LG 34UC88-B 34" Ultra-Wide Curved Monitor - $999 Pick up, $1044 Shipped (RRP $1199) @ Scorptec Computers

170

Hi all,
I've been after this monitor for quite awhile now and saw it on sale at Scorptec. The shipping price I included in the title was to my location in VIC but I'm unsure if it costs more than 45 dollars to ship it interstate. MSY and PCCG have it listed for $1169 so I guess this is a decent ~14% off.

  • how does this compare to its equivalent 34" curved PC monitors?

    err. $76 postage to Sydney, NSW… could be a deal-breaker :-|

He can vote for what he wants. That's how it works dude.

    • Lower refresh rates compared to other manufacturers (acer) but far better quality control.

Keep in mind that new models were announced recently and should be in stores this year.

  • What is the curve rating on this? I couldn't find it anywhere.

I hope 2017 is the year of great Ultrawide deals - I am keen to buy one by year end

    • From a brief google it looks like it might be 1900R, but I'm not 100% sure. Don't know why they can't make their numbers clearer like everyone else.

      • Thanks for the reply 1900 is pretty decent

That deal from MSY recently was pretty good even though the monitor that was sold only had 2 HDMI inputs and was only 2560x1080 res. At $293 delivered it is pretty damn good. I think Ultrawide prices are set to fall significantly this year maybe as much as 30% based on previous trends on technologies.

    • Doubtful. This year expect 3440x1440 144Hz VA panels though which is definitely a step up in quality compared to the current "best" IPS ultrawides.

But I'd be surprised if these new monitors have a price drop.

If it had G-Sync I would pull the trigger instantly.

    Good deal!

Same. This looks almost as good as the X34 yet $400 cheaper

Great monitor I would say. Currently own the 34uc97 and am loving every moment of it,be it movies or games or photo editing (hobbyist).

The post description doesn't highlight these features:

LG 34inch Curved UltraWide QHD IPS LED Monitor, 3440x1440, 5ms, FreeSync, 1000:1 Contrast, 2x HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.2, Height Adjust, USB Hub, Speakers, Game Mode, Black Stabilizer, 99% sRGB

    I think is 60Hz max.

    • Freesync (DP 55-75Hz)

  • This monitor has solid reviews. If this was 100htz or had gsync I would bite. I found a few good YouTube reviews which makes it very tempting.

The panel quality is meant to be top of the line. I think if I can be patient there might be better UW deals this year. Also the AOC gsync VA panel will be released in March. Would be wise to hold off until I get more information on that unit

Don't be peasants, go for the 38 incher!

I would watch these as well they have great reviews as well and the only criticism I have gathered is that they have poor colour reproduction if you were interested in using it for creative arts.

    • Spot on. Backlight bleed with LG curved monitors is a deal breaker for me.
