  • Do we have any in Sydney stores? I was on phone for 20mins and still unanswered!

  • Just bought one from top Ryde couple of hours ago, last 3 went in like 5 mins. Ozbargainers queuing up!

    • A 48 inch HDMI 2.0 HDCP 2.2 4K 60hz Chroma 4:4:4 TV Doesn't come along for under 350 very often, Samsung Panel as well

  • +1

I think mine actually has a fault, its got bleeds all the way through the screen and its very noticeable when watching sport or moving scenes, do i have any chance of swapping it for another or likely that they are all sold out ?

      • That looks like dirty screen effect, something common with LED TVs especially lower end ones. Have a read of this http://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/picture-quality/gray-uniformi…

Exchange/refund if it bothers you a lot, but keep in mind the replacement you get or another TV you buy at this price range may well have the same issue. I know the Bauhn 65 inch which presumably came from the same factory had this exact problem on some of its panels.

        • nah its not that, its defintely lines across the screen, i wouldnt mind if that were the problem. i even tested to see if a person who has no idea about tvs could tell and they picked it up straight away. :/

  • Damn, damn, double damn!
Hope most WA OB's have been busy watching Syd/Hob race then Mel/Test; 'cos I was asleep for this.
Will have to be lucky and look sharp tomorrow to see if I can find one in Perth tomorrow.
Anyone know of stores definitely sold out (or that might still have one)?

  • Picked one up from Cairns BigW this morning. Everything is good, but found one issue - its HDMI connection is not stable and steady on HDMI port 2. It conpletely loses HDMI connection for less than a second and back to normal, also, it occasionally loses sound input, while video is fine. Reckon I picked up the faulty one. I know that TV's sold out and it may not possible to claim for a replacement but just refund? I'll keep post how it goes..

    • Has it VGA connection for PC?

      • Has it VGA? Still not sure… Better ask again.

        • +2

I have replied this user has made about 14 posts of the same question -_-

        • @shawncro 222: I did it coz for 24 hours no one replied to 1 post. Well tried to over-posted and it worked. Sorry for that and thanks for yr reply

      • Sorry no VGA

    • +1

      Aldi TV had this issue
It was caused by a cheap crap cable
I changed my cable and it fixed the issue
      the TV was very fussy

  • +1

Has anyone tried to google the TV model and come up with nothing? I even tried the JVC Aust and JVC HK webpages…

Just wanted to know what the refresh rate is on non-4K resolution (sorry, a bit of a noob on tvs).

I bought a Sony 8 mths ago with 50hz refresh rate as a temp tv interstate and it was annoying (coming from a 100hz LG tv).

  • I can check big w whitfords in WA tomorrow and post if any left in stock and still this price. Was 3 left at 1:30pm today

    • Has it VGA connection for PC?

      • +2

        Has it VGA yet?

        • +1

Nope, not yet and I reckon it won't. could you get some? a couple of kilos?

      • no vga, sorry for late reply internet doesnt work at the store :( was 2 left today at 3pm

      • No VGA

  • +2

Altona Meadows Vic still had 5 left as of 6.55pm.

    • Chur champ literally got da last one

  • +1

@idontalwaysnotlie Thanks for the post, I went down to my local Big W within half an hour of you posting this great deal and bought one for my son to use for xbox one. His xbox one gave a message that 4k wasnt switched on yet, once he did that the tv is even more awesome than when he first set it up. Fantastic buy, thanks again

  • Is this a better deal than the 55" from big w posted last week ?.

    • Price wise yes, 48 inch verse 55 is really nitpicking for size
Quality and build wise its EXACTLY the same unit as the 499 48 inch Bauhn dumb TV sold a month ago, I would say its the same Samsung Panel / System Software / Service Mode with a JVC label slapped on it / different boot logo pattern.

      • Oh ok thanks. It's crazy how cheap these are at the moment.

        • +1

Supply vs Demand, UHD is at that mainstream price point, everyone wants to jump on board, Samsung probably have a warehouse full of B grade panels, Bauhn, JVC and the cheapie brands all buy them and pump out the units one by one to you and me, Getting a good one is a lottery but when you do its well worth the cost savings.

  • +2

Got one at Brickworks SA. thanks a bunch OP!

    • any left ?

      • none, i got the last one :)

        • +1

I must have got the one before you!!

        • +1

all good got one at arndale :D

        • @AliensStoleMyMoney:
I actually called up Arndale before I went to Brickworks.
the lady told me, there wasn't any and there was none in SA.
Then I saw dogebargain's comment and called them up, and was so helpful.
So Angry at Arndale's customer service, just pure laziness.

  • Hi everyone, just bought this TV yesterday. does anyone know how to auto tune channels. also how to play low resolution videos like 720p or 1080p. 720p videos looks ugly on this tv.

    • +1

I really don't think for 328.30 you're going to get 720p scaled up anywhere near as good as a 3000 tv

720p is a pathetic resolution to begin with, 1080p and 4k off youtube look perfectly fine

Poo in = Poo out, I would try and get better resolution videos if you can.

