[PRICE ERROR] David Jones Lifestyle Canvas Duffle Bag Navy $0.07 @ David Jones - C&C Only

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Reduced to $0.07 with the current 25% sale (was $0.10)

Plenty of stock available in VIC and other states. Alternatively you can get it delivered for an extra $10.

There is also a Christmas Gift Box for $0.01 (basically $0.00 with the 25% sale) http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/ProductDisplay?catalogId=1…

Note: If you receive 'inventory error' its due to the site being hammered. There is still stock left so keep trying, you'll be able to add item to cart and checkout after some time.
Also, I think the orders will be honoured as they honoured the deal I posted a while ago for the Ultralieve bag for $1

Update: 10:42 PM - seems some people have been successful in adding to cart using IE and PayPal with C&C…

Pretty sure I was one of the first to order.

        • let me see how long it takes to cancel mine at 10:30pm

  • +1

Just got an email saying order cancelled and asking me to come in to customer service to get a refund.

  • Just received:

Thank you for placing your click and collect order with David Jones Marion.
Unfortunately we are unable to fill your order at this time. Per our terms and conditions of use; whilst we try and ensure that all details, descriptions and prices which appear on this website are accurate, errors may occur and this may result in us having to refund your purchase.
Please contact us on 8405 5316 or visit us in store at the Customer Service Office on level 1 to arrange a refund for that item.

    We apologise for the inconvenience.

    • +2

That's ridiculous, why do we have to go into the store for a refund. Surely if you paid by credit card, they can process the refund directly? Not sure about those that paid with PayPal…

      • +1

Because DJs don't have your full credit card number, hence why you need to contact them.

        • +1

Is this a David jones thing? I have had other shops refund to my credit card directly before for a click and collect order they could not fulfill?

        • +2

@kelea: Not all shops share the same payment system. Some can refund to your credit card directly. Others, like DJs, cannot. Customer Services can process your refund over the phone so no need to come in store to get your refund.

      • Sorry for the phone auto correct typos - just tried editing but doesn't seem to work. Meant to read 'go into store for a refund'…

      • +3

I'll just be doing a PayPal dispute.

      • +2

because they don't want to spend time processing all the refunds manually,
so they are hoping buyers won't be bothered visiting the store for 7c.

        • Any OZbargainers on media? This will be headlines at 6pm NEWS :)

        • +3

  • +11

We just got out oz bargained by David Jones… who the hell could be stuffed going in for a refund of 10cents or up to a couple of dollars… I wonder how much money they will make off this.

    • They never refunded me for the hats. Bought a couple of $1 items too.

    • I thought the same thing. I'm not going into store for a refund.

    • +12

Few hundred PayPal claims should teach them a lesson.

      • +3

I was thinking the same (I paid by PayPal). So if (as expected) DJs email/call to explain inability to fill the order but only offer a refund "in store", can we open a dispute via PayPal?

        • +3

You shouldn't need to call! They should just issue the refund. Their IT must be a mess.

      • +2

Even a chargeback would do the job. It cost the retailer money for each chargeback that is lodged with the bank.

    • +2

yeah seems they got the last laugh getting free cents from lazy ozbargainers not bothering with refunds. So noone even got one bag? or DJ staff just keeping it for themselves?

      • Almost looks like a reverse scam. Everyone pays me a few cents which is an amount they won't miss, but it adds up to a lot for me.

The phone call would not be worth it for a 7c refund, forget about the petrol of going there.

    • +3

I wonder how much money they will make off this.

With 48,000 clicks and most people ordering more than 1, and only giving a refund if you go to them in store, I reckon they made at least $10,000 from us OzBargainers. Well played, David Jones.

      • This is costing them money to fix up lol. I doubt they will be making any money from this stuff up.

    • [#hashtag]sevencentdavidjonesdufflebagscam

  • +3

its gonna be a busy day for David Joners :)) call ppl back and processing the refund

    • +1

hallejujah! finally a neg vote! :D

  • +3

Seems like DJ is having the last laugh… They will be keeping your money unless you bother to in-store or call them.

Very hopeless payment system to be honest.

    • +2

Why can't you just open up a PayPal dispute?

      • Why can't you just open up a PayPal dispute?

Mmmm, maybe because I didn't place the order. lol

    • -1

Similar as previous mistaken: people bought lots of tickets from Virgin at the ridiculous prices.

Just wonder how many people have been honoured for those tickets.

According to Virgin Australia, it would honour the tickets of the lucky few who managed to book flights at the

      ridiculous prices.

  • +2

DJs just called me and did the CC refund over the phone.

David Jones - We are Hiring

We are looking for a passionate full time employee to make few thousand phone calls and processing refunds on thousands of credit cards.

