order. My paypal account confirms 2 transactions for 13.37. I didn't try for any of the lower quantity items.

  • +5
  • Managed to snag a watch for 13.37AUD.
I went for the 2nd paypal option, the one that had all the card images instead of just the paypal logo.
EDIT: Instead of Pay with PayPal, I went with the other checkout stream.

Will try get some other things later on in the day, but looking at the experiences here, I hope I don't get stung with the original price

  • +1

Quantity of one?! What a joke.

First world problem I guess folks!

    • +3

nothing wrong with not offering it at all… :) but all this complicated checkout procedure etc made it even more pointless.

  • The amount of negativity is astounding. I really don't understand the mentality of some people.

Gearbest has made available to our community a set of deals. If you managed to grab one then good for you, if not then better luck next time!
If you paid full price then it's on you. The confirmation screen makes it clear the price you will pay and your paypal will not be deducted until you confirm the purchase.

I think a lot of people fail to understand that codes can be allocated instantly. If you are in the first pool of code allocations then you got lucky.

Why negate this deal just because you missed out? Sheesh.

    • +5

The codes were definitely not allocated instantly - that is why many people are unhappy, not because they missed out, but because they managed to apply the code, get to the final stage of checkout (past Paypal, which confirmed the US$10 order), only to have the price changed at the last step.

      • +1

See the reps post below. All PI's were sold in 1 second.

My point is 20 codes is not much so don't be upset if you missed out.

    • +2

      |Gearbest has made available to our community a set of deals. If you managed to grab one then good for you, if not then better luck next time!

      You mean a lucky dip?

    • +1

I'm actually more annoyed at PayPal, not GB. If I approve a payment for $14. DO NOT PROCESS $60!

If I was GB, I would have done 10 phones at $10 to be within the guidelines, not a few of this and that.