Scaling to 48 inch from a horrendously low bitrate and most likely compressed 720p file won't do it any favours, I doubt even the best tv can scale that.

      • +1

Haha..thought of that..Do you know how to tune channels?

      • Hi ..were you able to auto tune channels?

        • Yes worked out of the box for me, You do realise it comes with a manual right?

Have you opened it and read through the instructions???

        • @shawncro 222: i dont have any antenna nor any dish box. It auto tuned but none o f the analog channels were captured. FYI, this is the first time am using TV in australia

        • +1

          @sini:

Sorry if I come across rude its just basic common sense with most electronics to read and understand the manual concepts

You will need an antenna, you won't get tv signal without it, if you are renting speak to your landlord or realestate to find out where the point is, or possibly buy an indoor antenna (signal may be worse than outdoor)

        • @shawncro 222: Not at all..Got It..i thought it would work with any inbuilt antenna.. will check it out..thanks for the help

        • @sini:

All good no problems, inbuilt tuner means it will pickup TV but will need a source antenna to actually get signals to the TV

Depending on how close you are to the tower will dictate how easy you can get away with an indoor unit

      • I actually get better picture using cyberlink PowerDVD player on pc and using TV as a monitor. It scales perfectly low resolution to something watchable in good quality. including this tv, which that I just connected to my PC. VLC and some other players have up-scaling features , but they more complicated to adjust. PowerDVD does it automatically and user friendly with the up-scaling. Used to use VGA , which worked exactly as PC monitor with my 50' FHD Changhong. With HDMIs i am still playing to adjust to my preferences. I have problem connecting this JVC and my Onkyo receiver. The TV doesn't by pass the Digital Dolby sound from the source (GPU). The HD 1080P movies played on PC do not by pass the sound Dig Dolby sound either. I am getting 2 channels audio only and then I use Receiver to convert it to Prologic IIx. Connecting receiver directly to my 1070 GPU (as it was before with the FHD TV ) cuts off the 4K resolution or / and TV doesn't work in 4K, even tho my receiver has got 4k up-scaling feature and thru resolution option. So far I have found 1 dead pixel in this JVC. I read a few posts about dead pixels above. hence the sale, IMO.

        • I have had no dead pixels or issues with sound quality on my set
Ensure you set the Optical to Auto as it is on PCM by default

    • read my post above re up-scaling. It is possible if you connecting it to PC.

  • Thx op just pick one at altona this morning just setting it up now. What a people calibration settings on this tv.

    • I have followed the guide on whirlpool for the Bauhn 65 incher in Sep 2016
Reducing backlight and making a few minor adjustments has made it look great

      • Mind to link that please?

        • +2

          Sure its here
Scroll down and you will find some base settings

          http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2565368

there are some excellent adjustments there, personally on the last page he talks about the settings he used, different panel so I did not touch the colour settings on the sharpness, brightness etc

        • @shawncro 222:
Thx will play with the setting when I have time tonight

        • @Therock101:

No problems, I did not have to touch much out of the box
for an 8 bit panel it does okay

  • Thanks op, just got two from brickworks (SA). Don't know how many left but one guy before me bought two, and another guy bought one.

    • +1

Please don't broden them like other people on the internet

      • +2

Unlike the links earlier I will be using mine in my own house and not selling. One for the bedroom and one for the back porch area, both wall mounted, which is what I've been looking for for the last year.

I've set one up already and they are excellent value for money.

  • How many TVs do people really need?

    • I have 2, one in the bedroom LG UH615T 55 inch 4k smart TV and the JVC 48 inch 4k Aldi Knockoff in the loungeroom for the iq3

      Couldn't be happier

    • +1

Zero. But I bought my first one today.

    • +1

Check Gumtree and Ebay and you'll see why people need that many TVs…
      Broden is alive and thriving!!

I called the following stores in SE QLD this morning which had no stock:

    Carindale
    Capalaba
    Calamvale
    Loganholme
    Underwood
    Stafford

Anyone know based on experience if stores will be restocked?

    • I doubt it
      SE QLD sold out yesterday

      Have you tried further North?

Strathpine / Northlakes / Kallangur etc?

      • Not that desperate I live Southside. At the regular price of $469, is that a good price or are there better alternatives?

        • its 328 on sale, nothing about desperate but why pay 500 when you can get it for under 350

I wouldn't pay 469 for it, at the current price point of 328 its worth every dollar, 469 is creeping into brand name pricing

        • +1

@shawncro 222: Thanks your comments have been most helpful.

    • +1

Robina on the gold coast had 6 on the floor this morning - potentially more out back too

  • I saw them unloading 6 of the JVC sets at big w in Kingston this morning. They were advertised as "50 but at $334

    • +1

This 50" model is not UHD its model number is LT-50N

  • +1

No, it does not have VGA.

Here is the page from the manual which shows the ports.

    http://i68.tinypic.com/mmrcsp.jpg

It has a USB input and it has played the first few files I threw at it without a glitch.
It also has a PVR (record live TV to USB as .ts file, about 1 MB per second for HD).

  • I have two AMEX cards enrolled for Harvey Norman deal so wondering should I go for Panasonic VIErA 50" DS610U for $395 (assuming I can add another $5 item and split $600 over two cards) or this JVC one for $328 !?