PayPal case opened for 8c #It'sThePrinciple

  • +4

this could be the deal that everyone (and DJ) will remember…. asking people to come to collect <$1 refund after made mistake? classic australian store ethics…

  • +1

By the way, IBM implemented their online retail store. Yes, our "friends" from the census:

    • +8

Retailers should really hire OzBargain to volume test their sites.
We take payment in terms of good deals.

    • And the QLD Health Payroll (for Southerns, Google it, it makes it even more shocking the federal government trusted them).

  • +3

DJ's needs a big overhaul on their website. Their deals are crap these days, and then when you find a bargain like this they can't fulfill a single order. Just a waste of everyones time and money..

I use to get real bargains there 5+ years ago but they must have changed management or something because it is crap now..

  • +1

    oh damn! i missed…..
not that i missed the bag, but i missed the thrills and excitements!

  • +3

Forget skimming fractions of cents from a banking system, just plain taking 7c per user is much better and legal.

  • +3

I think the next best thing DJ can do with this situation is to donate all the money received from us to a charity (with our permission of course.)

There were close to 40000 clicks and lets say half of us managed to snag a bag.

    20,000 x 0.07 = $1400.

I mean I know its a minute amount but I would rather that money go somewhere else useful apart than DJs.

And also I doubt 20000 people would even bother going for a refund too hence easy money in their pocket.

    • +1

I'd be on board with that

I'd actually prefer to see David jones match the combined purchase through their error give the bags they have throw in a towel, sunscreen refillable water bottle toiletries and a few other thing that would be of help to the unfortunate / homeless through the summer

Considering the bag was 50$ I don't think a charitable gesture is out of the question

And they can even claim it as a tax deduction as a donation if memory serves

      • +1

  • +13

    IMPORTANT: BEWARE of CC SCAMMERS:
Dont know how, but dont provide your credit card to anyone called you, unless u r sure they give you exact number of items you bought, time and collection venue.

This is a good opportunity for scammers.

      Just got the same email.

The part I find odd is that they cc'd everyone rather than BCC, so I can effectively get everyone's email that put in an order.

Not sure I really wanted my email address sent out to hundreds of people.

There is a nice little email conversation that is continuing with all of the people CC'd and the DJ rep :)

        • +2

Yea I'm reading through it at the moment! I am also supposed to be receiving a call from their customer relations team tomorrow regarding the privacy breach.

        • @teninchdk: The privacy breach is going to be interesting to see.

        • +1

Would love to read this (with emails removed obviously). Not sure why I didn't receive an email (or phone call [or anything]) from them.

    • Received this from the David Jones customer services office in relation to the breach of privacy..wheres my compensation in the form of a duffle bag DJ?

kJust went to macquarie centre. they have heaps of bags on the rack, free with spend of $75+. Dont see why they cant just honour the orders..

    • Did you place an order for pickup there too? I did but haven't gone there nor getting any email.

      • yep. dont have any hope of getting it though.

  • Ah damn I missed a call earlier today from an 03 999 xxxx number, may have been DJ's.

With paypal we're protected thought right? Will a paypal dispute sort it out if no refund? Or do they have to call every single one of us to refund.

Wouldve thought just reversing every bag purchase would be the easiest option

    • +3

A little message appeared on the PayPal payment screen claiming they can only refund PayPal purchases with Gift Cards. Complete rubbish and almost certain in breach of PayPal's T&Cs. Raise a dispute now. I understand not honoring this price, but that doesn't excuse their handling of the situation.

  • My first order, for which I received a confirmation email, has been cancelled in my order list in David Jones account (though they still haven't contacted me for the cancellation). But the second one that I made couple of hours after that (to pick up from a different store) isn't even showing up in my account, and I didn't get a confirmation email from them for that either.

  • Do you guys remember this? What happen due to a pricing error?
    http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/opinion/public-defende…

May be DJ should refund at least $1 per purchase :)

    • "The David Jones Lifestyle Canvas Duffle Bag Gift With Purchase has been available for purchase online in error from Saturday 26 November"

I did not purchase the Lifestyle Canvas Duffle Bag Gift With Purchase but the non-gift-with-purchase item as stated :)

    • +1

      Oh well, shit happens. Lol

  • the order i placed just then as the items were still in my cart has been cancelled.

    still no communications from dj.

  • I have got a confirmation email, ordered 1 yesterday, I guess, next is cancellation email

  • Anyone tried take the printed order receipt in store and just ask for it?

    • yes, we went to Macquarie centre, the lady apologized and said that its just the figure they have to use when scanning for the promotion, i think spend 70+ get the bag free… asked if wanted refund and did it on the spot.

  • +3

I think we should all apply for a PayPal refund. DJ must be punished for conning customers to go for a refund in store.
(Giving my credit card details to a random guy who called me to give a 7 cents refund is ridiculous and is not an option!)

