The new model FJ is an upgrade on the old model FI which is a great little reel. The FJ has an upgraded bail arm and tapered spool to reduce friction for casting and new colours but not much else. The old reel would be the best buy.

  Symetre is a great reel for the price. I have a 2500 and use it for soft body lure fishing (although it is an FJ and probably the one in this deal is an FL) and its my favourite reel (I also have a Saros 4000 and a Sienna 4000 and some larger Penns). Nice and light - although its been discontinued so hence the discounts I guess.

  Of course, my fishing tends to be far far more cast and wind than actually catching; even then we are talking mostly flatties, bream and salmon - so whether or not its up to an actual big fish, who knows

  Agreed even though its discontinued Shimano's 10 Year warranty will still hold. I used to work at BCF and trust me there isn't much of an upgrade.