    • harvey norman don't sell this?
not sure how that would work

      • I meant Panasonic from Harvey Norman using 2 AMEX cards or JVC from Big W (at the sale price if I can find stock).

        • DS610U is FHD not UHD

        • @buneyha: probably will still look better on the Pana unless he can source 4k content

  • Did you forget about Taigum? Just got the last one.

    • Taigum didnt even cross my mind :)

I would say the northside stores would still have it, further than strathpine and possible west out ipswich way

      • +1

North Lakes didn't have any as of 2pm yesterday, no idea whether Morayfield do or not.

  • This is a nice deal, if I didn't get my 48" Sony from the good guys did 2 years ago I'd be buying this.
But can't justify the purchase to replace a my sony though, not enough content is 4k yet apart from Netflix etc that our 5mb/s internet can even stream anyway. Think I'll wait until we get better internet and cheaper technology. 4k TV's will be cheaper still in a year or two, I'm not gonna lose my pants but it's good for people who need to update older TV's..

    • its a 48 inch "reasonable" quality 4K tv under 350
4k is definately worth it for most people now with Xbox One S / PS4 Pro etc
8bit panel does the job, no HDR but for 330? I can live with that

It does 4K 4:4:4 @60hz which is important for computers, not many of the big dollar tvs did that back in the day when these cheaper panels come out

Its a Samsung panel inside, most likely factory second
If you have a second / spare bedroom, this is a no brainer

      • For the content that relies heavily on internet, I can wait. It's amazing value I'm actually wishing I didn't buy my TV but the ability to have the 4k streaming for my home is not there yet in the slightest (our internet speeds are just not up to it). I actually got an xbone S from black Friday which I'd love to use to its full potential but I'm saving for a trip to Japan and that is holding precedence over all of the boxing day sales.
There's always next year! I have my bedroom but tend to hog the lounge. We only really have the need for dining TV and the Sony in the lounge. It's a great deal honestly..

  • Trying to decide between this 48 inch tv or the 50 inch Jvc model which is $349 at some stores but is full HD only. I'm looking to use it as an outdoor tv. Can't find much info on the other model online lt-50n550a.

Would the quality of each model be similar so just deciding between saving $20 for UHD and 2 inches smaller?

    • djsa, the panel is a samsung panel in the uhd 4k model
for 328 its a brilliant investment, its nothing stunning for FTA but any video source, game console has been amazing, I am very happy with my investment for a second TV, 60hz panel, same as the bauhn 48 inch a few weeks ago :)

its cheap and cheerful but for an outdoor tv, as long as you protect it from the elements you should be okay, I had a soniq on a balcony and it died within 4 months, I reckon heat got to it.

Threw it out as it was stuffed, it was a second hand one I bought 2 years ago, probably needed a PSU but couldn't be bothered fighting soniq over it so i smashed it up and binned it

  • +1

just got back from Colonades after going to Hallet Cove

None at Hallet Cove as of 9am
Colanades had 6 on display at around 10am
got it and installed does the job well

to replace a TV that suddenly died yesterday
as well as our DVR also died so looking at replacing this soon

    • I wish my TV suddenly died.

    • +1

…but it has an inbuilt PVR… why bother with a separate PVR?
(unless you want to watch one and record another channel, or store heaps)

      • Have a topfield trf7160 best PVR I've had

  • Would JVC 55" FHD smart that was $699 which is now $489.30 a good deal? Thanks in advance.

    • I went to the Altona Meadows store and there was a person in front of me that bought the last two units LOL.

However there was another they try to sell:

      Viano 4K TV 55" for $429.

Don't know much about it however it did state HDMI 2.0 on the box?

Anyone Ozbargainers out there purchased one of these?

      Cheers

      • +2

I haven't however from memory I think the picture quality on that is terrible. Pretty sure I saw that model being displayed in-store with Finding Nemo or Dory. The blue was over-saturated in my belief and the picture was not sharp. But this from memory.

Would not be comfortable paying over $400 for it.

        • Thanks. Yeah, there was a person behind me that seemed disappointed also (that he missed out) and he seemed interested in this model. I just walked out. Lucky I didn't buy it. Cheers

        • @vinni9284: having said that pretty sure it was dvd source, as was blocks ad all hell when I saw it. Either way if the upscaling is crap it could still be a crap tv

  • SA stores I called to check stock levels:
    Tea tree plaza sold out
    Golden Grove sold out
Para banks sold out (got the last one cheers OP)

    • Dammit, what other stores are there? I need to check tomorrow!

  • my local has polaroid 49 inch, same price, still thinking if i should get it…

    • Yeah, I heard them tell someone that yesterday. Worth a shot at the price and it has Wi-Fi although I'm not sure how good it would be.

  • Just picked one up at Arndale in SA at 2 pm. They still have some 48" left, as well as some 50" for around $360.

    • Thanks, will call first thing in the morning!

  • Just got the last one at Canning Vale WA. Was out the back, so you'd have to ask the bloke at the photo desk (no one else around, LoL)