  • Lovely lady called and refunded over the phone, has already hit my account. This was Toowong QLD. Definitely OzBargained - when I asked she said they'd received over 100 duffle bag orders hahaha

  • +16

Took my order confirmation in to DJ's this morning, they had at least 70 forms on the counter and said they were not honoring any of them.
As I left I turned around and the girls behind the counter were having a great laugh, went back and got their names LOL, this is typical of the DJ's service they don't give a rats *^!.
Will get my 10c back through PayPal or AMEX.

    • +7

Yeah, good on you. Send the manager a nastygram. It is a matter of ethic. David jones is the one having the last laugh, conning all these people and then not honoring and keeping a large chunk of the money.

      • -7

        Lol @ conning

Anyone with half a brain knew this was a price error. When is the last time you saw something offered for $0.10 ffs? Can't even buy a Freddo for that sort of money.

DJs won't care, instead it's the reverse. Anyone on here who expected to receive it, or doesn't just laugh off the fact that it wasn't honoured is just ignorant. And in return, 'we' as a collective site/group are brought into the mess, ruining everyone's reputation.

It was a pricing error, get over it (and yourselves) and move on.

        • You pay the price for the mistake you made, what's wrong with that?

        • +4

          [#hashtag] sevencentdavidjonesdufflebagscam

        • +1

So many butthurt people downvoting the ones who are simply informing them of common sense.

Come on guys. It wasn't going to get honored. 7 cents for a bag? Even if they were clearing them out they wouldn't have to set it that low.

        • +2

          @lostn:

Try reading. Most of the butthurt is from their handling of it. Fine cancel the order, but I received no notification of this and no offer for a refund.

Not to mention the apparent leaking of hundreds of customer email address by not using BCC.

        • @PainToad: They have to contact thousands of people and have a lot of processing to do. Retail is pretty understaffed across the board at the moment. Give them some time.

          Try reading.

          Ok let's read.

David jones is the one having the last laugh, conning all these people

Spacebace's response is to the idiot who said DJ were "conning" people with this offer. And he was downvoted for dismissing those claims of conning. That's someone who is butthurt they didn't get their item. They wouldn't use "conning" if their grievance was the handling of the refunds.

    • -1

did you really expect to purchase the dufflebag for $0.07 ….?

    • +4

Wish I could have watched as you were laughed at for being moronic enough to think that David Jones would sell any bag other than a plastic bag for 10 cents.

      • +2

        They sold one to me?

    • Have a plus-vote.

  • +2

I've just received a call from (03) 92806502. When I first pick up they didn't even mention that they are from DJ or anything. They simply just stated 'Hi, This is a call regarding the duffle bag that you bought is no longer available. Would you like a refund?' and then asked me to give them my CC details. It sounded very telemarket-y. I declined and said I was just going to go through a Paypal dispute.

Also she did not mention it was a price error - just 'none available.'

    • +1

Yeah good call probably not a good idea to give CC details over the phone?

Maybe someone trying to scam ozbargainers?

Anyone confirm how they are processing refunds?

  • i also got a call wants the credit card detials to refund
she said it was a wrong price should be around 100 ,
    so whats the plan guys

  • no issues with refunds over the phone for claremont, wa.
even did my paypal order as well (credit card refund).
mentioned there were about 10 to 15 orders she was calling to refund.

    • +3

I guess I should have supplied my real phone number…

  • -4

This is the ugly part of Ozbargain, none of you guys stop to consider how much of a nuisance you are when you pull this shit.

    • ….fair call. +1 to your comment as it seems some people dont like hearing the truth ;)
its a pretty clear & obvious pricing error. would make more sense for the OP to make sure the deal is legit first before posting …especially here where people will pounce on this sort of thing with great fervour i.e knock out the website with shear volume of clicks/orders

      • +1

Op said he got a previous deal honoured so I just tried, not as if Ill be in financial trouble if I am out 10c

        • +1

…in your real world experience can you buy a dufflebag for $0.07 anywhere let alone at djs?
its not the amount its the fact that you & others thought it was plausible for it to be a legitimate deal when clearly it couldnt be

        • +1

@franco cozzo: It can be a legitimate deal because Myer and David Jones in the past DID used to have genuine clearance bargains with things under $1. Very rare now though..

There is always a chance that these things will be honored so might as well try..

        • +3

          @franco cozzo:

Youre on ozbargain you can look at how many unbelievable deals people have gotten which you could nt repeat elsewhere. Like I said the OP already got a bag for $1

        • @xcess: sure we get good deals here…but anyone with half a reasonable grip on reality would have realised this is a pricing error

        • @PJC: youre linking to a 'Deal Unpublished by Moderator' page. im not sure what the point is…?

    • +1

You got my like for stating the truth.
