  • not waterproof? no cracked screen anymore? I'd be using one if SONY handled crack screen issue better back in the days.

    • Water resistant:

A little water shouldn't be a big deal. Xperia X performance is built to withstand the splashes that are a part of everday life. So you can relax about sudden spills or unexpected showers.
      Pic

    • I've dropped my Z5 Compact on bathroom tiles from a 2 meter height (left it on the edge of the shower separator) and on asphalt from a 1+ metre height and the screen is still in tact.

    unexpected showers

    Is that a prison thing?

  • Is this ip68 waterproof? Reports seem conflicting. Really hoping for a z5 premium or xz deal for the better battery but I might just have to get this . Thanks op.

    • My guess would be they have designed it to the IP68 rating, but won't advertise as such. I've had 3 Xperias go back for water damage and many more from friends. They can't really argue about whether you are allowed to fully submerge it or not, especialyl when the display units are in a fish tank in the telstra shop.

It is IP68, same as the Galaxy S7. http://m.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_x_performance-7949.php

Saying that, you have to be careful with these mobiles. For example, you might be able to dunk it in water safely, but if you jump into water holding it then that could force water past the seals. This is not a design issue, just the way this sort of thing works. Personally I like it as it will protect the mobile from accidental drowning on a table when water is spilled. My Z2 is still going strong after many accidental dunks, and it was lower rated than this. I use a waterproof camera if I want to take photos in a pool etc.

5 year old Acro S - still waterproof, still works.. slowly. Hah. A Z2 survived 6 weeks on the ocean floor, 10 metres deep. Pulled it out, let it dry, charged it up, and it still worked.

Dear Sony, use more RAM pls

  • Does this model still get the cracked screen issue?

    • +1

I believe this is no longer an issue, but I would always strongly recommend putting it in a decent case, as well as using a glass screen protector.

nopes, because it doesn't have the glass back…It has a metallic body, only the front is glass so heat dissipation is much better

  • Really hoping for a z5 premium or xz deal. Anyone found one?

  • I'm keen on a z5 compact myself

    • m using z5 c now

      • How are you liking it? I want it because it's small for work?

        • +1

I got it for the same reason.
It does get warm sometimes. Oherwise, a great little phone that's still unique in its combination of manageable screen size and solid specs.

        • Goodlooking. Compact to put in pocket. Heating up when games. Awesome screen quality and front two speaker. Awesum battery performance under stamina mode. No consumption when standby.

  • Good price… But I'm personally on the fence with Shopping Square. Their S7 order cancellation debacle comes to mind…
