Thank you for recommending PDF Annotator!

While I know there are many PDF annotator softwares out there including free ones like printing to OneNote or XODO, this is my favourite one and the standard one used by my lectures at my university on their MS Surface tablets. You can install it on two devices as stated in their licence agreeement and it has a ton of features.
Imho it's the most complete PDF Annotator software I've found for me as a student and makes it really easy to share/print marked-up PDFs. It also works with pressure sensitivity on my tablet which other free software I've tried don't.

  • I've tried this one before, and for just $10, I still prefer Drawboard.

  • While I know there are many PDF annotator softwares out there including free ones like printing to OneNote or XODO,

That sounds obscurely difficult compared to how most people do PDF markups.

I checked the features list and there is nothing there that cannot be done on numerous free software offerings, for example PDF Exchange + PDF Split and Merge. Almost all of the markup stuff can be done with Acrobat Reader.

Nevertheless, I suppose $10 isn't too bad if you feel the need to pay.

With the free version? How do you do that?

      • +1

With the free version? How do you do that?

Yes, the Free version. Open a PDF, then click on the word "Comment" in the Toolbar. Usually at the top right (varies a bit depending on version).

An Annotating / Commenting pane will open up and all the markup tools are in there. Format by RIGHT CLICK on what you just added.

When completed, from the menu choose File > Save

        • Thanks @llama

          Useful - good to know.

    • Sorry, I should have explained I primarily use it to mark up lecture slides with handwritten maths (active stylus) and typed comments (Bluetooth keyboard) or create handwritten PDFs from scratch in tutorials.

Shame about acrobat though was annotating with a stylus - no pressure sensitivity and lines would cut out on me halfway though. I agree there are lots of free alternatives, but I suppose I just paid for the convenience of everything in one place rather than having to switch between multiple free software for different things.
