Battery powered whipper snipper & lawn edger

As the subject says, I'm looking for a battery powered lawn line trimmer (whipper snipper) and lawn edger. Having recently picked up a 36V battery powered lawn mower and being pleasantly surprised at how it operates (quiet, quick to charge, very light weight, etc) I think I'd like to go for a battery powered line trimmer. Something with a couple of attachments to do both weed whacking and lawn edging would be great.

I haven't got a very large lawn area (perhaps a total of about 60 metres of lawn edge all up). Any recommendations, tips or advice?

  • if you had to get a 36v line trimmer then this is quite good.

most of the other well priced battery line trimmers are 18v and weak.

  • Was thinking of trying out a Worx WG168E, but thought I'd ask around first. Yeah, I know Worx is not a well known brand, but so was my previous line trimmer which I bought over 6 years ago.

  • Its the battery you need to be concern of. Mind you the ryobi ones dont last either but when it dies within 2 years bunnings will just swap the whole unit incl the console for a new one

  • All batteries will drain and lose capacity over time. I think most good cells will last you a very long time! How often are going to use the equipment? In general terms a good quality high drain cell will give you around 250-500 recharges depending on the abuse it sustains. Fast chargers will wear down the battery faster. Usually after you hit a certain mark the battery will be fine but you will lose capacity so say its a 3amp battery you may only get 2.6amps not to much difference.

I have LG cells i use in my lights they are drained at 8amps after each charge and they still okay after a year and half of use. I can tell the voltage is getting a tad lower on the charge cycle. They use to hold well at 4.22volts now they sit at about 4.17 volts. So a little loss in capacity.

Is that going to help in the coming zombie/nuclear/terrist apocalypse?
