Dear lord, what a great price for a great quality oil.

I can't see there being many in stock as they usually have few 1L bottles on the shelf.

Why has there been such great sales on full synthetic oils in the past year.

I have about 70L of 5w30 and 5W40 oil at home (I service 3 cars myself).

  • As i'm aware of, not many stores stock these in Sydney.

  • can i use this VW502/505 on one that recommend VW504/507?? Does it make a different if i change the oil every 10k. (come expert can help appreciated)

    • +1

Typically, you can use one or the other but not both.

VW504/507 is backward compatible with VW502/505 spec

      • thanks for the info. so if car hand book say VW 504/507. i should be able to use this 502/505?

        • +2

          no!
It means the higher spec oil like 504/507 can be used in cars requiring lower spec 502/505 oil

    • It may be suitable.

      What VW?

        VW = volkswagen

        • +1

lol volkswagen make more than 1 car.

          What volkswagen?

What year/engine also, saves me asking later.

        • @JB1: lol sorry i misunderstood.

          2006 VW jetta 1k model

        • @Kaimax:

          I was correct! lol…

          What engine?

        • @JB1:
sorry for late reply. Was limited to 5 message cause i am a new member. Thanks for all your help got to SCA to assist. :)

        • @Kaimax:

What did you end up using?

  • 2 bottles at wynnum for anyone close

  • strange how its for diesles and petrols, sounds like it may eat seals for breakfast lol

    • Most diesel oils can be used in petrol engines now. I use diesel oil in my motorcycle as the motorcycles put more stress on the oil than cars (wet clutch, and shared engine and gearbox oil). The stuff I buy is normally SJ or SL rated IIRC.

    • Diesel oil is always better (for the vehicle) not for the environment.

Basically, petrol only oil has had restrictions put on Zinc and Phosphorous, the most proven anti friction additives.

So , SN has 400 or so ppm IIRC; where as most diesel oils, despite being a new 'formula' is rated at SL, because its still 1100ppm.
      Which is excellent.

      Use diesel when possible.

  • Ozbargained.

There was hardly any stock when this deal was published… its not a deal if theres no stock, i tried to even do delivery order and no stock… not sure why my comment was deleted MOD?

    • According to the guidelines, you negged when you should have reported.

Folks are really a tad harsh on good OzBers like the OP who take the effort to post up deals when there's limited stock. The OP clearly stated that it was limited stock and it's very inappropriate for folks to whine or neg just because that great deal ISN'T available near you…..it's still a great deal, thats why you're so disappointed!

If OP's get slammed on efforts like this soon enough no-one will bother popping up deals unless they know there's enough for everyone nationwide.

As long as they flag it being limited stock etc I really think their efforts should be applauded….worst case scenario you've perhaps wasted a few mouse clicks seeing that your local store has no stock (on quality vendors like SCA that have this facility).

FWIW my SCA had quite a few (not past tense of expression) - so much thanks to the OP for taking the time to post up what is a very good deal on a very good product. :-)

Hey Nikko, thanks for your encouragement, and glad to hear you got some product!

Dalton, not a problem at all my friend - thats a VERY good deal (almost certain it's never been even close to that price). Is a top level oil and I do feel that realistically you're being put in a 'damned if you do & damned if you don't' situation by folks rather unfairly.

The easy option if for you just not to do anything and recognise it's a fantastic deal BUT not post it up - as thats what the majority of OzBers do - they just jump on deal NOT post them up - as that takes initiative & effort. But you DID and you also recognised there was limited stock so flagged this even though folks could check via online stock system.

I mean what as an OP are you realistically meant to do….check every SCA store for stock and let folks know so they don't have to do 30secs of checking?

It's a great deal - alas not available to all - pat the man on the back and hopefully you're able to get access to the next one that comes along, don't complain or say 'shouldn't be posted as not nationwide/limited stock' as then everyone misses out, not just you!

        Thank you OP. :-)
