Is Lexar Brand Micro SDHC Good? I See Some Good Deal on JB

I see a pretty good deal on micro SDHC on JB. I am planning it to use it for my Raspberry Pi3 to install Ubntu Mate on it. Please suggest.

  • I'd like to think Lexar is a good brand, I have a Lexar 128gb full size SD in my camera and it is great. But I just got my 200gb micro SD 633x yesterday, wrote 30gb of files and it's already corrupt with the 'write-protect' I/O error.

    • RIP 200 gig! That's so much! Why do you need that?

      • Why not, they're not expensive. Can always use it in a car dashcam to record more footage.

        • Gotcha! You rock!

    • write-protect is the last mechanism to fight against memory defects.

I had a Sandisk Ultra 32GB card and it failed on me once.

      It's their reply…
"Since the card is no longer functional, your card will need to be replaced. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
Write protection happens to prevent data loss from a potential fault. We recommend to backup your data immediately. "

I think Lexar is a good brand of making memory cards…

      • Very disappointing that happened to me in 15 minutes of opening the pack.

Now I have to send it back for warranty claim with my personal data stuck in there.

        • This is what happened to me last time.

I used my card in a camera and there were full of photos but I cannot even erase the card…

Hopefully your replacement would work as expected…. :-)

  • Yep they are fine.

I need to get a good deal on SanDisk Extreme Pro 64gb. I see MSY has it for $52 and Harris Technology has it for $62. I need to get Good Guys to price match (they seem to think that $119 is a reasonable price for an SD card..) so I can use my credit, hope they will do it without fuss. I'd be happy to go Lexar but their prices are equally as ridiculous at both JB and Good Guys.

    • I went to DigiDirect camera shop in Brisbane today and they wanted $125 for it! Can i ask what purpose you want it for? I am looking for one for my GoPro Hero 5 and it appears as though the non-Pro version is fine.

      • For my camera. High speed is good for burst shots and when shooting RAW.

You can get this card cheap, if I were you I would order it from MSY or off eBay. You can get it for $52-$60. I need to buy from Good Guys as I have $130 store credit there.

        • Cheers Nubzy. Yep, going to MSY to grab one this weekend.

  • Lexar is not a very good brand of memory, its cheap, but you get what you pay for.

  • I just bought one from JB. I will use it and post my comments. Thanks Fellas!

  • Lexar 633x MicroSD is now $69 @ JB HiFi, anyone knows how much haggle room is there to bring this price down at JB? Need one urgently this week

    • Never ever go for Lexar! I returned the card last week after it stopped working.

      • i'm using it for a dashcam, i need a reliable microsd based on MLC memory. What else would you suggest then?

        • Go for Sandisk. I see some better deals in Officeworks.

        • @Sowny: if you didn't know, most Sandisks except for the Extreme Plus above is TLC memory which is very bad for high endurance writing.

        • @gavintan: I see. What do you suggest then?
