Wasterwater Systems - Sewage tanks

Hi all,

About to build a home that doesn't have town sewage and are required to put in a wastewater treatment system. I am wondering what unit and price did you pay if you have been in the position before. I have been instructed that I need a Krystel Kleer ADV5000 sub-surface spray with beds. Has anyone had experience with these types of systems and shed any light on price? What would the difference from a surface spray to sub-surface?

TIA.

  • Check what the local Council allow.
Some of these active systems can cost in ongoing maintenance. This one looks like a fancy aerated system.
It's good to know your soil type ,as this will determine how you get rid of grey water. ……
The system you mentioned is good for up to 10 people accordingly to Google,do you need one that big?
Also get a price on a maintenance contract, as you may be required for regular servicing by a Tracie.
Anyway start with your Council they usually have fact sheets on what you can and can't do.

    • Thanks, nrg. Yes, we will require a system this big. I have also done some research and checked with my local council. Just really wondering what the price people may have got if going with a system like this one or similar? I'm trying to see if it is worth my time to just get it independently done or go through my builder (which no doubt be a higher price)..

  • I have been building my evaporation bed, it's a pain and I wish I would have just contracted the works. I have 4in1 bucket on my tractor, kinda need a backhoe though. My mate just does weekend hires from Kennardsc and pays around 300 per weekend. Which isn't bad considering the money I've spent on tractor.

If you have a big enough Ute you can haul a backhoe/bobcat then you can do the earth works, trench for electrics, waste pipes etc. Not sure the savings though
